Collibra Data Governance Center Review as SaaS
What do you like best about the product?
Collibra DGC implements a very business user centric concept with an high flexible solution and consistent user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
The SaaS solution does not support VPN tunneling into the company network or other networks, which makes easy and secure integration difficult.
The Collibra DGC is a cloud solution, but there are functional components that need to be deployed and maintained outside of the SaaS Solution with relatively high manual efforts. The monitoring and administration means maturity could be improved.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are implementing the FAIR principles with Collibra with the objective to enable the "Informed use of data" in a data democracy
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Before implementation make yourself familiar witht he operational model of Collibra, which will help you to drive the implementation and customization to your customer. Adapt to the taxonomy of Collibra making sure you speak with one voice and have the same understanding with your implementer.

Building your data model taking into account Collibra's constraints.
Collibra implementation just kicking off; excellent resources for training/onboarding.
What do you like best about the product?
Very good training and customer support for onboarding, e.g., flexible options and customization provided to meet specific needs
What do you dislike about the product?
Ability to ingest metadata / lineage from a wider variety of sources could be improved.

Data catalogue, Meta data management for now; data governance to follow...

What do you like best about the product?
Collibra Data Catalog helps to find the data in one go and its data lineage capability of automated view around the data mapping is a plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
Collibra need to expand the built-in capabilities in the future roadmap.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding data in one go and help data community to search data with enhanced data privacy in place.

What do you like best about the product?
Their approach towards Data Governance Setup for any organization. The various options they have set up for Data Governance activity to be taken care. They have segregated each and everything that Data Governance needed and have given very established setup. Their product documentation helps us a lot in many scenarios. Their downloads section helps us in setting up various things including the installations.
What do you dislike about the product?
API implementation on any external integration. Their Dashboard visualization could be better in adding more widgets and counters.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Governance setup for every business users across the organization. Having the data they needed at a single point of access. The business end user now have the ability to track the glossary that they want, everything about the term that they are using, for example Policy and Standard that the organization enforces on anything that is being used.

Having your insights about Data Governance first and based on your requirement check for the products and its benefits of using it in your organization.
First plan what you need to achieve for your organization set up.
Then look for the options available in the market and then choose your product, this ensures your need for any products that bets suits you.

Very good back end, front end is a little clunky
What do you like best about the product?
Collibra is a very intelligent platform that helps give us insights into our data and provide those back to the business. The platform itself is intelligent and very functional and they have wonderful customer service. We are currently expanding our usage of Collibra to include not only the Data Governance Center, but also Collibra Catalog including lineage. This will automate our metadata collection and lineage discoverability which will help us greatly in our governance journey. We are looking forward to having the vast new amount of metatadata and profiling about our environments without having to painstakingly manually input everything.
What do you dislike about the product?
The front end is a little clunky and difficult to "sell" to our business users despite the wealth of information held within. The search capabilities are also slightly lacking in the when somebody searches for a metric that is used commonly across the company, they end up seeing everything we have. I am sure that we could create some custom search functionality and/or use what Collibra offers in a better way, but given everything else we lose the time to do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a tremendous amount of data from all over the company; collibra has helped make our data known so that users can have confidence in what they are using to drive the business. We have implemented Collibra across many initiatives and leverage the change management functionality to better alert downstream data consumers of changes to upstream data sources. It's awesome.

Feel free to ask them questions and to really leverage their team. They have been excellent partners and have been very faithful in their support over the course of several years.

Workflow capabilities is very powerfull using Groovy or Javascript and BPMN syntax

Low UI customization: you can use only CSS and there is no hot deployment for this
Workflow code editor is poor (no syntax verification), internationalization content is not so easy

Collibra is well-adopted to business people to share enterprise business glossary and is now mandatory for IT people for each API development to refer to Collibra business term

only one dislike whenever user want to use keyboard for scroll up or scroll down we need to mouse for that. this is totally dependent on web data frame i.e. javascript or html being used for pages to build.
