A reasonably priced product that is reliable and scalable at the same time
What needs improvement?
The solution's interface is very slow at times. The interface of the product needs improvement.
I wouldn't like to see any improvements in the future since it is an already good product in the present.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using IBM Watson Studio for two years. I am an end user of the product.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is a very stable and reliable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution.
How are customer service and support?
The solution's technical support depends on the support plan one opts for, and our company currently has a basic support plan. I think that my company gets an answer within a day of contacting the product's support team, so it is not bad. If you want real-time support, then it does cost money. I rate the technical support an eight out of ten.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
IBM Watson Studio is a reasonably priced product.
What other advice do I have?
I am satisfied with the overall product.
I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.
A stable and scalable tool that helps to conduct analysis process
What is our primary use case?
I use IBM Watson Studio to analyze personal resumes. In general, we use the machine to analyze resumes.
What is most valuable?
With the solution, it is easy to create a machine-learning model. The solution's UI is helpful since we had to work on Microsoft Excel or a CSV file earlier.
What needs improvement?
From an improvement perspective, I would say that if the deployment environment and IBM Watson Studio's environment are separated, then it would be good. I would like them to be one and offer users a non-separated deployment phase.
From an improvement perspective, I want IBM's technical support team to provide more specific answers to queries.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using IBM Watson Studio for three years. I don't remember the version of the solution.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability-wise, it is a great tool.
Around ten people in my company use the solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution.
IBM Watson Studio is an extensively or regularly used solution in my company.
How are customer service and support?
I have contacted the technical support team of IBM.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of IBM Watson Studio is complex.
Once a person gets used to the deployment process of IBM Watson Studio, it doesn't take much time for them to deploy it in the future. When getting involved in the deployment process for the first time, there might be many things that one needs to know.
The solution can be deployed in three to six months.
Only one person can take care of the solution's deployment and maintenance processes.
What about the implementation team?
I can do the deployment process without help from those not part of my company.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
IBM Watson Studio is an expensive solution.
What other advice do I have?
I recommend the solution to those who plan to use it.
I rate the overall tool a nine to ten out of ten.
Though the tool provides exclusive features to run Python codes in a certain environment, it needs to improve support
What is our primary use case?
It was used for some basic purposes because all I did was use Jupyter notebooks to run codes on the Snowflake environment. This was done by me at my previous job. I had just started using Jupyter notebooks to run Python codes on Snowflake data warehouses.
How has it helped my organization?
I was really more on the engineering side of things. The data scientists built certain models around it. So that, I guess, was a very big improvement.
What is most valuable?
For me, the valuable feature of the solution is the one that I used, which was Jupyter notebooks. Also, I think the data scientists used it to train their models. I am not the biggest user of it.
What needs improvement?
I think maybe the support is an area where it lacks. From my talks with the administrator, I think the support could be improved. My usage of it was limited to Jupyter notebooks.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have experience with IBM Watson Studio for about a couple of months, like three months. Also, I don't remember the version of the solution I was using.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. However, I am not the best person to judge the solution based on scalability.
How was the initial setup?
The solution is deployed on the cloud.
What was our ROI?
I would think that my organization had seen a return on investment. However, I am not the best person to speak on its ROI.
What other advice do I have?
To those evaluating the product, I would say it's a good product to use from what I know, and it's not bad. Right now, we're just really making comparisons. I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.
Running Apache Cassandra/Pulsar for Enterprise
What do you like best about the product?
The scalability of Cassandra, along with the customizations done by Datastax, is terrific for enterprise use cases. AstraDB, their Database as a service, is easy to use and cost-effective. There are drivers/SDKs/APIs for most languages/tools/frameworks you want to integrate with. Stargate is a cherry on top of the cake. The Astra Streaming service is an excellent managed service of Apache Pulsar.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few general issues with Apache Cassandra are no transactional guarantee and joins. The eventual consistency will not work for all use cases. The Astra service lacks capabilities for extendable monitoring and observability. Datastax Astra also lacks the ability for refined RBAC and network security.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Datastax Astra DB and Streaming for our database and streaming needs. The billing is simple, and the integration is as well. The serverless database helped us reduce the overall costs.
DBA
What do you like best about the product?
It's distributed capability, availability and horizontal scaleability.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area I wanted to see in their next major version is ease fo backup tool. Maybe integrated within OpsCenter with more flexibility.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
RDBMs typically very hard to scale horizontally and it gets performance degradation as your data increases, however if you design your queries and data model correctly and properly, the speed of operations are sub-millis, especially for large write operations.
Good experience, very good product
What do you like best about the product?
The quality of the product is really good, it really goes beyond the open source Apache Cassandra.
What do you dislike about the product?
The quality of the support, from time to time we had issues lasting for more than a year (sic), or every time we had to explain our setup to the support representative as they had no clue about our company and our background.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We manage to provide a platform as a service to multiple different development teams. DataStax came into the play because no one had the knowledge on distributed databases at scale so their participation was paramount to the kickoff of the project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have a good product and a huge experience with multiple different customers from different business domains. They are also offering now a flavor based on the open source version that might help people or organizations with specific needs, or afraid of lock-in, which is great.

Great for Cassandra implementations
What do you like best about the product?
Best in class Distribution of Apache
Cassandra addresses challenges involving adoption, maintainability and support by streamlining operations and control costs for all your Apache Cassandra workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need the complete enterprise version for advanced database features, security and analytics,. Do not use for use cases that requires a relational DB and ACID transactions
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementation of globally distributed, linearly scalable for high streaming data writes - for transaction logging, storing time series data, tracking etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You may need this if you want a enterprise version of Cassandra implementation to leverage full potential
Review for DataStax
What do you like best about the product?
Our data was decentralized. It has therefore become indispensable to implement a customer master data management solution to deploy a consolidated vision of our clients in one single point.
What do you dislike about the product?
Beneath the covers, the Cassandra data storage layer is basically a key-value storage system. This means that you must "model" your data around the queries you want to surface, rather than around the structure of the data itself. This can lead to storing the data multiple times in different ways to be able to satisfy the requirements of your application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The write volume it can handle. It is able to handle such a large volume of writes by first writing to an in-memory data structure, then to an append-only log.
