Amazing streaming experience
What do you like best about the product?
We came to POC Upsolver after facing issues with streaming CDC data effectively into our S3 data lake for a long time. We found the solution so refreshing! performance was unbelievable, and at a fraction of the cost we used to spend using other (open source) technologies. We found the Upsolver staff to be super intelligent and responsive, and we now see them as partners with whom we can grow. It is also important to note that output data remains in Parquet format which relieves us from confronting hard decisions around our dependency in the SW and gives us the ability to consume the outputs using any technology we wish, free of dependencies.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the UI and the configurations to be a little confusing (and prone to mistakes, in our use case), which brought us to enable internal users at Yotpo to deploy new pipelines using a CLI interface we constructed over Upsolver's REST API.
Also, processing sizeable historical data sets spread over a wide time frame can be slow and expensive.
Complex data pipelines, including multiple sources and triggers, are hard to implement through Upsolver (as through most streaming infra today) using lookup tables and non-intuitive syntax, I feel as if this area has much potential and I'm certainly looking forward to what Upsolver design would be for these use cases in the (hopefully near) future.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our primary use case is streaming CDC data from Kafka into the data lake in real-time. We are also streaming logs data into the data lake, and generally, anything coming in from Kafka we want to make available in the data lake. Upsolver has helped us reach our product SLAs and open up new opportunities we did not see as possible beforehand.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Upsolver offers an excellent solution in the data streaming business; these guys know what they're doing! they figured out how to solve an actual big data problem and offer a mature and resilient technology. The interface isn't always as good as I'd wish it was, but the tech certainly makes up for it.

We looked for a tool to easily recognize the source schemas, and we found it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Upsolver is a great tool. I'm glad he won the tender we launched. It is effortless to deploy and operate; of course, it has an advanced option to create custom queries or connectors.
