Disappointed – Lost a Long-Term Client Due to Rigid Onboarding Policies
What do you like best about the product?
Deel looks modern and user-friendly. The interface appears clean and well-organized, and I can see that the platform offers a wide range of features for hiring and payments across borders. It seems convenient for freelancers and individual contractors who don't run a business entity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Deel treats all users as if they were individual freelancers, even when you're clearly operating as a registered company. I was required to provide personal identity documents (like a passport), despite offering full corporate documentation for my U.S.-based LLC. This is not standard in B2B cooperation and raises serious privacy concerns. There is no flexibility, no option for company-level onboarding without exposing personal data, and no way to continue working with a client if you don't comply.
What’s more concerning is that Deel doesn’t seem to have adequately educated or supported their client (my long-term business partner) on how to handle vendors operating as legal entities. As a result, my client enforced Deel’s requirements blindly, without considering the nature of our existing B2B agreement. This lack of clarity and training led directly to the breakdown of our cooperation.
Deel’s one-size-fits-all approach creates unnecessary friction and risk — especially for small businesses working internationally under a legal structure.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my case, Deel unfortunately didn’t solve any problems — it introduced new ones. I was asked to onboard to Deel because my client switched to it for contractor payments. However, Deel’s rigid identity verification process is not suitable for businesses operating under a corporate structure. Despite offering all standard company documentation, I was required to provide personal ID, which goes against my data protection policies and B2B norms.
As a result, Deel became a barrier rather than a benefit. It disrupted a long-standing business relationship instead of facilitating secure and flexible payments between companies. While Deel might solve compliance and payment issues for individual freelancers or for companies managing a global contractor base, it’s not designed to support small service providers acting as legal entities.
