Automation reduces intervention and speeds up threat prevention
What is our primary use case?
Our primary use case for Cisco Defense Orchestrator is the automation of playbooks. We primarily use it for this purpose to streamline processes.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is the automation, as it reduces user intervention and allows us to focus on other tasks. Since the system is automated, response times for resolving security issues are fast, providing quick prevention of threats and making us more secure against zero-day attacks.
What needs improvement?
Cisco Defense Orchestrator should be made more user-friendly overall. Currently, to use it effectively, one must be specific with the rule set that needs to be set up.
Additionally, I suggest improving its integration with other third-party products, such as Fortinet, to simplify the setup process.

I would rate the overall solution as eight out of ten.
Streamlining Network Security Management with Cisco Defense Orchestrator
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the centralized management aspect of Cisco Defense Orchestrator. It provides a single, easy-to-use platform for managing security policies across various Cisco security devices, such as firewalls, routers, and switches. This significantly reduces the complexity of handling a large network with diverse security components
What do you dislike about the product?
In my experience, one thing to consider with Cisco Defense Orchestrator is its dependency on a stable internet connection. Being cloud-based, it requires an active internet connection to access and manage security policies. If the internet connection is slow or goes down, it can potentially disrupt the ability to make timely changes to security configurations, which may be critical in certain situations.

Going in the Right Direction
What do you like best about the product?
CDO has been around for a while now and has undergone constant change and development, all in the right direction though. The interface has adopted the new magnetic interface familiar to other Cisco products and improvements in cloud management of on-prem and Meraki devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been quite a few teething problems along the way, with problems onboarding Meraki devices and CDO writing back confusing text to the Meraki Dashboard, which can cause issues. That said Cisco to try and remediate fix and improve as soon as they can.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CDO gave us a single platform for managing many remote site devices as well as bringing that together with managing our Meraki estate. We can now manage and deploy policy centrally and deliver out seamlessly whilst giving us a full audit trail in the process.
