    Information Technology and Services

The right way for MOOCs

  • July 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You get hands-on experience and project work besides the theoretical key concepts (which are thankfully as bare bone as possible, to remain comprehensible). Your work is usually a "plug-in" solution to a project that can be quite complex. This way, you can fit in the missing puzzle in a manageable amount of time, but you can also take the whole project, develop it some more and dive deeper.
What do you dislike about the product?
The infrastructure is still a bit shaky, and it is difficult to set everything up on your own computer. There are online workstations, that are supposed to work like short-cuts, but they need improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work with self-driving software, now I am more confident with the involved concepts, and I am able to handle the C++ code easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.

The Nanodegrees price is to high and the career topics should be separated from the course content.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning about research areas that universities are still catching up.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Best eLearning tool in the market. However, it is also the most expensive.

Review of Udacity's Self Driving Nano Degree Program

  • June 30, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I used Udacity to learn Intro to Self Driving Nano Degree Program and Self Driving Nano Degree (SDND) Program. I liked the way they have created the content from basics to more advanced and complex concepts. They had online work-space setup to solve the problems. This helped me understand the concepts in a better way. The way the course was organized made it easy for me to grasp the concepts quickly and implement them efficiently. Plus they have real life projects based on autonomous vehicles, this helped me build a great portfolio to showcase to my new employers and helped me in the job change.

Because of this I also enrolled in Sensor Fusion Nano Degree (SFND) Program with them again.

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review, but this in no way has biased my review, because in the future I am still planning to use Udacity to further my learning and strengthen my profile.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the Intro to SDND program they had assigned one to one mentor for each candidate, this helped me solve my problems quickly, but in the SDND program they took away the personal 1:1 mentor concept instead they introduced student hub where students plus few mentors would solve your problem collectively. This caused some problems as our conversations were lost there and sometimes the questions remained unanswered. They should improve the student hub as it is not much user friendly.

Another thing that I disliked about them is the setup to run the programs on local machine for windows user is not much intuitive. I faced lot of issues while setting up the work-space locally on my machine. They setup for Ubuntu users is pretty simple and straightforward. Later to counter this issue I bought a workstation and created a dual boot Ubuntu system for the Sensor Fusion Nano Degree (SFND) Program.

They have LinkedIn, GitHub review services included in the SDND program. They also have career services that can help you with your job search once you are done with the coursework. One thing I disliked about this was there should be an option to opt out of GitHub and LinkedIn review temporarily. Due to time constraints I skipped Github review during SDND program, now I don't have it available when I bought SFND program, I will have to pay extra to buy it separately. They had clearly mentioned about this, but they should take into consideration personal constraints and allow us to postpone it within the one year after the graduation from the course. This would be really helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am an engineer and I wanted to learn the engineering behind Self Driving cars and wanted to switch my career in the autonomous vehicles field. The concepts taught in this course are directly applied in the field. This helped me understand the engineering behind autonomous vehicles. I was able to create my own project portfolio. This helped me change my job which led to salary and benefit increment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would suggest having a little bit knowledge about Ubuntu, bash scripting basics and at least a dual boot PC with Ubuntu as one of the OS, and using it for the coursework.

What do you like best about the product?
I liked the way the courses where distributed and the projects at the end of the learning modules. Also very helpful where the mentor's comments and suggestions after each project review.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn't say that I dislike a\or was not good, maybe it's just me, but some of the introductory clips are too childish and some times too long.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udacity helped me learn Android very fast and I got my apps rolling in no time. The benefits are that you can learn remotely, in your own pace and you can go trough each course as many times as you want before submitting an project.
I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try first the free courses that they have and pay attention to all the courses because some are complementary but others overlap and combine a lot of knowledge from another courses or free modules.

life changing courses

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
i have taken 2 nanodegree related to artificial intelligence and self driving car and it has led me to change careers. Prior to signing up with udacity, i tried other MOOC course providers but find that the teaching approach of Udacity works well with me. On top of that, I get to mingle with other students from anywhere in the world and we share and discuss projects together.
What do you dislike about the product?
Recently, they removed most of the team communication tools like Slack and its discussion forum. I find it more troublesome to look for answers or to mingle with other like minded students.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have managed to change career and help me to learn new technology. “I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review."

It is a nice and stimulating experience and very efficient for an AI beginner.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the best is the way the program is structured and presented. And also there are plenty of live assistance for you to go through every challenge. The projects designed in this program is very practical and updated to industry edge which can help students learn a lot practical skills to further develop the career and deepen the knowledge.
What do you dislike about the product?
If the mobile app can be improved and maintained, the learning experience will get better and more efficient. While the trouble of carrying a laptop is probably the only thing that stops me learning on Udacity all the time. Mobile app will be a much more convenient way to do the learning any time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I learn to build a image classifier with Pytorch Neural-Network models, which benefits in my future career and researches.(I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review. The projects designed in this program is very practical and updated to industry edge which can help students learn a lot practical skills to further develop the career and deepen the knowledge.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is the best MOOC platform I have ever experienced. Just go enjoy your learning.
