Solid, but lacking
What do you like best about the product?
What Arena does it does robustly - keep track of BOMs, large database for files (available on the go too!), revision control
What do you dislike about the product?
We were promised integration with solidworks that never ended up panning out
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
single place for BOMS!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its a good PLM but nothing magical!
Arena PLM is a great tool for our business
What do you like best about the product?
We love the change and tracking review and approval.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think one of the dislikes is that since it is an out of the box solution, the ability to customize is not there. While most of our needs are met, we have to keep pushing for updates that hopefully other companies are also pushing for, so that they become priorities and come out in the new releases. Flexibility to customize certain aspects would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dealing with global manufacturing is solved via Arena PLM, we reduce miscommunication by using Arena with the supplier directly.
Awesome PLM system with the ability to customize and scale
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful part of the PLM system is the ability to manage multiple revisions of quality documents, engineering documentation and manufacturing data. With customization, one can create entire kits, and packages that are specific to departments while linking information such as sourcing and BOMs for the use by other departments. Its a highly cross-functional communication system for product life cycle documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides of Arena come in the the process of searching for items, when searching it can be limited to worlds and therefore what you have to know exactly which world you are search in, secondly the search function could be a little more intuitive and easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits we have realized include the automation and ease of having controlled documentation for our products through their life cycle. The other area of improvement is the communication between departments using the Arena PLM system which allows reviewers and collaboration on the change reviews.
Very flexible system that is easy to use.
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to make new process in the Quality module or how you can set up Projects as a task list or an actual schedule. The whole system has a nice visual for any process. The supplier access is extremely useful.
Seeing the revision history is very clear to see what has changed.

What do you dislike about the product?
Item and BoM uploads are not the easiest thing to do. There is a template that works but it's sometimes not any faster than manually uploading. Putting the file paths is the more time consuming. There is a lot of redundant typing on the upload templates as well. Example is the items tab then the bill of materials tab. Why can't you just put all the information into one tab?
There is little configuration management for manufacturing. Showing on the bill of material that an either or can be used isn't easy.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a great document storage, BoM management, change control, and quality processes that enable our company to have both a medical device product and a consumer product. The ability to use Arena and have both is awesome. The Projects module is a great solution for medical device companies that need a DHF.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you look at Arena as not just a BoM and change control product. It can help businesses more by exploring the Projects and Quality modules.
Good QMS System for Change Management and Tracking Quality Processes
What do you like best about the product?
Area's categories work well together. For a given component, I can link a supplier, a quality process, and file seamlessly. These category items are robust and support the features we need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the procedures that connect categories(e.g. linking supplier to a part) have a clunky UI that requires many redundant clicks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing our quality processes and tracking incoming parts. I have been able to look back inspections and point to specific issues with ease because of Area's interface
Recommendations to others considering the product:
NA
Arena enhances productivity
What do you like best about the product?
Arena PLM & QMS is an excellent tool for combining various aspects of a product's development and production. If your current PLM & QMS needs resemble microsoft excel or access, google sheets, or a notepad. This is going to be an important upgrade. If you're about to send units to customers and want to always ensure versions are tracked and bugs can be fixed, arena will help greatly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup process and UX/UI are stuck in the past century. Vital information are hidden in generic and small icons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to track production design.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Stop using word, access, excel, google docs, notepad etc for your PLM and QMS needs. A real software will help take your company from concept to production ready.
eventful interface but far from user friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful about Arena is that you can look up the entire archive/history of part numbers dated from first or second generation and see the transition into the new part, where and how it is used up to date.
The upside for Arena is that it is filled with everything you need - accurate description, part numbers, sizes, etc. You can identify old and new parts and be able to tie them together to find out what you are looking for.
The upside for Arena is that it is filled with everything you need - accurate description, part numbers, sizes, etc. You can identify old and new parts and be able to tie them together to find out what you are looking for.
What do you dislike about the product?
The front interface has too much going to select from or choose from that makes it rather complicated to look at with the eyes. For example in the search option you should be able to put any key word or number with specifically having to identify what your typing to find that. I understand this is a direct correlation with the item you are looking for but in the search you should be able to put whatever and it takes you to what you are looking for as it would when you select the drop-down and specify. Yes, you may say this is lazy, but less navigation allows for the user to find what they are looking for faster, and in return you can utilize every second not wasted doing something more production. I work with Arena daily but spend so much time just navigating, selecting drop-down menus and this pulls me away from work. Long and tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
parts management and file keeping has always been an industry struggle, but having a diagram, associated catalog picture with associated inventory has and always will be key.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend companies to use this service for quality and as a thorough tracking system.
Excellent dashboard for Product life cycle management
What do you like best about the product?
Best way for document management and track on all the documents under one roof. Also provides easy access of taking approvals. Undoubtedly the best product life cycle management tool. Allows to easily connect to the required vendor or concerned person as the changes and authors are clearly defined.
What do you dislike about the product?
a little lengthy process of approving and updating. It takes ages to get approval (good quality comes with a cost). Also the process of Document change order shall be reduced by reducing the number of steps and providing a pre-defined list that can be used while getting the approval. It is a little difficult to link it with the third party tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides authority and is a good management tool.Easy to track changes and control and update supplier and document. Also it provides easy access to reports with better visualization. The most important problem which this tool helps in solving is the need to have the process in place, where the future employee can have all the related information. This basically acts as an knowledge transfer tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is the best Management tool with easy control of supplier, vendors and provide good support for document management. It provides easy access to reports. It is the best management tool i have used in my lifetime and would recommend companies to use it for better product life cycle management.
Moving from old Excel based BOM to Arena Cloud BOM
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best things is that it has automatic revision control which is detailed and keeps a history of relevant changes. Also the fact that it can accept attachments, we can control our firmware for many electrical components in a streamlined manner.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the downsides is that it is cloud based so by nature when we do not have access to it if we are in an area without network access. Beside that, there doesn't seem to be a good Solidworks add-in that would help automatically generate part numbers and names. It would be extremely helpful if Arena could also act as a vault for storing solidworks or step files for version keeping.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Main problems we are solving is version control and release of information to our CMs. Previously using Excel with multiple people editing the BOM, it made it extremely difficult to work and ensure which changes were being made by who. But now we can ensure through Arena exactly who has changed what and when we release the BOM, we know for sure which versions the CM are using for which parts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are currently using Google Sheets or Excel, and if you have over 50 parts, definitely look into Arena, especially if you are working with CMs. This would save you a ton of headache and emails going back and forth.
Arena PLM Gives Control and Visiblity to an International Organization
What do you like best about the product?
The features in Arena that allow communication and approvals from key stakeholders are what ensure that we make intelligent product changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Arena Dashboard is clunky and sort of un-intuitive, there is always a lot showing and not much information on what is required of the user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arena allows our team to be agile with controlled changes to our product as we mature the design. It gives the international organization a tool to collaborate and feedback impacts to design and manufacturing.
