Excellent extra security layer for email

What do you like best about the product?
It integrates well with Office 365. Setting it up was easy. When a suspicious mail is sent to an employee, Avanan intercepts it, and informs the recipient and the email administrator(s) of your company. Then the email can be ignored, or the recipient can request its delivery. The email administrators can then inspect the suspicious mail in depth within the Avanan web tool, and decide to deliver the mail or not.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, nothing. The tool works well and does not interfere with the normal email flow. It works behind the scenes. There also no software to install on your employees computer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We received a lot of phishing mails, which was a risk for the company (e.g. ransomware), so we decided to add an extra security layer. We are using the tool for more than 1 year now and are very satisfied with its effectiveness.

What do you like best about the product?
As well as securing inbound email communications Avanan Cloud Email Security has also allowed us to to secure and scan internal email communications as well ensuring that colleagues aren't accidentally spreading malware or phishing attacks between each other.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, at the moment, there isn't anything that I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scanning and securing internal email communications as well as cloud based resources (Sharepoint and OneDrive)

What do you like best about the product?
The product is light weight and does not take up lot of resources thereby smoothening the process of keeping the company secure . The Avanan team keeps on improving day by day and adds features to their dashboard. They have a good ticketing system and if we have any suggestions for improvement, they are discussed with the company through the involvement of upper management. There is a good follow up process and great communication for the changes done or update made to the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Haven’t come across anything that I dislike because the team is quick to work on the issues if raised .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Avanan has the ability to block phishing attacks in real time. The algorithm they have assists in defending company against cyber attacks and their dashboard is user-friendly helping analyst investigate incidents. The policies are easy to apply based on groups within the organization. The emails are easy to analyze. The quarantine section, abnormal employee location(geo-events), mail explorer and analytics are the main highlight of the product. It also has the ability to notify users if the intelligence catches abnormalities with the incoming email. Another highlight of the product is validating an email in real-time as well as feature to investigate after the email has landed in the user's mailbox.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Avanan is easy to use and configure enterprise wide. The product Service is excellent and the team keeps on adding new features to smoothen the ease of use. They have one of the best email abnormality detection which is crucial for keeping company secure against cyber threats.

Avanan is a perfect solution for keeping organizations secure against Advanced Threats lurking in the cyber world. The Dashboard is easy to use and implement.

Avanan Proves Itself As Our Virtual Team Member Handling Email Security

What do you like best about the product?
Updated 2023/24:

Now that we have used for several years now, we still stand by this product. Phenominal and you won't be disapointed.

As bad actors change tactics, you can count on Avanan to research and adapt to counter those tactics.

A product that simply works better than anything else we compared and tested, hands down beating Secure Email Gateways in terms of accuracy, pricing, installation, and performance.

The team is also very responsive to new feature requests and advancing the product rapidly as the tactics involved in email security change very fast.

Even better is that we can rely on a single product to protect our user's email and file sharing experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Trying hard to find something, but it has yet to be found. There is nothing that we have found in our testing that has been a shortfall for the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
De-risking from Ransomware and other malware delivery, phishing attempts, and dropping the amount of SPAM hitting our user's inboxes.

What do you like best about the product?
Avanan is easy to use and I really like that if a feature is missing, their support will take into account and incorporate it into a build
What do you dislike about the product?
Like any email security, dealing with quarantined rules can sometimes be difficult but support always works with us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Infiltration prevention. Avanan has been good at preventing phishing by letting us add rules that automatically prevent those emails from ever beefing seen by users or removing them if we flag them

Perhaps adding a portal to quickly report phishing attempt with all necessary information to quickly resolve and mitigate problem

What do you like best about the product?
Since going live with Avanan enterprise-wide, we have a considerable decrease in phishing and malicious emails making it user inboxes. Our Security team also enjoys the workflow from within the portal to respond to users submitting a request for restores if something is in quarantine. It has given our team TIME back during the day to move onto other tasks. Also, we have the confidence of knowing the Avanan service is protecting us. If our leadership asks us a question now if we had an issue, we now can answer that question with facts and evidence.

Also the deployment of Avana service was done in less than 10 mins...never in 22 years have I see a service be deployed that fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not come across any dislikes about the project that I can speak about. There are some customizable items I would like to see (but not a dislike) and any feature requests have been submitted to their support site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For the first time, we have visibility into an area the Security team has never had before. We see how many phishing, spam, and Shadow IT activities. What used to take 30-45mins between Security and IT Teams to manually find emails and purge, now the Security team and do it in less than 3 mins and without having to involve another team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We looked at Mimecast, Microsoft, Proofpoint and Avanan. Security and IT teams did a POC and from the start, we noticed value with Avanan. We knew we wanted it before the POC ended.

Easy to use, seamless integration and great protection

What do you like best about the product?
Upsides: It's very easy to set up. Hardly takes 15 minutes to set up with Office 365 considering the service sits inside Office 365. The protection functionalities are easy to determine with a great-looking dashboard and easily available drill-down options. If you have a small team, they would love to use it with the summary reports and quick lookups.
Their scoring on the phishing index is quite valuable and provides a comparison between MS and industry benchmarks. The security rules and actions are easy to configure and deploy. The insights provided based on suspicious IP's and malicious events in real-time help a ton. The dashboard allows a very easy way for our teams to figure out the status of malware, phishing, shadow IT, alerts and anomalies by a quick look. results can be dug is based on these.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are yet to leverage the full functionality of the product with respect to DLP and figure out if we run into any challenges. We compared the product with others and did not find a disadvantage on any parameters.
However, the below areas can be improved upon:
1. We would like to see the AI being more adaptable and scalable in terms of timing.
2. We would recommend a training module on preview features that can be delivered as bytes size videos or a quick call with the support team as a demo.
3. The industry is getting more competitive in terms of pricing and feature sets that work perfectly. If we can add a level of protection that can go beyond email security and look at various other threat vectors to mitigate APT, it would be highly valuable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has helped us stop a ton of phishing attacks and spam email. Also, it provides a good understanding of Shadow IT in the organization by figuring out the various cloud-based applications that are subscribed using corporate email addresses. The dashboard allows a very easy way for our teams to figure out the status of malware, phishing, shadow IT, alerts and anomalies by a quick look. results can be dug is based on these.
The weekly reports provide a great deal of value while presenting the numbers to executive management and our teams do not need to spend time generating them. The analytics and audit feature is extremely useful to solve various challenges that might arise.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's an easy-to-use platform that solves the majority of the concerns and risks with a simple, easy to use interface. Our team loves the product and has been able to leverage the best of it in a very short span of time. We would recommend you to spend quality time on the demo and understanding the product. The Avanan team is helpful to extend the demo by a couple of days if needed to showcase the business value for various scenarios.
Keep the list of questions long to clarify all use cases for the business. Their team is patient to answer or find the answers when needed.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use and navigate through the UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
So there is not to say on the negative side. However, it is critical your team understand mail flow to capture all features within Avanan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spear Phishing attempts directed to the executive suite occur in every business, it has specific features to ensure these type of events do not affect the security posture of the company.

Intuitive UI, intelligent protection

What do you like best about the product?
Avanan's UI is extremely easy to use, even when it gets to the more granular settings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Bit of a double-edged sword, but Avanan is constantly working on new updates. While we obviously love the new features and Avanan is extremely willing to help out when they get released, it sometimes gets tough when we log in for day-to-day and see a new feature/UI/etc. Would love to see a public roadmap with these changes so we could plan ahead of time. Not major though, so far there haven't been any changes that caused problems/investigation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had no antiphishing solution prior, besides Microsoft's built-in with E3. We've seen a significant uptick in phishing emails actually getting blocked and Avanan's UI is much easier to use than Microsofts!
