    Shubho G.

One of the best online educational services providers for AI/ML learning

  • July 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Courses are taught by leading researchers in each area (i.e., true experts). Method of teaching is effective as it "breaks down" complex topics in a manner that should be more understandable. Deadlines and process of getting you there helps put the pressure to keep you on track and help you meet your goals. Projects are interesting and quite challenging.
What do you dislike about the product?
Good mentors are hard to find (most give you the answer but don't help you understand how to get there or tell you what is wrong with your code - you have to figure it out). Ongoing 1:1 mentoring is not available for all courses (I had this for the Deep Learning course and it was invaluable; with the Artificial Intelligence course, you do get weekly office hour sessions with the teacher). Learning curve can be steep. Some areas are not well explained, and you have to supplement these with your own additional efforts, through online searches or books.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Udacity as my primary means of getting the knowledge to start my own startup. I have seen some immediate benefit in getting hired into a AI organization (I received my first recruiter call for a leadership role in a startup). I am yet to gain the full benefit of starting my own thing as I have to take a few more courses to achieve that.

Learnt much, always applying all the concepts

  • July 04, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I found Udacity a true powerful tool for my continuous learning mainly due to the rich content found and the 'hands on' approach.

To me it is very important, being already a professional, learn new skills in a compact way, being ready to apply them. Having examples ready to be used and having to code by myself helped me a lot to fix the concepts in my mind already in early stages. This allowed me than also to have ready and at disposal algorithms to be tailored for my needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite the general very good quality content, I found some teaching way to vague or not sufficiently deep in the math content.

Other times, the lessons focused to much on pretty easy stuff, wasting time that could have be used to dig more in advanced topics and/or examples
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm exploiting Udacity to get more knowledge in ML topics to apply new ideas and alogs in the investment space, my passion and (hopefully) my future field of work.

I recommend Udacity Front End Developer and React Nanodegrees

What do you like best about the product?
I am so pleased that I tried the Udacity Front-End Developer Nanodegree program. I liked it so much that I immediately after enrolled in their React Nanodegree. In both courses, Udacity has effectively taken a large body of information and condensed it into small, absorbable pieces with quizzes, checkpoints and projects along the way, all of which has allowed me to master an array of skills in a relatively short period of time. The code reviews by people who are expert in the field have been extremely detailed and valuable, and the resume, linked in and github reviews were also insightful and certainly distinguishes Udacity from other online courses out there. I have also watched some of the webinars they've offered on career development, which have been professionally delivered and contain useful perspectives.

(I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.)
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that the Student Hub is a good idea--to get students to talk amongst themselves--but I have found that it feels very noisy in there, due to the huge range of postings that might appear. The Knowledge Hub/Base in contrast is easy to search and some really useful information can be found there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am planning to return to work after an extended leave away from the formal work place, and Udacity has given me a lot of focus in brushing up my skills and in figuring out what I most like to do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It may seem costlier than other options, but it is well worth it!

Udacity helps in shaping your new/existing career!!

What do you like best about the product?
Before taking my first course on UDACITY, I discussed with one of my friend who took Data Scientist nano degree program and he suggested me you want to enhance your skills UDACITY is the right place. That's how first time I heard of UDACITY. I googled about it and found good reviews. I was interested in learning about Self Driving, and so I took a nano degree program.
I found the entire course is very well organized and comprehensive! They have good projects that you have to submit and you receive feedback about how you have implemented the project, what you could do better! The best part is, you have a Mentor available to help you if you are stuck and need help! You can directly chat with other students in the same course! It's really a great place to improve or learn new skills!

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
I took Intro to Self Driving Nano Degree program. The only thing I didn't like was, the software implementation part was more focused on Python and less on C++! Neither Python nor C++ is the prerequisite for this course. I am week in Python and so I had to struggle completing last 2 projects!
Well this might be a concern for me and not for others!! Definitely I am going to take a Python course before enrolling in other Nano Degree Program!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Well, for me, I took Intro to Self Driving Nano Degree program because I want to change my career in that direction! My current roles and responsibilities don't need what I have learned from UDACITY! The benefit is I am gaining confidence that definitely I am going to shape my career the way I want with the help of UDACITY nano degree program!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would strongly recommend to take a course on Udacity! It's well organized and comprehensive.

Great content with added career benefits

  • July 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Udacity helped my get me more technical skills and land a job in a new industry. The course content was great. They have a lot additional benefits like career advice, Q&A sessions etc. that you don't get on other online learning sites that only deliver content. Udacity is more career oriented and it makes a difference. Their content is also more relevant and tailored towards finding a job in high-skill tech industries.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my opinion Udacity has become way too expensive compared to other online learning offerings, especially in the deep learning field where there are a lot of great courses with similar material which are a lot cheaper or even free. I wish they had a cheaper payment plan for people who are not interested in the additional career and tutoring offerings. (I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I learned a lot of new skills here and a couple years back helped me even find a job.

Inspiring Learning Journey

  • July 03, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Efficient 1-on-1 mentor support
For me, this is the key differences between Udacity Nanodegree Program and other online learning experiences I had before at Youtube, Udemy and Coursera, etc.
I used to give up for struggling with the unknown bugs while doing projects in other online learning experiences and felt frustrated; however, I never encountered this scenario during Udacity learning journey since I can always reach out to my mentor for help and the mentor support really helped me overcome the hurdles while doing difficult projects during the Nanodegree program!
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau training tutorial could be more solid
Compared to other Tableau training courses I had before at Udemy, the Tableau training in Predictive Analytics for Business and Data Visualization Nanodegree program was not so solid, I highly relied on my previous Tableau learning experiences to do the projects. Though I understood there is a trade-off between the breadth and depth of tool usage, it would be terrific if both Nanodegree programs can cover more on Tableau skill training since this is key for the junior business analyst to gain more competence during their early career life.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Participated in the following Nanodegree Programs
- Predictive Analytics for Business Nanodegree Program : Learn to conducted the predictive analytical problem by applying the data problem solving framework, Alteryx and Tableau
- Data Visualization Nanodegree Porgram : learn to create the data narrative from scratch by applying the concepts such as issue tree and ghost deck, and the tools such as Tableau and Flourish

*Disclaimer: I received a future discount on Udacity for this review.

Review of Deep Learning Nano Degree Program

  • July 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
“I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review."

The course has a good structure for new learners to understand deep learning. Visualization of coding makes me understand the basic concepts more. The core projects reviewers give you great suggestions and more information about this project so you can dive in it deeper. Udacity has teaching assistants to answer your questions on Udacity's Student Hub. You can also use it to contact other classmates.
What do you dislike about the product?
I faced some issues when I tried to finish the last course of Deep Learning.
There has a outdated information for Amazon's AWS.
I know Udacity keeps updating their contents but I hope they add a text like
"This video has some outdated information, please read the description below."
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Udacity to learn some new skills. I can build my own mini project and use it to optimize my workflow now. I had no experience in CS before. I'm trying to switch my career path to artificial intelligence and I acquired the necessary knowledge to do it.
