Udacity Experiente Review

  • July 20, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
a) It's really good at transfer of core knowledge of chosen domain - maybe you can find some courses from other companies that contains scattered parts of it. But with Udacity You know that after the course You will be ready to use obtained knowledge in meaningful way, maybe You don't know everything but You know enough to use what You learned from domain that You wanted fast.
b) It's not another just watch to pass courses - You have to keep on track to learn and be able to use what You learned in order pass projects. Thanks to that I think certificates after finishing courses are worth something.

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
a) Pricing is really high especially for countries other than US/core EU.
b) Despite Udacity efforts I think there is still huge gap between gently introductions at start of course (before first project) when it feels like You are led by hand and what is required later near final project. I know it's for enforcing self work but I just hope for better proportions (now its like 80% to 20% and I would hope for 50% to 50%).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used courses in raising qualifications before the upcoming project in which we implemented simple AI.

AI programming with Python

What do you like best about the product?
I like the balance of theory and practical in this course. Honestly, it was worth it as it gave me confidence to work on image classification problems using neural networks on my own after graduating
What do you dislike about the product?
Didnt remember disliking anything. Although the course is through videos, you can always ask your mentor in case you are stuck at understanding a concept or submitting a project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udacity helped me gain skills needed in the field of AI and machine learning which is in demand.

Review of Self Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree

  • July 19, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Udacity's content is very practical rather than academic, and teaches skills that you can apply to real world problems on your own.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost of Udacity's Nanodegrees have been increasing over the years, and this puts off many prospective students who are otherwise keen to learn from Udacity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working on autonomous vehicles, and this Nanodegree has given me a great overview of the different components that make a self-driving car work.

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.

The clearest most thoughtful path to learning.

What do you like best about the product?
For someone completely new to python and SQL, each lesson was explained perfectly and exactly at the pace I needed to feel confident I could learn the material. The IDE and user experience is FAR better than the competitors. The project reviewers are tough but thoughtful. I was given real feedback and prepped for the job. I'm excited to start another course, and I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting stuck a few times felt tough, but I think that's where the best learning came in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udacity taught me python, SQL, and Git in a straight forward way. I used the skills to prep for a data science bootcamp and would not have made it through the boot camp without the foundational knowledge I learned from Udacity.

Great Platform for Career Change/Takeoff in Tech

  • July 18, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I loved the fair and timely feedback from project reviewers and how each project work forced me to think deeply about concepts you wouldn't get from most MOOCs. I also loved how the videos were short and concise and explained most concepts accurately.
What do you dislike about the product?
For the particular Nanodegree I took, the cross over between Georgia Tech's Online Master of Computer Science lectures and Udacity's own content made the experience somewhat confusing. Basically I found GTOMCS lectures to be more difficult than Udacity's own lecture.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Usually to update my technical skills and I found out Udacity has done a good job in constantly producing relevant content with respect to current trends.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great kickstarting learning on several advanced tech topics in a structured manner. Although the price is quite expensive relative to other MOOCs i think it's worth it.

Business Analytics Nanodegree Review

  • July 18, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
DISCLAIMER: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.

The highlight for me was the relevance of the subjects taught, the gradual learning curve which made it very motivating as you could follow but also be challenged to grow, as well as how the projects were presented.

When I say the relevance of subjects taught, I admit that I may be a little biased. The course covers basic marketing and business principles, and then the essential tools namely Excel, SQL, and Tableau. The job I got after I completed this course is literally in digital advertising and marketing, utilizing Excel and Tableau dashboards. I truly felt this course was almost made for me.

The gradual learning curve is just right in this nanodegree. It presents itself as a very approachable course and challenges you to strive to do better through its projects. I decided not to publish my projects because I felt I did not put enough time into them (more on that later), but truly the projects will push you creatively and technically, which is essential for this kind of work.

And lastly, the projects were very memorable. A lot of times when you want to approach these technical projects, it may be a little bit daunting especially with a lack of guidance. That is what Udacity offers, just enough of a nudge to get you over that tipping point and to start trying, to start tinkering, and to start being on your way to become a business analyst.
What do you dislike about the product?
If there was one thing I thought could have been better, it would most likely be the projects. The projects involved datasets that were largely basic and overused, and that is a huge reason why I decided not to publish them too prominently. The one change I would suggest is to make the projects a bit more of an exploratory process, which I understand can be difficult because of the number of students but would most likely produce much more memorable and sellable products for students to present to employers.

I believe that Udacity's 1:1 mentorship can truly achieve this, so I'm hoping to see what is in store when I take my next Udacity course!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Honestly, like 90% of my work. I am astounded everyday with how much return this Udacity course has given me. It has made my jump into a new industry (political science moving on to pharmaceutical marketing) a difficult but manageable transition. I can easily attribute this to the basic business principles, the Excel dashboards, and mighty (and clearly trendy) Tableau.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Understand what it is you are hoping to get out of the course. And make an oath to yourself to do your own projects after this. Before you start another online course, make sure you produce at least 1 project that you are immensely proud of and have put significant work in.

Good courses

  • July 16, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The learn by making approach. Better feedback than most of other cheap online courses around (someone reviewing your homework, video call sessions).
What do you dislike about the product?
Udacity promotes itself as being able to land you in your dream job just with taking a 3 months course. I did a nano degree after many years programming, to close some gaps and was useful for my objectives but I think what Udacity promotes in their website is a bit misleading.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A quick way to get to know and use the latest JavaScript frameworks.

Challenging projects well worth the time

  • July 16, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The projects that were required as part of the program. The projects were challenging and forced the students to reinforce the materials learned in the lectures
What do you dislike about the product?
100% online courses require discipline and can be difficult to keep up due to demanding work schedule. I find the combination of online and in-person classes to be most effective
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
learning data analysis and machine learning
Recommendations to others considering the product:
keep discipline schedule

A very practical way to improve your skills

  • July 15, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In my view, Udacity offers a hands-on approach to learning which is very well suited to build a great portfolio that appeals to recruiters and builds trust in your own abilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can' t think of any drawbacks to using Udacity. If I had to say something, maybe I would say that sometimes you feel that some subjects could have been dealt with a little bit more in depth, or the other way round. However, one has to understand that a team of experts reviews the contents and decide what they think best meets students' interests.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udacity is very practical, and you can build things from the very beginning. Then, it very much depends on you whether you push yourself to make outstanding projects. In addition, the distance learning nature of the programs makes them ideal if one has work and/or family commitments.

Self Driving Car Engineer Term 1

  • July 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Lots of opportunities to learn - linear algebra, calculus, c++. The course starts with opencv implementation of lane detection, followed by behavioural cloning and Kalman filter implementation. So, one can get lots of exposure on different types of implementation. The course gradually scales up on difficulty level.

“I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
Explanation of kalman filters could have been better. It felt like a black box without the proper derivation. There is very little amount of peer learning in study hub. My mentor at study hub didnot had the certification of Self driving car engineering nanodegree and hence he was all over the place when asked about explaining intricacies of Kalman filter.
Most of the time it came down to sharing some links from stackoverflow or medium articles. This needs to be improved.
“I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The nanodegree revolves around creating a narrow autonomous system. In terms of technical skills, I learnt c++ and brushed up my knowledge on linear algebra and calculus. I already had a nanodegree on machine learning advanced and varied topics like Lenet implementation for object detection and behavioural cloning boosted my confidence.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is expensive and the market for the skils acquired may be very small. Tech companies hire best of the best lot from the top colleges.
