Gave me confidence in my roadmap commitments!

  • August 28, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
Allstacks used my team's historical velocity and backlog data to give me data-driven forecasting showing me when in-flight initiatives were likely to complete. As a product leader who has to manage downstream dependencies for launches weeks and even months in advance, this vantage points is invaluable. With the data from Allstacks I can begin planning with my customer success, product marketing, and sales team around a given launch with confidence that the team is on track to meet the projected delivery date.
What do you dislike about the product?
The addition of a turnkey DORA/Accelerate metrics report would be really nice. There are already a number of proxy metrics they collect that can get you most of the way there, but it can be cumbersome to sew all the pieces together do to so.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allstacks makes it possible for me to plan ahead of my roadmap with confidence that initiatives will be delivered on a predictable timeline. Slips in schedule can be easily predicted weeks or months in advance allowing me to adjust expectations with customers and internal teams with plenty of lead time to avoid surprises.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have pro-active, open conversations with your team before embracing a platform like Allstacks that provides developer and team metrics. Be open about the problems you are trying to solve and what you will and won't use the data for.

"If we have data, let's look at data."

What do you like best about the product?
Allstacks gives me the right strategic "lens" into our product development performance to let me proactively identify and address bandwidth and quality issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I need more insights. Every time I look at Allstacks I have more questions that I need the answers to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a software company, we need to make commitments to our customers and prospects. Hitting those commitments is being a good partner, which drives retention.

As a long-term product leader, I know that technology is complex and "shipping" products and features on time often requires a herculean effort. I needed better insights not only into how late we are going to ship, but also why (so that we can fix it - and be a better partner to our customers).

Allstacks has made a huge difference in two ways: To start, we now have more and better conversations as a team on what we do well and where we can improve (in product development). Rather than opinions, we all now see the same data.

More importantly, I can look in real-time at KPIs that let me spot potential problems and ask the right questions of my team. Especially with new features & “done”, it’s hard to assess how efficient we are because iterate rapidly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Love how they think and innovate - and support us. We're small shop, but they're easy to get in touch with, know and understand what we're struggling with and trying to do, and have a vision that we're excited about.

Quick Payoff - Turns out I Didn't Know What I Didn't Know

What do you like best about the product?
We always talk about being data-driven, but I've found that a lot of organizations I've worked for fail to meet that mark. Allstacks is one of the best tools I've found that helps me understand the data I need to make the best decisions. I was a skeptical early user of Allstacks because I wasn't sure of the value it would add. Looking back, it was a classic case of "don't know what you don't know." It's hard to understand where you're missing the mark with data when you don't have the data to tell you. When we implemented Allstacks, we found three significant gaps in performance - all three were leading to output and velocity issues. They serve as our objective measuring post, and that's something the team has appreciated. I spent years trying to build out custom tools to do what Allstacks is doing, but as business cases changed, the tools that I had built became legacy. Not to mention, all the time I spent building those tools left me unfocused on our core build. Lastly - I've been very impressed with the team. They are the perfect blend between technical know-how and business savvy, and their product represents that. They've helped me understand how the actions we take on their data insights are directly impacting the P&L, and my executive team finds a ton of value in that.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the early days of my contract, I found that the Allstacks team was building a few core features that we needed to make the best use of the tool. We had to wait on them to deploy. They were very upfront going in, and priced accordingly, so it wasn't a big issue. They have since overdelivered on those features, and we're very happy to be a customer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was having a discussion with a colleague the other day about Allstacks. We both settled on the analogy of "seeing the whole field" as a way to describe Allstacks and what they've provided to us. There aren't any blind spots anymore (in the technology and in the business).

What do you like best about the product?
Visualizations are money. Customer service is awesome. They really care
What do you dislike about the product?
They’re a startup right now so that comes with a few quirks, but nothing they won’t keep buttoning up with time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to know what our engineers are doing. This is a seamless way to get insight into what’s going on With quantitative data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get to know them. Half the battle when it comes to buying saas is knowing the people backing the software will be there to ensure your expectations are met. These guys understand that alongside all of the code they’re pushing.

A must have to understand and take actions with your technical teams.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to classify teams and compare metrics that align to KPIs is critical for anyone responsible for technical teams. The reports generated from Allstacks help me know where my areas of improvement are.
What do you dislike about the product?
There aren't really any dislikes, more just feature requests and the team at Allstacks is working with us to develop this additional features. It is a solid product and is only as good as the data you drive to it. If it could only make my team put estimated due dates in tickets. :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We leverage both internal and offshore development teams and Allstacks helps me create benchmarks for both. I can use the data from Allstacks to negotiate better deals with my offshore teams. Im also using the data to revise processes and identify developers who might need training.

Gave me insight into what I knew in my gut but didn't have the data to back up

What do you like best about the product?
Allstacks gives insight into what Project Managers inherently know about their projects but don't always have the data to share. I really appreciate how easy this tool makes it to share data with stakeholders. As a project manager, I am close to my projects and know what's going on but having that clear data to share isn't always so easy to pull together. This tool helped solve that problem. Not only did it report on the real time statistics but the forecasting reporting was also very helpful as a cross reference to the estimates the team was putting together. I would recommend Allstacks to anyone trying to gain a deeper understanding of project status, team performance, and trends.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there can be too much of a good thing. There is tons of data to review, some pages could be simpler to understand as a new user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A real example of a solved problem was a process breakdown we didn't know we had. The reports I was receiving about what the QA team was working on weren't lining up with what the dev team was seeing. Allstacks gave us user data from Jira on a level that showed that there was a process breakdown. The level of data wasn't something I was able to get from Jira itself. With the more granular data we were able to identify the issue and amend the process so the dev team got QA feedback faster.

Phenomenal team and code health monitoring software + forecasting

  • March 22, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- An incredibly detailed suite of reports across all aspects of our engineering lifecycle, from Slack to Jira.
- Great metrics and breakdowns. Has everything I would have wanted to measure myself, and a number of new ways to cut the data that I had not thought to measure before.
- Intelligent in its measurements and predictions – for example, the overtime analysis counts 'major event' activity and not just sending a quick slack message, allowing me to more accurate tell who on my team might be overworked.
- Forward-looking reporting – most analytics tools just help you cut historical data, this also applies it on a go-forward to see how we are trending toward our launch dates.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Would like some power-user abilities, like a bit more customization on how some reports are visualized, exports, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Getting more predictability in our engineering cycles – have already begun to realize this after just a couple weeks of using the tool by drilling into some key metrics that drive our releases and utilizing their related features like the 'Portfolio' and 'Milestone' reports.
- Better insight into team health – been able to use a lot of the breakdowns to see what is and isn't working well across the different pods on our engineering team.
- Analysis of strengths and weaknesses of different team members – was able to numerically confirm anecdotal things I have noticed in a couple cases already, and look at other areas with new, more holistic, perspective.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the demo! I was surprised at how much value I found immediately – initially thought it would take a lot of setup.
