Arena Review
What do you like best about the product?
The large amount of information available for all parts. I can export BOMs in various formats and get all of the information in a pdx file.
What do you dislike about the product?
The company that put the information into our system did not put all of the information in, so our data is incomplete.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to obtain information easily. Save time since information is linked to the part numbers.

Easy to implement and customize. Works for a small size business with simple manufacturing products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are not customizable and the email notifications can be confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can now control all our documents and product information in a centralized source.
Best PLM software I ever used!!!
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best features of Arena is that it is cloud based, with access from anywhere. Even from smartphone browser!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to disllike, honestly. Minor improvements I wish would be done, but they are not critical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of items, revisions, BOM's, Manufacturing sources and prices.

What do you like best about the product?
I have implemented Arena singlehandedly at 2 start-ups, and I am extremely happy with the product. It has all of the power anyone could need, and is also easily customized. I have been able to import BOMs and be up in running in a matter of days. I have used other PLM systems in the past at both large and small companies - Arena leaves nothing to be desired.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be good if there were standard ERP system import/export interfaces built in (ie, NetSuite).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Core PLM functions - BOMs, ECOs, centralized record control and access (specs, drawings, etc..).

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to configure the system to meet specific needs (e.g., item categories, attributes, process flow) and to only use those components that are relevant to the company and quality system. Also like the validation service since this is something required from a medical device standpoint. Other features that I like include the projects world which allows creation of structure work that can be linked to Arena items and processes. This feature can be used to support Design History files as well as tracking and assigning project tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is more of a comment than a dislike, just that SW revisions are pushed out and you don't have the ability to hold off. There are pros and cons of doing this. There are also a few features, such as being able to add references to change orders, that are not implemented that would be very helpful. Also, having a way for a change to be submitted with redlines and then a step for quality/document control to make the changes and implement them prior to final approval.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arena is satisfying requirements for a quality system (medical device company). Benefit is to have a defined and consistent process for those items now performed by Arena. This ultimately allows us to avoid implementation of a paper system. Electronic signatures allows for us to run this application with folks located around the world.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do your homework. This is a PLM so it provides more extensive features than some of the simple quality systems. It also requires that you still create your own procedures and processes that you then align with Arena.

Easy to deploy and use. Cloud based, so no infrastructure maintenance.

Still no great CAD Integrations .

What do you like best about the product?
Our Bills of Materials are now clear, synchronized with revisions and efficient in pricing. Part numbers and thumbnail pictures are easy to generate. Absolutely the best feature, however, is the Save to ARENA PLM function, which has removed hours of effort importing parts.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a somewhat steep learning curve to get started.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had to take control of our BOM ordering procedures, which were haphazard. Our costs are now clearly represented in the BOM listing for prototypes and for production.

Get training
Available everywhere and easy to use, configure and train new staff.
What do you like best about the product?
Moving to Arena gave us the ability to have instant access to our data, 24-7 anywhere in the world. It makes my job easier since I can access the information I need right away on my smart phone.

Would like Arena to add notification lists to their routings. This would help us to inform different groups of people when an ECO has been approved.

With staff constantly on the move it lets us get approvals from where ever they are at and the information that they would need is always at their fingertips.

What do you like best about the product?
Everything you need is in the cloud, so it makes the progress of tracking changes and products very easily in a centralized location
What do you dislike about the product?
The slowness it takes load for specific activities. Arena has a tendency to crash even especially more recently with some of the updates that were done.
One of the updates I dislike the most was when Arena made the search function results within another scrolling window. Makes searches a lot more difficult to scroll through results.
