Amazing from the first contact
What do you like best about the product?
Where to start? First, the sales were super keen on understanding our business and our technical needs, were very helpful in putting together several presentations about specific Airflow and dbt related topics we are interested in, and brought in an experienced engineer with whom we could go deep about technical questions. The whole sales process was as smooth as I could imagine such a thing to be. After signing the contract, I'm happy to say that our dedicated account manager and a dedicated engineer have raised the bar even higher. I loved the structure and amount of the related training materials we received; I can't thank enough the engineer who's been regularly discussing with us and advising us on how to best use the product - both the Astronomer platform and, more importantly, the Airflow itself. She's been super diligent in following up quickly whenever there was anything that required more research on her end. Last but not least - the Astro CLI and the Astronomer cloud just work, are pleasant to work with and take away any of the headaches we'd have if we were to manage Apache Airflow ourselves.
What do you dislike about the product?
I only wish I discovered and started using the service sooner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astronomer is taking care of the Apache Airflow deployment, management and monitoring for its customers. On top of that, it offers customers access to a vast amount of knowledge and experience implementing data-engineering pipelines in Apache Airflow.

What do you dislike about the product?
Compute costs incurred by Astronomer (on GCP) are more opaque and somewhat higher than we anticipated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onboarding data engineers unfamiliar with Airflow, removing time overhead of administrating Airflow, etc.

Astronomer improved our developer experience
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to test DAGs locally is second to none. You get complete exposure to what the DAG _should_ do locally so that there are no surprises when you move onto the staging or production environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Astronomer forces you to learn Docker. The curse here is that you may stumble upon a strange error message when running astro dev start from the command line if something in your Dockerfile is not correct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can experiment with new features to DAGs at a much faster rate than when we were not using Astro by Astronomer. It's that ability to test small features quickly that has won us over.
The simplest way to manage Airflow

My team most benefitted from the ability to test locally throughout our migration to Astronomer. Before, we'd have to submit PRs to our staging branch and cross our fingers. Now, we know with confidence that a PR to stage is at least working locally.
What do you dislike about the product?
Astronomer could make it easier to import environment variables.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Definitely Recommend Astro
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of spinning up new deployments, as well as being able to see DAG run stats and Worker CPU/Memory usage in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would prefer if Worker CPU/Memory could be more granular so a specific process can be identified in the case of high CPU/Memory usage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives us a singular interface through which we can access all of our Airflow deployments.That allows us to more easily direct users to the correct deployments, and also to identify which deployments may be having issues or need updates.
Hands down the best airflow development and deployment experience
What do you like best about the product?
Astro by Astronomer reduced our TCO for an airflow platform, reducing hiring requirements, and significantly increasing developer velocity.
Also, Astro is being a good steward of the Apache open source Airflow software, contributing open source improvements, as well as proprietary value-adds for their hosted service.

Some documentation is lacking but is rapidly improving.

Astro allows us to :
* scale horizontally with multiple airflow deployments for dev/stage/prod and separate departments/domains/teams
* manage enterprise RBAC security requirements
* deploy and manage a k8s cluster without in-house expertise with aws EKS

Very friendly and supportive people
What do you like best about the product?
Offered us a package sized to meet our needs. Great onboarding experience. UI is easy-to-use in comparison with others. No need to struggle with weird YAML files.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pace of upgrades to the runtime is too quick. Docs are not always caught up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It eliminates our need for DevOps staff. Interns working on R&D prototypes can create an almost production-ready system.

Few features that are innovative compared to open source airflow, method of charge based on number of tasks kind of weird, because they encourage us to use airflow at the maximum but we are derived to avoid using many tasks

We now can focus only on the business and not the infrastructure, also we can fast solve our doubts about airflow with a fast support
Astronomer is a great tool for managing airflow.
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to have multiple workspaces for each team. Also, the Astro CLI is a great tool for being able to replicate your environment locally.
What do you dislike about the product?
Airflow has a beefy architecture, so naturally the cost isn't the best. Not super flexible if I need to access private resources on a different cloud account.

Being able to isolate different airflow deployments between teams.

What do you like best about the product?
Astronomer is there to help with their expertise. No longer are you stuck mining the internet for that specific issue you are having, instead just ask support and they are super responsive and friendly
What do you dislike about the product?
The whole "black box" thing is tough to get ok with. I think they still need to cover more edge cases before expecting a black-box experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a managed solution in our own cloud checks all the boxes for a large health care company. Keeping the system in our cloud allows us to manage our security but we still get AMAZING support from astronomer.
