Accountants have transformed report creation with seamless financial processes integration

  • May 07, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

For the Infor product that I am working with, which is a financial application system, all of the accountants love to make their reports and calculations on Microsoft Excel. They use it daily for operations and reports like Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Profit and Loss. My primary use is mainly for financial processes and reports.

What is most valuable?

The key features for me in Office 365 are the formulas that I can create and design my own formulas. This includes functions like addition, submission, IF conditions, and concatenate conditions. These formulas allow me to handle any kind of report I need. It's also highly recommended for accountants and financials to use it for presentation or reviewing tables. Excel is integrated with our solution for Infor SunSystems, enabling a seamless workflow.

What needs improvement?

Enabling macros could greatly improve Office 365. I was making a tool related to Infor called Query and Analysis or Vision, which is inherited in Excel. Through it, I can create a macro, essentially a button executing several formulas in order. Having such a function inside Office 365 would be beneficial for non-technical users to easily create buttons for specific actions, bypassing the need for Visual Basic.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office and Office 365 since 2011.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The deployment of Office 365 is very fast and does not pose any issues.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not experienced any stability issues. The product is stable for me.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For me, Office 365 is very good in terms of scalability for my environment.

How are customer service and support?

I have not needed to contact Microsoft support because the product is very stable. I have a technical background, making it easy for me to use. Therefore, I have not needed technical support from Microsoft.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Office 365 is very easy. It's a next, next setup process that poses no problems.

What other advice do I have?

Office 365 is a highly recommended tool, especially for financial processes and reports. However, it also suits users who need to make presentations or review tables. My rating for Office 365 is ten out of ten, as it’s a very good solution.

Enable seamless integration across platforms and suggest enhanced collaboration options

  • May 05, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use Office 365 for handling documents and spreadsheets. In my daily work, however, I am not a frequent user of office applications as I am more of a developer. We mainly use Google for collaboration and other tools like Notion, Miro, and Figma.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Office 365 include its ecosystem integration capabilities, allowing for seamless usage across different platforms. The default settings work well for more than a decade, which is a testament to its user-friendly design. I also find the autosave and backup features, such as saving to iCloud and local storage, very useful. Although I use only formulas in Excel for basic calculations, this feature also provides time-saving benefits.

What needs improvement?

I do not have any specific complaints about Office 365, such as downtime, stability issues, or technical errors. I believe the choice of office apps often depends on the existing ecosystem of the business, and since Office 365 has comprehensive coverage, I am not missing any features that the competition provides.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have worked with Microsoft Office and its suite for over twenty years

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not experienced downtime, stability issues, or data loss when using Office 365. It is a reliable solution.

How are customer service and support?

I have never contacted customer support for Office 365, so I can't provide feedback on their services.

Neutral

The initial setup of Office 365 was straightforward and did not present any challenges. The default settings have been satisfactory.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Office 365 seven out of ten. I emphasize the integration capabilities of Office 365, though other applications like Notion, Confluence, and various Google tools are also important in my workflow. Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Collaborative document editing and seamless online file sharing elevate productivity

  • May 05, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Office 365 for standard office tasks such as word processing, Excel, presentation, and email productivity. Additionally, I manage the system as an administrator for my company.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Office 365 for me include online file sharing and real-time document editing where multiple collaborators can work on the same document and see changes in real-time. These features were integrated, likely inspired by Google Docs' success in implementing similar functions.

What needs improvement?

Office 365 could improve by providing better integration with Azure Active Directory to streamline user management. It would also be beneficial if they could offer additional support for non-ABC characters like the Malay Arabic script, known locally as Jawi.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office 365 for more than two years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There were no significant issues during migration, but users initially had some complaints about file accessibility. After several iterations of the OneDrive client, the process became smoother with fewer requests or complaints.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Office 365 is very stable with no network downtime experienced in my region in the last couple of years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Office 365 is a scalable tool. The scalability is straightforward as it works as soon as I pay for additional licenses.

How are customer service and support?

We use a third-party managed service provider (MSP) for support, who are generally okay but are not well-versed in newer technical details like Azure Active Directory.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Google solutions such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Meet before switching to Office 365.

How was the initial setup?

The setup process is generally easy, especially on newer devices with Office already installed. However, older devices can take up to two hours for downloading and installing updates.

What was our ROI?

There is no direct return on investment as IT is a cost center. The alternative is using free open-source solutions, which makes quantifying the ROI in terms of support man-hours difficult.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to the services provided and the multi-device capabilities, the price of Office 365 is reasonable. A loyalty program offering discounts or additional features for long-term users would be a beneficial addition.

What other advice do I have?

For those considering Office 365, it is advisable to implement Active Directory services for better user management. For students or family users, it is a good subscription due to the variety of available productivity suites. Overall, I rate Office 365 a nine out of ten as there is room for improvement.

Maximizing productivity with extensive features while dealing with integration challenges

  • May 02, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Primarily, I use Office 365 and Teams for various tasks. My firm works as a consulting and IT solution provider for small and micro businesses. We use Office 365 for a range of applications like Teams, Exchange, Outlook, SharePoint, Power Application, and Power Apps.

What is most valuable?

I find the extensive list of features in Office 365 tremendously valuable, including Teams, Exchange, Outlook, SharePoint, Power Application, and Power Apps. In particular, I am an end user, and I consult my partner firms to use Office 365 and Teams. I have found that Teams and Outlook are my primary applications. Furthermore, I like Copilot Pro, which I have licensed for use with Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word; it often provides excellent information and guidelines.

What needs improvement?

I have issues with call licensing problems, and there is a lack of good information about PBX and IT integration with Teams. Questions regarding licensing, such as the appropriate license needed for integration with PBX or for supporting call centers and IVRs, are common, along with inquiries about pricing for domestic and international phone calls. Additionally, I would appreciate more documentation on specific integrations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Office 365 for a few years, maybe five or more.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The initial setup is not entirely easy. A setup may require changing configurations in Exchange and Teams, but overall it is manageable. Although not every deployment is straightforward, I do not spend excessive time resolving problems. The setup is flexible.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Office 365 as eight out of ten, indicating room for improvement. Specifically, Microsoft Teams can have issues sometimes. Today, for instance, I was unable to log in to my Teams account for over an hour on my mobile. This might be due to my mobile operator or a Microsoft issue.

How are customer service and support?

In a case a few months ago, I assisted a non-profit organization, and I can say that communication has greatly improved with Microsoft. Everything was finished within five to seven days, and the support was cooperative, providing good guidelines. Microsoft is consistently improving in this type of communication.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have only used Microsoft solutions, primarily because my technical team consists of Microsoft-certified professionals. We have no experience with Linux, Google, or other platforms.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup can vary depending on the client's requirements. Some setups are quick and fast, taking little time, while others require more effort from my team, especially when clients are uncertain about their needs.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In Serbia, IT is considered expensive because our monthly budget comparison to the rest of Europe is low. With an average salary of 500 euros, Office 365 appears expensive. Many clients request discounts.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options because my technical team is composed of Microsoft-certified professionals.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate Office 365 as seven out of ten, taking into account the areas for improvement.

Enables seamless remote work and efficient communication

  • May 02, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

In our organization, I use Office 365 primarily for internal communication in the office, such as chats and sending messages.

How has it helped my organization?

Office 365 has greatly aided my organization during the COVID period by facilitating remote work, meetings, and scheduling.

What is most valuable?

In my experience, the most valuable features of Office 365 are Outlook and Teams. The scheduling capabilities of Microsoft Teams are particularly helpful, allowing me to create internal teams and organize project-related communications. Teams has proven extremely supportive, particularly during COVID when remote work became essential. Features like screen sharing and session recording have been very easy to use.

What needs improvement?

One area for improvement could be the meeting recordings. Currently, unless I change the expiry date, recordings have a default expiration period after which they cannot be retrieved. If the tool could give me more options regarding the number of days recordings are kept, it would be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Office 365 for about one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not encountered any performance issues with Office 365.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate scalability as ten. I do not face any challenges in terms of adding new users, and the infrastructure team finds it easy to deploy.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did assessments for other tools, including Google BigQuery, but nothing materialized.

What other advice do I have?

Compared to previous versions, Office 365 offers a better user interface. I rate the overall experience with Office 365 as a nine out of ten.

Emails and teamwork have enhanced productivity through effective calendaring and collaboration

  • May 02, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Our main use case for Office 365 is its use for emails and Teams meetings. We have integrated our Active Directory, specifically through Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Office 365 for our team include email and Teams. We use calendaring, which plays an essential role in our productivity. Additionally, Microsoft Intune is a part of our usage, albeit it's not directly linked to Office 365. Another beneficial aspect is the integration of selectively using Copilot with Office 365.

What needs improvement?

I would suggest the inclusion of a data insights feature. In the past, there was a digest that provided insights into time distribution in emails and company mail, such as whom I communicate with most. There should be more relevant insights on the collaboration platform. It would be helpful to have an archive or a dashboard showing how much time is spent on collaborations or meetings.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office 365 for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not faced any significant downtime. There was an outage about three years ago, but it was resolved quickly and was widely reported. Overall, Office 365 is pretty stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Office 365 is very scalable for our company. I would rate it ten out of ten for scalability.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Gmail in a previous company, but now I am used to Microsoft tools and prefer them.

How was the initial setup?

I was not part of the initial setup process, but the onboarding and engagement process for new recruits has been smooth.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing is determined by our company's policy to align with Microsoft. Compared to other solutions, it may be perceived as expensive, though the decision was made at a corporate level.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used Google tools before, specifically Gmail, in another company.

What other advice do I have?

Office 365 is a reliable and feature-rich platform. To fully benefit from it, users need to explore its various tools, which enhance productivity. It would be helpful to have a popup or widget providing training tips or news about features, like what used to appear for Windows products. I would rate the overall solution an 8 out of 10.

Online collaboration improves coordination for educational tasks

  • April 29, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Office 365 for making documents and PowerPoints. This was primarily during my college days and continued after I graduated with my Master's. I am still in the education industry, so the use hasn't changed significantly.

What is most valuable?

The recent addition of having the online version of Microsoft Word is really good. It used to be not as effective, but now it closely resembles Google Docs. The connection with the sheets is also a valuable feature. Teams is really helpful because my university uses Microsoft Outlook. Integrating with Teams and coordinating with my team members is very useful.

What needs improvement?

Regarding improvement, in Microsoft Word, I suggest addressing the difference in page length between the offline and online versions. When I download and open a document on Windows, it may show as a one-page document. However, the spacing might differ online, and I often need to re-edit to ensure it appears as one page online.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Office 365 for about seven to eight years, starting from my college days.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There were no issues during the deployment. It is pretty straightforward.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. It's the most efficient thing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Office 365 is widely used, so it has good scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I have never tried to interact with customer service or technical support, so I have no idea about it.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Google Docs and other Google applications back when I was in my home country. I am currently using Microsoft Office 365 because my peers are using the same.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing seems decent. I'm currently using a free version provided by my university. I am not familiar with the paid version cost, but the product seems good, and it’s okay to pay.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

For documentation purposes, I used Google Docs along with Microsoft Office. For spreadsheets, I had a different experience between Google Sheets and Excel. Google is slightly easier, while Excel offers better automation tools.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Office 365 to businesses, especially those using Outlook and Teams heavily. If they are using Outlook and Teams a lot, then they definitely have to have Office 365. I rate the overall solution an 8 out of 10.
