Redhat Leadership

  • October 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Redhat is a great OS for running any Linux apps. It works great as a repo, LAMP stack, and is a very stable OS that has years of excellent development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, getting new releases can be tricky and remedying problems caused by kernel updates and patching.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We primarily use it as a hyper visor, but also use it as a repository for applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a good product with a predictable life cycle. Updates typically don't break anything and support services are then when something does break.

Red Hat Review

  • July 13, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?

Redhat Linux is widely supported by the application manufacturers, so those applications could be installed easily and documentation is available from the vendor sites.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not dislike it, very user friendly. Could have more apps available. Linux drivers are terrible at best, open source software not very compatible with many peripherals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Built in support, Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Smart Virtualization cannot go wrong with virtual server

A great Linux OS with great Enterprise Level Support

  • July 04, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the enterprise class OS that we can rely on to be properly supported and maintained year over year. The wide range of support for software and packages is a real win for this platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost of support and the licensing requirement is frustrating and can be expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Running enterprise class server solutions reliably and with appropriate support for maintaining tight SLAs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
RedHat Enterprise Linux is great, however if you don't require the support you can always use an alternative distro such as CentOS or Scientific Linux!

RHEL Basic end user review

  • January 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I Work with this device somewhat indirectly as the application I manage is hosted on a Linux server. I like the ability to be able to configure some items via GUI and CLI. It's just a preferred method that myself and other colleagues are more familiar with.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing that I can think of, I work with these devices indirectly and they seem to be more reliable than if I was using a windows device.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to utilize the Linux servers in a universal forwarder configuration across our network.

Solid foundation for enterprise apps

  • November 03, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The OS is extremely stable.
Reboots are pretty rare, usually necessitated by running applications or the JVM (no fault of the OS really).
We have setup authentication against a windows Active Directory, which is convenient in a mixed environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike about RedHat. Generally (for all Linux) the command-line centric interface is a double edge sword, powerful yet potentially difficult for the novice SysAdmin.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We just need a rock solid OS to run enterprise applications, mostly within a Java VM.
Red Hat does this very well. It just works and works, which is what we need in an OS.
