Steeper Learning Curve

  • March 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
D2IQ core asset is its ability to operate Kubernetes clusters in many environments like cloud computing and local servers. The flexiblity gives me the centralized control panel to manage all my deployments that are Kubernetes-based and as a result, simplifies management and reduces the level of complexity
What do you dislike about the product?
D2IQ does possess that high learning curve in comparison with some other Kubernetes platforms. A cluster set-up and its management took up more time than communicated in the beginning because there were no good available and easy-to-use documents. As there are articles and pieces of materials, the best option would be to synergize them into the ultimate guide that can help bosses especially new bosses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the new role as a D2IQ user, I can truly appreciate the multi-cluster management solution which is very important part of my work. This simplest way is having one pane glass for all my Kubernetes deployments - I can save the time and remove the errors when working with all the complex infrastructures.

Hinder the user experience

  • January 24, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
D2iQ needs to provide reliability when it comes to managing our data infrastructure. Their platform does not automate tasks consuming us time and resources. The monitoring system they provide does not ensure disruptions.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not allow us to focus on our core business operations. Their customer support team is unresponsive and does not promptly solve any concerns we have. I do have some reservations, about D2iQs customer support. It often takes them a while to respond.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Their solutions is generic and unhelpful at times. It feels like they prioritize acquiring customers than taking care of existing ones. Their pricing structure is confusing making it difficult for us to accurately determine the cost of their services.

Looking for cloud agnostic cluster management and centralised visibility? Look no further than D2iQ

  • July 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can spin up a cluster using industry-standard tools in minutes and, without any configuration, have a centralized dashboard and logging capability for all my managed k8s clusters. Also, once installed, you communicate with your clusters the same way you are used to, i.e. using kubectl. It's this none wrapping of open source technologies that I think makes D2iQ stand out from its competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much that I dislike about D2iQ's offering, but if I had to point out something, it might be their documentation. Although they have better documentation than some other companies, they could certainly improve on the sections that explain in detail how their platform works. They do have great regular blog posts that go into a lot of this, but collating a lot of this into a single place would be a great idea.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the world of multi-cloud environments, the fact that D2iQ is cloud-agnostic means that I don't need to think much about which cloud provider I am running my clusters on. I, therefore, have more time to spend on the actual application than on what it's running on, which is brilliant. D2iQ gives me the ability to spin up a cluster already configured and ready to go with all the tools I need to run a production-grade application in k8s.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a tool that removes the hard part of setting up and managing a cluster with production-grade tools, then look no further than D2iQ Konvoy & Kommander. The ability to be able to manage multiple clusters on different cloud providers using managed or non-managed services or even on air-gapped servers within a single interface, I think, is just brilliant. I would highly recommend D2iQ to anyone running production k8s clusters.

A great platform for microservices infrastructure management

  • November 22, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Support of several frameworks for scheduling different kinds of workloads and it's 2 level scheduling which results in great efficiency for managing resources. Service discovery, informative dashboards are well designed. Most of the essential features for running containers like service discovery, autoscaling, application configuration, and secrets management etc were out of the box and well designed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The CLI is not very robust and UI for marathon framework was very buggy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used it for managing a cluster of on-premise servers to run several microservices style apps. This tool provided a great insight into the infrastructure utilization and helped in real-time health monitoring.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an efficient platform for microservices based infrastructure and trying to improve resource utilization , DCOS is a great choice to consider.

DC/ OS 1.8 is all feature rich but performance poor!

  • May 17, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Data driven app development and container features. Interoperability with multiple cloud service providers, containers (Docker for e.g.) and Virtual services.
Additionally, interoperability with other container development engines is a huge plus. For e.g. you could have docker containers but still be able to use DC/OS to manage and orchestrate them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance - Stability, reliability and compatibility issues in 1.8 version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automating PaaS layer with seamless integration of app development and container delivery. Main benefits have been - Scalability, flexibility and automation. In addition, Security and compliance maintenance have been great features to leverage and implement in the application development layers. For e.g. secrets management and identity management is seamless with fine-grained access control & integration with multiple identity providers (LDAP, Active Directory, SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider upgrading to version 1.11. we did this and it has helped us overcome most of the performance issues that were encountered with 1.8. Additional recommendation would be to upgrade first before integrating with any of the continuous monitoring solutions.

One stop datacenter OS

  • October 24, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The container view feature is amazing. We can add as many services on the top of core OS and it won't budge.Another great feature is the whole source code is open source,so we can peek into or change the code according to the need. Also fast data transfer, there is less headache to restarting and thinking about the corrupted data.
What do you dislike about the product?
We can have other options with less/more features like this on the options as well. Also there is no build in application stack we can choose from for frameworks like flask, django, bottle, react, node.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We we using DC/OS for storing data. The big reason was ease of use and stacking of data clusters, fast data transfers. We can create multiple services running without a glitch. The community is very engaging and responsive regarding queries. There are many documentation for this product if you are stuck somewhere.Every cluster can serve some purpose. There is a lot of customization available. There are tools to moniter the services,There are api's available for ready use.It is highly customizable. For large and complex project we can increase or decrease the resource based on the heavy or light usage. In case of data corruption,we can even backup the whole data. There is also an option to customize according IOT apps. The dashboard gives you whole overview of the resource usage, stress levels, jobs running so that we can analyze which jobs are eating up more resource and do the right action. The is must use software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a must use software.Don't think much about it.
