Great springboard into new topic; 3 nano degrees in

  • July 12, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
Disclaimer: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.

A recruiter one time asked why I choose to take Udacity over other platforms. It puts learning on autopilot for someone with a full schedule (but has a technical background).

- Structured content leads to reviewed projects
- Varied content makes content more memorable - Video content + reading + hands on work (as opposed to reading a textbook or a technical paper)
- The community gives it a human aspect and with the staff support can quickly get through hangups
What do you dislike about the product?
Now that I am more comfortable with the topics, I am less willing to pay for 1-on-1 support and the increased fees (almost double). Perhaps i am not the target audience and that is okay.

Quality of the feedback for the project evaluations are hit or miss.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wanted to get myself started on a topic to build a business. I feel like I have a good springboard to learning more and having options to work in those industries.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good for getting into new topic - better with devoted time

Udacity Nanodegree

  • July 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Despite the fact that I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review, I really like Udacity formation. I finished one Nanodegree ( Data Foundation ) and I'm currently enrolled in 2 more ( AI for PM and AI Programming with Python Nanodegree). My experience has been great. The content is great, not like other Online platforms. Project Based education is the Key, and having custom feedback and help is great. Definitely, I'll continue broadening my knowledge with Udacity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Due to I'm working full time, sometimes I fill too pressured to finish the Nanodegrees on time. I understand that having a timing is a good way to make student finish the courses, but this could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm improving and learning a lot of new skills that help me advance in my career.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it only if you will be committed enough

AI Programming with Python Nanodegree Review

  • July 10, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The AI Programming with Python Nanodegree course provides you with a series of exercises and hands-on projects that solidifies the understanding of the concepts taught in the course. What I loved about the course was how challenging and rewarding these projects were and that you have a mentor that supports you in completing these projects, unstucking you and motivating you to continue. I feel really proud of the projects I have completed as part of this course.
What do you dislike about the product?
The course consists of a series of lessons that cover various areas of data science including Python programming, data manipulation, visualization, and augmentation. In addition, the course covers maths and the complete background on neural networks including programming them with Pytorch. However, one might argue that the data manipulation and visualisation parts of the course lacks coherence and is rushed over. You are not given as many opportunities to complete exercises or code projects to master these areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since taking on the course, I have built upon my python programming and data manipulation skills to the point that I have used this skill set at work to build data science models for civil engineering clients based on their data. My models helped my clients to improve the operational concept of their assets. The course also provided me with an amazing foundation for building upon my knowledge in maths, statistics, machine learning, data science and deep learning. It made me passionate about ML to the point that I have started my own machine learning meetup group in London.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Udacity provides one of the best e-learning courses on the market in particular in the field of AI and machine learning. I have researched all of the courses on the market by looking at the detailed syllabus of each and what I have found is that almost always, Udacity courses are the most complete.

Nice Platform to start a new Journey.

What do you like best about the product?
You don't need prior experience and you don't have to be certain that programming is right for you. Maybe you just have this nagging feeling that won't go away, a creative spark in you that refuses to be ignored. This is a safe place to uncover, explore, and expand what your creativity and imagination are capable of. This program is a commitment, but it takes time and dedication to peel the onion that is YOU.

So now that I've graduated, do I know for sure that acting is my calling in life? No, but within two months of completing the Nanodegree program in programming, I had a chance to work for a small IT company in Germany while I was living in Malaysia.

Are you hoping to experience just one or two creative breakthroughs? Or do you want to methodically learn and practice how to achieve them consistently? At this Platform, you will sharpen your instincts, become more brave, confident, and free. And who knows, you might decide to do a couple of apps afterwards.
What do you dislike about the product?
I started another class after finishing my Nanodegree program on a scholarship but was not allowed to finish it because something but never received the reasons why 1/3 way in i had to stop. Also considering that I was unemployed during the time, I found it was a bit expensive monthly 200 dollars.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has help me to understanding different programming languages, and for now I am using my small knowledge to educate my 3 children and prepare them for the future...I wish I could learn more and expand knowledge so that I could actually write codes for apps, but I had to take another job first to be able to pay the bills. I understand the foundations but have not reached the level yet to write my own code...not to mentioned that I know have forgotten quite a bit.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it.

Great courses for learning tech skills

  • July 10, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are three main things that I like about Udacity:
1. The design of the curriculum and its sound pedagogical approach,
2. The real-life projects,
3. The real mentors and student community.

1. The design of the curriculum is up-to-date. It might depends on the level of learners, some might find the course easy, other might find the course quite challenging. I would consider the breadth and depth of Udacity curriculum are fair. The way the courses are taught is by dividing each point of learning into small chunks that makes the learning process more digestible and flexible.

2. The projects are exciting. Again, the level of difficulty of the projects depend from learner to learner, but I would consider it quite fair.

3. The mentors are real human which make the project reviews more personalised and the support from the mentors and student community is awesome.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although the courses are great, it comes with slightly higher prices compared with other platforms. It would also be better for the course to provide more in-depth exercises (which can be made optional or as additional materials).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udacity has given me solid background in programming skills that will be useful in learning more in-depth materials. It has also provided me skills in front-end web programming and data analysis skills.

Disclosure: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would normally try taking Udacity's free courses first to get a feel of the course before committing to its paid courses. But once one decided to take its paid courses, make sure one finish it and make full use of it by completing the projects at one's best capability and ask questions and interact with other students and mentors.

Great platform for career change in Data Science

  • July 09, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful part in the overall learning experience are the Projects. Working on projects as well as the necessary documentation in the Jupyter notebook helps to understand the the theoretical concepts, which you go through in the lectures, properly.
Another helpful platform provided by Udacity is Discussion Forums. I found it tremendously helpful when I got stuck while working on projects. Questions asked by other students help you to understand issues that you might not have faced while working on a concept.
What do you dislike about the product?
- The pricing has been changing a lot lately, with significant year over year increase .
- I think there should a consistency when it comes to using packages while working on Nano Degree. When I worked on MLND I worked with Keras for Deep Learning and while working on DLND I had to work with Pytorch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been working on Machine Learning related projects using the skillset I built while working on multiple Udacity Nano Degrees. Udacity helped me to build a portfolio of projects that I can mention on the resume, and which I continue to work on.

Disclaimer: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its a great platform to kickstart your journey into new technical areas. Make sure you go through curriculum of multiple nano degrees before you finalize one to start working. You can talk to customer support too, to know more about any particular nano degree

Some excellent Nanodegrees and others are sadly just rushed to market

  • July 09, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Udacity provides access to a dedicated mentor and group chats to help going thru the classes. The courses are usually well formatted and alternates with exercises. The difficulty ramps up normally.

“I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review."
What do you dislike about the product?
The price of a Nanodegree has double up since they put back monthly subscription. Before term enrollment (1000 USD for 4 months + 28 days extra) it has gone from 200 USD/month to 400 USD/month! It would not matter if the content was justifying these prices, like the C++ Developper ND, but the Data Engineer one is just a shame at this moment, and I think students are being used as guinea pigs for this one. Moreover, project reviews are sometimes pretty good and other times just awful and botched. Same thing with mentors where some are always helpful and reachable and others just available once a week. Help desk has gone trough some changes too and it is hard to reach them for some situations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Let me be clear, Udacity offers some content (Self-Driving Cars, Robotics, Flying cars) that is impossible to find anywhere else, even in formal universities. This is where it can really shine and where it is useful to pay the big bucks. Sadly, I think marketing has taken over, and that the first vision for Udacity (provide essential skills for workforce that want to learn online and doesn't have money for formal university) has faded out a lot.

Extremely Poor Support

  • July 09, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Some courses has professional instructors.
- The course projects are practical and useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no difference, you have a technical question or need a career support. In both cases I had a very poor experience. It seems like there is no human being there to communicate with you and understand you needs. Support team acts like pre-programmed bots. I am not saying this as a metaphor, that's my exact feeling. The support team has some templates and it copy and paste them to reply to my requests. No humane side exist in their replies at all. I think that the support replies are AI generated stuff. It can not understand what exactly you mean. It replied my requests based on strict guidelines without any empathy. Based on my experience I absolutely felt I'm texting with a chat-bot whenever I asked about something. This AI find a way to say NO, we cannot do that and mark the request as replied. It's not acceptable for a learning platform to act like this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning new skills.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't pay anything related to career support. Their career support is terrible. Absolutely not worth it!

Worthwhile Data Analyst Nanodegree

  • July 09, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The projects are really good for validating and showcasing skills learned.

Disclosure : Udacity stated I will receive a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
Student support and mentor service are not as advertised - non responsive or lengthy wait is common theme.

UX on Student hub UI is bad, the contents get aged out of view (just like Slack's 10k messages), need to go to Knowledge Hub to ask questions, which hardly get any quality answers. These two just do not match what Slack can provide all at one place.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The DAND contents really help me having a good grasp on data wrangling and visualization. Good contents on Practical statistics as well, overall I find this is a well structured course to get a good foundation on data related skill competencies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The pricing for ND is too steep and support is not great. It is also not accredited. 1-1 mentorship is hit and miss, be prepared to be on your own to search for answers to your questions. If you are self starter and motivated the learn, it can be a successful learning experience.

Machine learning Engineer Nano degree

  • July 09, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Detailed concepts. I really loved the reinforcement learning part

Note - I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
May be the length of the program. 6 months is a great commitment for a working professional
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I could have a portfolio of datascience projects after this course. I brushed up my rusty ml skills post college.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its an elaborate course material. Dont expect consistency among multiple tutors. They all have their own ways in expressing the concepts. Patience is very important for a 6 month commitment
