More than a tool...great partnership

  • September 01, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
The visuals for cycle time, sentiment, productivity, type of work, etc. across teams and the ability to easily marry data from multiple sources in one place. The platform is easy to navigate and the data is presented in a way that it's easily understandable to all stakeholders. The weekly reports are a bonus and perfect for providing leadership visibility into how we're doing without requiring that they learn another tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
User Management is the biggest opportunity for improvement. We'd love to have the ability to share one dashboard with a group of users without allowing them to navigate throughout all the teams and metrics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allstacks is helping us elucidate to our leaders how well we are engineering and convey opportunities for improvement. While we initially looked at Allstacks for better project forecasting, we've been thrilled to find many more use cases for our Engineering managers too. We also love working with the Allstacks team. It’s been clear since our first conversation that they are committed to our successful adoption of the platform and I really like that we have a shared channel for easy communication with them. We're getting ready to launch to our MVP group and it already feels like Allstacks is a part of our team. They've offered up great suggestions to us and been very receptive to our feedback along the way.

Fast metrics for deep insights

  • August 31, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Metrics Dashboard lets me see and track my teams' performance at a quick glance. If any anomalies are found, it's easy to dig further into the issue. The ability to easily and quickly determine team performance is especially beneficial for remote teams where timezone overlaps are small and identifying / mitigating problems early is crucial.
What do you dislike about the product?
No real dislikes. There is a bit of a learning curve, but in the time I've been using the software, this has improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use the software to help me understand team velocity and predicting future throughput. This in turn helps bolster budgetary requests for personnel. It's also extremely useful for retrospectives and understanding quantitatively what append during a specific time period.

What do you like best about the product?
Allstacks has given me the ability to analyze the data on our performance metrics and optimize our development to maximize our productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
With time always being a constraint, a best practices and concise shortcut guide will help me get up and running faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an IOT company, we need to balance our development and customer feedback. It is imperative we create high-quality products that meet our customer needs.

Allstacks has helped me manage this development and optimize based on the data. I am no longer speculating how and where to make changes.

Great way to keep track of overall health and productivity of your engineering teams!

  • August 31, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Weekly reports for all my teams plus the overall report. I also love to see the inline scope changes per-epic, and the 'developer churn' on a given ticket. With everyone being remote now, its also great to see the the work patterns of the various engineers and teams.

They are also extremely responsive to questions and requests. It makes a huge difference to receive such great support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it would be great to have realtime data when digging into a specific project or issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Allstacks to keep tabs on the various teams and their relative metrics. We use it to track our large initiatives as well as the week to week throughput relative to a given team's history. We also find it valuable to see the mix of features vs bugs to provide more visibility to the rest of the business. Being able to show objective metrics related to progress and productivity to the rest of the business has been game changing.

Great tool for finding ways to improve your dev process

  • August 28, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pulls together disparate data to give insights that aren't readily obvious - it's a great edge for a scrum team that is empowered to improve their own processes!
What do you dislike about the product?
- Can be difficult to know what problem to focus on next
- In some ways is more designed for project managers / business analysts than for scrum teams
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improving scrum/planning processes

Gave me confidence in my roadmap commitments!

  • August 28, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Allstacks used my team's historical velocity and backlog data to give me data-driven forecasting showing me when in-flight initiatives were likely to complete. As a product leader who has to manage downstream dependencies for launches weeks and even months in advance, this vantage points is invaluable. With the data from Allstacks I can begin planning with my customer success, product marketing, and sales team around a given launch with confidence that the team is on track to meet the projected delivery date.
What do you dislike about the product?
The addition of a turnkey DORA/Accelerate metrics report would be really nice. There are already a number of proxy metrics they collect that can get you most of the way there, but it can be cumbersome to sew all the pieces together do to so.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allstacks makes it possible for me to plan ahead of my roadmap with confidence that initiatives will be delivered on a predictable timeline. Slips in schedule can be easily predicted weeks or months in advance allowing me to adjust expectations with customers and internal teams with plenty of lead time to avoid surprises.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have pro-active, open conversations with your team before embracing a platform like Allstacks that provides developer and team metrics. Be open about the problems you are trying to solve and what you will and won't use the data for.

"If we have data, let's look at data."

  • August 28, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Allstacks gives me the right strategic "lens" into our product development performance to let me proactively identify and address bandwidth and quality issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I need more insights. Every time I look at Allstacks I have more questions that I need the answers to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a software company, we need to make commitments to our customers and prospects. Hitting those commitments is being a good partner, which drives retention.

As a long-term product leader, I know that technology is complex and "shipping" products and features on time often requires a herculean effort. I needed better insights not only into how late we are going to ship, but also why (so that we can fix it - and be a better partner to our customers).

Allstacks has made a huge difference in two ways: To start, we now have more and better conversations as a team on what we do well and where we can improve (in product development). Rather than opinions, we all now see the same data.

More importantly, I can look in real-time at KPIs that let me spot potential problems and ask the right questions of my team. Especially with new features & “done”, it’s hard to assess how efficient we are because iterate rapidly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Love how they think and innovate - and support us. We're small shop, but they're easy to get in touch with, know and understand what we're struggling with and trying to do, and have a vision that we're excited about.

Quick Payoff - Turns out I Didn't Know What I Didn't Know

  • August 28, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We always talk about being data-driven, but I've found that a lot of organizations I've worked for fail to meet that mark. Allstacks is one of the best tools I've found that helps me understand the data I need to make the best decisions. I was a skeptical early user of Allstacks because I wasn't sure of the value it would add. Looking back, it was a classic case of "don't know what you don't know." It's hard to understand where you're missing the mark with data when you don't have the data to tell you. When we implemented Allstacks, we found three significant gaps in performance - all three were leading to output and velocity issues. They serve as our objective measuring post, and that's something the team has appreciated. I spent years trying to build out custom tools to do what Allstacks is doing, but as business cases changed, the tools that I had built became legacy. Not to mention, all the time I spent building those tools left me unfocused on our core build. Lastly - I've been very impressed with the team. They are the perfect blend between technical know-how and business savvy, and their product represents that. They've helped me understand how the actions we take on their data insights are directly impacting the P&L, and my executive team finds a ton of value in that.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the early days of my contract, I found that the Allstacks team was building a few core features that we needed to make the best use of the tool. We had to wait on them to deploy. They were very upfront going in, and priced accordingly, so it wasn't a big issue. They have since overdelivered on those features, and we're very happy to be a customer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was having a discussion with a colleague the other day about Allstacks. We both settled on the analogy of "seeing the whole field" as a way to describe Allstacks and what they've provided to us. There aren't any blind spots anymore (in the technology and in the business).
