Udacity offers the highest quality online education

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Udacity since 2012 and it has sent me down the path towards my dream career. Their unique blend of high-quality video content and interactive quizzes make it very easy to learn complex topics quickly. They are my #1 go-to for online education.
What do you dislike about the product?
Udacity has greatly expanded its catalog over the years, but with the growing number of options, it has become harder to navigate which courses and Nanodegrees are the right fit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Udacity has helped put me on a career path towards Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I've been using Udacity since 2012 and it stays as my first go-to for online education. It has a huge catalog covering a diverse group of subjects.

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.

I have learned a lot

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
All the projects were a challenge, they motivated me to investigate the appropriate way to carry them out.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no negative observations, I have learned a lot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
He actualizado mis conocimientos y este curso me ha servido para desarrollar un par de aplicaciones para los clientes de nuestra empresa.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Is a great experience, but you must be compromised with learning by yourself, searching on the web or other sources. Udacity provides very useful guides and baselines, and a 'tutor' is always available to provide support or assistance.

React Nanodegree program

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The nanodegree:
1- definitely did NOT just scratch the surface. It provided a very in-depth, best practice-compliant material
2- In order to graduate the nanodegree, I had to present three different projects to test my learned skills in React library alone, React + Redux, and React-Native. The projects were definitely not easy.
3- Very thorough rounds of reviews on each project, highlighting even more best practice suggestions that added even more to my knowledge
4- Awesome opportunities and exposure after you graduate by hiring partners
5- The sense of support and community in the students hub and slack was very empowering
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't really run into any problem throughout my nanodegree journey.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The nanodegree definitely added a very hot skills which is React and React-Redux. It has helped me in my personal and professional projects. It also provided me the opportunity to work as a Nanodegree mentor, and so far it's fun to help others who are going through the same experience.

Udacity is an excellent platform for learning about topics in AI, programming, and data science.

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are multiple topics that are of interest to me in meachine learning, programming, and data science. The projects are a great opportunity to apply material that is learned. The feedback from the reviewed projects has been very helpful. The lectures are generally excellent too.

Please note that I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost can be a problem given the time limits on access. My schedule is somewhat unpredictable, so i cannot always work on the courses. Sometimes I have to take a course more than once before I finish, which adds to the cost. Virtual reality nanodegrees were a topic of interest to me but are no longer offered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The courses have been high yield for me. I have applied machine learning and computer vision methods at work immediately following or even during a class.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent courses if the topics cover your needs.

Starting new experience

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that given information in the courses is up to date, you get acquainted with the latest technologies in the industry. A big plus that you always can review materials even if you are graduated. Repetition is a mother of learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be perfect if Udacity could provide a job for graduated students (practice).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I never new how websites are built. Now I have created my own Portfolio site using latest technologies: www.yourappdeveloper.net

Udacity AI Nanodegree review

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Udacity AI Nanodegree provides a general overview of AI concepts along with some interesting projects. I quite enjoyed working on the projects as some of them were quite open ended in terms of the scope and the extent which gave me a lot of freedom to explore different solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
As it was an advanced nanodegree program, I couldn't finish all my projects within the term period of 4 months. I had to get a 4 week extension in order to finish my nanodegree.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The AI nanodegree was a good refresher of the general AI concepts and introduced me to the latest AI frameworks in use today.

Confident in the skills I learned

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The projects were all real-world. I never felt like any of these programs would be useless or somehow not portfolio-ready, which I felt often about projects I made in college. They also offer a lot of discounts throughout the year and I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review. So they definitely want you to continue learning something new.
What do you dislike about the product?
My most recent Nanodegree was the Front-End Web Development Nanodegree and some of the content was frustratingly out-of-date. Where a couple of sample projects wouldn't build properly. Luckily, there are solutions out there, but I did waste too much time trying to troubleshoot sample projects. They offer a lot of free courses, which sometimes apart of their paid courses. So if you're like me, you'd be spending two weeks on a course that is free, but since you are paying monthly for the entire program. You end up wasting some money. I wish they were a bit more transparent about listing what courses in the program are free to learn to save us some money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Job experience, confidence in my skills, and a wonderful portfolio of projects to display! Also once you graduate they have an extensive career support portal where they walk you through building a resume, cover letter, where to apply to, how to network, grading your GitHub and LinkedIn. It shows to me, they care about you finding a job, which was not the case with my very expensive state university.

Industry-driven nanodegrees allowing you to build your own portfolio with real projects

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The key that differentiates Udacity nanodegrees from other in-depth e-learning courses is the assessment method.
To successfully complete their path and earn a certification, you must code at least 3 real projects for each trimestrial term - a website, an app, ... depending on the course subject.
While not mandatory, they strongly recommend using git (and github) to accomplish that, just like you would do in a real job-like task.
This method really helps you acquire and practice the skills you need for a job.
What do you dislike about the product?
Udacity should facilitate keeping in touch with the community of Alumni. There is a slack channel for each Nanodegree, but it's not the best way, in my opinion.
Networking is really important and Udacity should at least offer a better option to those students that explicitly wish to get ahold of their pairs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
If you're serious about it, you get what they offer. For example, should you enroll in a React Nanodegree, you'll have the chance of learning React. If you really learn it or not, of course, depends on you. While they provide you with structured lessons, motivation, commitment and practice is purely individual.
Besides learning the techs, you'll meet many professionals on their videos. Each of them has a brilliant career and shares some precious pieces of advice based on their experience. This is all very inspirational.

P.S: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review. That does not mean they influenced my opinion, as I am currently enrolled in a second Nanodegree program (both paid at full price). I chose Udacity again because I've experienced a measurable improvement of my skills through their platform. In the fast-paced dev-world, efficiency and quality is the only way to keep up.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
To test how their platform works, you can choose a free course. But to really learn an advanced subject, a Nanodegree program offers you a better option.
But let me be clearer. You'll not find any magic or secret knowledge on a Nanodegree program. Probably, you could find also some alternative content for free.
And to be totally honest, you may likely need to integrate it with extra material (for React, I looked up some tutorials on youtube to better cover other aspects. For the iOS program, I purchased a well known huge and heavy manual as reference).
This makes sense as this program is not designed to get a fancy badge to share around but it's meant to really teach you something, which might be moderately or highly complex (some Nanodegrees program even have prerequisites).

Quality and synthesis of presented material is top notch

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The proposed projects, with real feedback from people that knows the topic really help the learning process.

The material is well curated and is easy to digest for any person. The quality of the illustrations and the tutorials / explanations are very high.

This tutorials are made by industry top experts which show you the real tips and tricks.

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is too high, but Udacity is improving in this aspect lately as of June of 2019.

If you already know some of the concepts taught on the course, it can be a little bit boring.

In the end, how much skills you gain is more related with what you do after finishing the course. So, try to do a lot of personal projects with the knowledge you gained, because usualy doing a course is not enough until you try to use this knowledge for things you really wanna do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I manly use the knowledge gained at Udacity to develop AI projects in my spare time. I am quite sure that I will use this knowledge even more as the future comes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it if the price is low enough or if you feel confident in your abilities to do it in less time than the official one with the new monthly pay option.

Nanodegree - Machine Learning Review - From an Engineer

  • June 28, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoyed the projects and the very well done lessons.
What do you dislike about the product?
I severely disliked the lack of mentorship especially when it came to the projects and the harder to grasp concepts. It was too easy (solutions are essentially copy/paste) because there is no way to enable students to wrestle with more difficult concepts with mentorship. There's also so much more that goes into preparing for a software engineering job that they do not cover (data structures, etc). This programs need to be accelerated or offer tracks that are more challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Machine learning problems - I benefited from getting practical experience working in python.
