Efficient Item Tracking

  • November 07, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to track item history and have traceability for changes, files, etc. has been perfect for supporting various quality projects.

A large amount of time I spend in Arena is for document change orders, and I am able to add files and approvers, submit, and receive feedback seamlessly.
What do you dislike about the product?
To my knowledge it's not possible to view two items' BOMs and see what assembly items are overlapping. This is one example where you would have to export the search results and do an analysis via Excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The linear progression of change orders and what steps are required to move forward.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This seems like it should be the standard for keeping PLM/QMS records.

Perfect solution for documentation.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing of the Arena QMS is that you have everything in just 1 system, Deviations, DCO, ECR,ECO etc, this really makes all the hardwork easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the only thing support should be working is that in sporadic times the system gets a little bit slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many, for any issue related to production, we fix them with Deviations or Changes on documentation, which makes everything faster.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You wont be disappointed, is such an extreme powerful system that all the companies should have.

What do you like best about the product?
Arena is easy to use and has a fairly straightforward user interface. It is helpful that Arena has different worlds that can be leveraged for different needs (items, training, quality, projects, etc.). The dashboard feature is very helpful to see what tasks I need to complete. The scribe functionality is also extremely helpful in that it is an integrated platform that can be used for quick and efficient cross functional communication. Additionally, the ability to cross link different items types (changes, quality notifications, items, files, etc.) is helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ideally Arena would be more customizable. For example, I would like items to automatically go to an Alpha revision if the In production life cycle is selected. Arena could also improve the reports functionality. There seems to be a lot data that is not accessible via the reports. Additionally, it would be helpful to have an audit trail within Arena to see what changes were made by which user and when.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are building a device that has several thousand parts. Arena PLM has helped manage all of these parts and their structure. The sourcing and supplier worlds are features that we are not heavily using currently, but will be very helpful as the company continues to grow and develop new needs. We are also using Arena to manage and implement company wide training.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Understand business needs and see if they align with the various features that Arena PLM provides.

Little complex and the customer support is useless

  • November 06, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the simplicity of certain parts of the interface, as well the revisions seem to work very very well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the time consumption to go from part to part. Would love the ability to visually see every part on a BOM.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
revisions management and having a full history of of product changes through the years.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
get as ma ny employees as possible working on it as soon as possible

What do you like best about the product?
Arena best feature is the amount of data, rev, and pdf we are able to store all in one. The search features are also very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Arena is unclear and not user friendly at all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having images and product knowledge all in one have helped us properly identify the parts. Helping eliminate mixed stock and reduce kitting and assembly errors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Life saving!

Great PLM to use!

  • November 06, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is very easy to use and the functions in the system is well organized and easy to navigate. I especially like the easy way to access the top level and lower level bill of materials for an assembly which makes my daily job activities much easier. There are many things that Arena can do which makes it a overall great system.
What do you dislike about the product?
The system sometime experience lag when expending large BOMs could see improvement on smoothness. Maybe a cosmetic suggestion is to have the user interface updated to a bit more modern look. Other than that I do not have any other complaints, everything is good in the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arena makes it easy to share information with external suppliers where they can submit MCRs and access information from the system without us having to send it to them manually, saves a lot of time. The system also makes reviewing ECOs easy as it provides clear tracking or the status and would notify approves in a timely fashion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is easy to use

Arena Rocks

What do you like best about the product?
Arena is so easy to manage, configure, is very user friendly, support is awesome, quick and very responsive
What do you dislike about the product?
We are looking for a QMS system as an addition to our PLM, do not want Project Management, or any other features, just a simple QMS system, nothing fancy, very basic, as a storage data base solely, but the items have a correlation to put PLM system, but do not want change management in the module. Streamline the supplier access setup, one step process would be helpful. More configuration other than out of the box, custom fields specific to our product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Supplier access is huge, great to only give them access to what you want them to see. Single point of contact for all information

A great option for those who need more PLM & QMS together

What do you like best about the product?
Arena allows the business to control the software configuration instead of IT.
Item control of information and associations to other items (BoM/Where Used), association to other objects (Quality Processes, Training, Changes, Projects, Requirements, Tickets, Files, etc.) make it easy to follow along to see what is really happening with your product.
Ease of use, training was simple to provide to all the users and in many cases they could train themselves. The buy in took a little more effort than actual training to use the system. Easy access to online help. Normally quick response to issues. Supportive group from day one and continues throughout to ensure you are able to develop more useful ways to utilize the system to support your business.
Continually improving the system to provide more functionality.
It is a cloud SaaS that ensures that no matter the location of the users or systems in use they can all access and continue to use it with just a basic internet connection making in house infrastructure changes/upgrades unnecessary.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you do not have an understanding up front about the system and most of the capabilities it makes the initial development more difficult. It is best to really layout how it works and how you want things to work within the context of the system before finalizing the configuration for process validation.
The system has a few quirks that do not always make sense. Deviations do not actually change the items yet it triggers training to the item document without connection to the deviated document. On Changes you cannot have people perform different functions and appear in different stages of the review and be allowed to approve multiple times, if you approve once you approve for everywhere you are listed.
Some data you would expect to be in reporting is not there.
You need to be careful on the selections made during search as you may think something does not exist, yet it does. More training oriented.
In Quality: If the final step is "Complete" it does not mean that the process is complete, that is an extra step. Also, connecting quality processes to one another can only be done if at least one step is open to allow for the connection. The consideration of bi-directional reference is there, but not always properly displayed, knowing how to connect the data is important.
Would love to see attributes show where it is actually used within the given world, would assist with further development.
This is not per se really a dislike, just I think it needs more development. The help section shows how to enter data step by step, but does not really explain "how" it is expected to work to gain understanding of the "Functionality" of the system rather than from just a general user.
Workflow is not exactly what you would expect with respect to Requests and Changes, this could be better, but it is manageable if defined properly and the process managed appropriately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility!
Bill of Material visibility, Where used visibility. Clear indication that items are under deviation. Tracking of basic training.
Overall it is the Visibility to what is going on with the multiple products from top down and bottom up view through knowing what is pending changes and what has pending quality processes.
Ensuring compliance to regulations.
Search and filtering of search
Increased efficiency, usability, access to information, visibility to information, extraction of data, increased communications.
Expectations to further develop and increase efficiencies of other processes and areas of the business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great system, when you understand how it works and you spend the time to develop the features ahead of implementing the system. If you set it up right from the beginning, then you will spend time creating more usage within the system than in trying to correct issues and reconfiguration of attributes and processes.
Don't try to implement everything all at once, take a phased approach so that users have a chance to utilize the system. You will find that subsequent phases will need slight adjustment as users become more familiar with the functionality and what it can really do for them.
If you can get someone in that has worked with the system before, then you will find that the development of the system and associated processes will go much smoother as they understand how the system will / can work under different circumstances and how it can be aligned to work with your business.
The support that Arena provides, is great, but each business must really understand how the system works and how their business functions to reap the benefits of the functionality.
If you need to convince the business the value of using an electronic system or a system in the cloud, then this is the system to define that with. ROI is months, not years.
