Keeps things organized and up to date
What do you like best about the product?
Having up to date information that is shared across the company. Drawing, sourcing and other information, plus all the prevision revision documents. Before we switched to Arena, it was wild west of part numbers and revisions. And BOM was just excel on computer that was always out of date. My most favorite item is the image import function of the part number. Right after I search of the part number I can see what it is.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are so many tabs and sometimes it infuriates me. Why do I have to click on tabs, rather than just scroll down on the main page. All important information should be on main page not hidden under handful of tabs. Another thing that infuriates me, is the search function. Why do I have to select core attributes when searing for name or description every single time I do not know the part number. It should be on by default or non existent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Document control is the most important feature that Arena gives me. I like the new (to me) feature to upload different file formats, instead of bundle all files into zip. I also like the dashboard, it is nice to keep frequently visited part numbers on the welcome screen, especially when starting a new projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Arena is pretty good and flexible to use and set up. I used only one more system like this and this is way better and easier to use.
Solid PLM System
What do you like best about the product?
Arena is a solid and user friendly PLM system. It's easy to pick up quickly for new comers but also has a variety of tools for power users to automate BOM management. I really enjoy the ability to import and export BOM and ECO data for manipulation and analysis in spreadsheet tool. ECO tools are great as well and make it very easy to control changes and updates to parts.
Good training tools as well. Allows our manufacturing team to keep up to date with changing work instructions and training plans, and allows the management team to verify training.
User interface is very solid and simply enough. I've also used the admin tools in a previous role which were more than adequate.

What do you dislike about the product?
Quality management tools leave something to be desired. Not as configurable and customizable as I would hope. Hard to nail down the perfect process flow. Hard to down select responsible parties at different steps without spamming a whole group. Would like to see more flow customization and information gathering configuration
Also sometimes difficult to customize different customer/vendor access levels and restrict information. We have to use work arounds to keep our customers from seeing a variety of part sourcing information.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy to manage a huge variety of projects and part number schemes. We work with many customers and have 1000's of top level assemblies. Arena makes it easy to pull all this together.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Solid system. Definitely worth upgrading if you're using anything spreadsheet based.
UI Update makes experience much better
What do you like best about the product?
I like having one space to hold all of our documentation. I can find all the company documents in one place and not worry about people holding separate versions.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Obsolete items shouldn't show up in regular searches
- There is no dynamic forms capability
- Word docs don't get loaded as PDF's
- Comments and communication on changes are challenging to find.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Maintaining consistent documentation across multiple international sites.
Very useful and thorough.
What do you like best about the product?
When it comes to creating a solid database of part numbers and categories, it is unmatched. I love being able to import from a csv file at any time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Web based interface. Would prefer to have a native app companion as well so that it is faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Design revisions, changes, and lifecycle flow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Stick with it, it makes sense so long as you take your time to learn the details and idiosyncrasies.
Using Arena for change management
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to track documentation, change orders, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is very old-looking, outdated. Definitely needs a revamp.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking documentation is great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Arena is a great tool, but make sure your team has the resources and bandwidth to work on implementation of the platform. It requires some serious effort and the learning curve is quite steep. But it definitely pays dividends.
Overall good experience.
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Arena is that it seems very organized and easy to find related documents. I like how it groups similar SOP's and batch records together for training purposes. I also like the reminder emails to remind me when I need to complete modules. I also like that there are lots of fields to search by to find the document that you are looking for.
What do you dislike about the product?
Arena is a little more difficult than our old quality control system. With our old quality control/document system you could check an item out to review and make tracked changes. With Arena, we have been having to email the document to each other to make corrections. This is inconvenient when the document has to be reviewed by multiple people because everyone makes changes on the document sent to them and they have to be combined later which is more work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps organize and group all related quality documents. It is also nice to be able to see all past versions of the documents. It would be nice to have a representative to come out and train all of us on all of the aspects that could be learned. I feel like arena has a lot more to offer than what we are utilizing it for.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once you get used to Arena, it is a very useful and powerful system.
Arena is organized but could have more features.
What do you like best about the product?
Part number management is great and organized, when moving from a spreadsheet management system arena is 100x better. In addition, the approval process that arena allows has also been helpful in getting buy in from all members. Lastly change tractability and visibility throughout the life of any part is extremely helpful. It is useful to most teams at the company and is very cross functional and not just one department.
What do you dislike about the product?
The arena projects or quality parts are very linear and the ability to do non linear or parallel tasks would be very helpful and beneficial. In addition, some of the integrations of the system could be stronger and have more of them. In my experience the solidworks integration is weak and requires other add on to function somewhat decently. In addition, an app for this would be great, looking up part drawings in the field by using the web browser is difficult and cumbersome, an app in this day and age should be a given. It can even have limited capabilities of only looking and reviewing existing information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the growing pains of going from a small company to a larger global company with members all over the world. The accessibility of the software worldwide has been very beneficial in that sense and has helped everything stay organized even if it has taken a few restructuring to get it to something that we like.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Arena is a good PLM that has been able to grow with us.
