Enterprise support for an Open Source Gem
What do you like best about the product?
As it is geared towards enterprise, support and careful rollout of features is the biggest benefit. While one could simply download a regular free flavor of Linux, companies opt for this as they provide a lot of value-added services that you otherwise would not have.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is both a blessing a curse - unfortunately because of the need to support enterprise, the version of linux is not always bleeding edge. For those customers that need the latest and greatest this can prove to be problematic. For others, it means that you're receiving software that has been carefully tested and supported.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We migrated away from Windows servers and moved to linux . We chose redhat enterprise linux for the benefit of their support of a tried and true very well tested product.
Business OS
What do you like best about the product?
The Redhat OS is a well funded OS that gives guarantee's that its customers will be running the most commercially secure OS available, RHEL is the enterprise desktop and server that is Red Hat’s bread and butter. It’s based off of releases of Fedora – the community-maintained, Red Hat-backed distribution that’s free for everyone. RHEL places a high importance on stability, since it’s meant to be used on mission-critical systems. The stability and support that Red Hat offers has made it be the top choice for an enterprise Linux operating system. I will say that allot of industry customer I have come across do end up deciding between redhat and Oracle OS - but that is neither here nor there, as they are essentially the same system with different support structures.
RPM's are able to taker the hassle out of installing software on a machine though, I often have to explain it to customers as a redhat friendly .exe file.

What do you dislike about the product?
Unlike Fedora and many other operating systems, Redhat just feels old, it feels like they haven't made any new and exciting design decisions since the late 90's, everythingis blocky and uniformly grey. The secuirty can also be overwhelming to a new user as well, as before yuou can even ssh into a machine running redhat, you must install the ssh-server & relax the firewall options around the ssh ports. Probably good for the more security focused network admins, but it can seem like a daunting task to newbies
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Testing inside of redhat assures us that our product is stable

Stable releases, low resource use, industry acceptance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Applications can get very dated and can fall behind requirements of some software you may want to run. (For instance, the latest version of Joomla requires PHP7 for full functionality, but the latest RHEL is stuck at PHP6.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Web servers, small database needs
Stability is the key, usability could be better

Stability of the OS... it just plain runs!
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't a well establish GUI interface that can be deployed to users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
