Excellent backup tool
What do you like best about the product?
We are really satisfied with the product. We do the product management as a team. comprehensive and use the same as other backup products. It is a very systematic and application with all advanced features about backup. You can back up any data you think is important on your system. works with all computing and storage tools. With commvault, you can simplify data management in large environments such as data copying, storage, client configurations, and big data on your system. An effective and solution-oriented tool that offers advanced features.
What do you dislike about the product?
backing up virtual machines is a bit tricky. Commvault is pretty versatile, but you need to know how to use it before installing it. Logically, you can manage in the same logic as any other backup tool. However the interface could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are backing up the big data in our entire infrastructure of the bank. and We manage the transactions on a weekly basis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend the product. An application that you will be pleased with for all your operations on backup.
Commvault is an outstanding product.
What do you like best about the product?
When I used this product, we could backup every system in our enterprise. Having everything visible in one screen was a big plus. We could see that status of all backups at a glance.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a bit unwieldy to set up but worth the little bit of pain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With 50+ database instances of different databases, as well as Exchange and other Windows servers, we were able to manage and monitor all of these backups with a single monitor. We were also able to automate all of the backups and schedule them from a single application.
Enterprise Backup & Recovery solution
What do you like best about the product?
Commvault Backup & Recovery is an enterprise-grade solution for backing up servers & applications. The console is web-based which enables it to be managed from anywhere and any device. Its dashboard gives a one-stop overview of the entire backup infrastructure.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not an easy solution to configure, and you need an expert to do it. Also, it works best with a domain-based environment. Some of the alerts are a nuisance like increase and decrease in backup size, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for a robust solution and could address our data growth quite comfortably. Managing the solution was another pain point for us. Commvault provided enough storage on the appliance and allowed us to central managed the backup and recovery of the entire infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The software needs expert engineers to configure and setup.
A toolbox for backup and recovery
What do you like best about the product?
Commvault Complete Backup and Recovery can pretty much back up anything; it is like having a toolbox with lots of different tools to help with all sorts of different challenges. It is great at just doing the simple things like File server or VM backups but allows you to also solve complex backup issues with workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is fairly complex, so it is a steep learning curve if you want to use the more advanced features that it offers. The new HTML console helps to reduce the complexity but it would be great if there were even more wizards to help with the process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are backing up M365 cloud workloads such as SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Exchange Online and looking at Azure workloads at present. We moved from using on-premises backups to Commvault Cloud and the biggest benefit has been the consistency of speed compared to the throttling that MS was applying to our on-premises backups. The GUI is nice and easy to use as well.
Commvault Complete does exactly what it says on the tin
What do you like best about the product?
The wide range of applications & systems that are supported for backup.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the setup & configuration is a little complex.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Commvauly is an excellent way of creating an air gap for the protection of data. The single management pane is great rather than using multiple backup software.
A good solution for DR
What do you like best about the product?
deduplication of data and easy to configure
What do you dislike about the product?
copy rules are not very clear and could be a complicated environment for a new user
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
a good cohesive DR solution
Metallic is your one stop shop for Backup Solution.
What do you like best about the product?
The support and the ease of use to get up and running with Metallic is breathe of fresh air. All I had to do was put in a quote request, and within the same day, I got in touch with someone. They were able to get me activated and have my data backup all on the same day. I like how they will work with small to big size businesses to ensure they have protection.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't anything I dislike; I have had a positive experience with them for being a customer for a few months.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Metallic Backup is solving my worry about ransomware and the risk of losing data from accidental deletion. The benefits I receive a weekly report from their team to ensure everything backup successfully with no problem. It's nice to know my data is protected from any situation.

Metallic SaaS Data Protection on O365
What do you like best about the product?
It is a SaaS solution, Commvault has two Metallic products:
1) Metallic for O365
This is mainly to protect O365 in terms of Exchange online, OneDrive, Sharepoint, MS Teams. When I started using this product, it was hosted in Germany.
SSO and SAML integration with Azure portal works very well. The granular recovery of messages including deleted items are one of the features here. You can also still filter the mailbox of resigned or disabled users (deleted objects) and it also has infinite retention policy. For example, if you started your journey with Metallic O365 in 2019 you can still go back to this year for mails restoration.
2) Metallic Data Protection
This is another SaaS Solution it is also available now in UAE region and in Azure Cloud Marketplace where you can simply enable it to protect you Azure environment. The good thing here you can extend this tool to protect your on promise as well, but you need a proxy server that can maintain the data protection of your client machines on premise. A local storage is also required to store the data locally with short retention for faster restoration, but the data upon the local backup can be taken as an aux copy to azure blob storage and will be transferred to a cool storage at the end of the way. With this tool you can protect your Oracle database, SQL servers, filesystem, and virtualization (Hyper-V and VMware). It can also protect your Azure environment, but there are certain consideration to be taken.
The implementation for each one of them is easy and no complication.

What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing part or reporting part yet to be enhanced because some time it causes confusion to understand what is right and what is wrong.
The delegation part of mails, it is experienced that delegated mails from a backup to one person does not show all protected mails. After the delegation the user or the authorized person whom mails were delegated complained about not being able to find all mails. Metallic team were approached with this concern to clarify what could be the problem. There are various reasons here to also consider one of them is the archive of mails.
The support a bit challenging, they do not provide 24x7 support like veeam, the support also is not available or does not fall on all the weekdays. It is only 5 days and does not cover full day. it is contrary to what veeam does. I believe Metallic should solve this problem because it causes issues especially when you have severity 1, the support may take several days.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it took the headache of maintaining the infrastructure, previously admins used to handle local microsoft exchange, here you need to maintain the servers (physical or even virtual), the storage space, the troubleshooting, etc. But with Metallic SaaS this is completely taken out and handled by Metallic in the backend and nothing to worry from this perspective.
With Metallic O365 the retention is infinite and no matter what you back up it will be considered unlimited.
Metallic Data Protection for backing up servers, virtual machines, database is a bit different from O365, it is for different purpose and the retention policy is limited, the storage capacity is limited and you pay what you consume.
Metallic O365 gives complete data protection for Microsoft O365 environment.

it is a wonderful solution and commvault is providing more enhancement. we are as customers also try to add more ideas to this solution by requesting few more features enhancement. It is a SaaS solution and it can be found on azure if you use Microsoft Azure Cloud, and it will cover all your needs.
Metallic backup solution review
What do you like best about the product?
It was very easy to setup the backup jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some time the jobs will fail and you have to really dig into the logs to find the reason.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Metallic backups our Office 365 tennant. Backup & restore works seemlessly for the most part.
Simple, Complete, and RELIABLE Backups
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of maintenance - once setup and configured, Metallic has ran reliably with very few if any required manual interventions or errors. As someone who has worked at the provider level with backups, including backups as a service, the lack of constant intervention is huge.
What do you dislike about the product?
Admin interface takes some getting used to, particularly when used to more traditional backup systems. Everything is there, just not always where I expect it to be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Needed a secure, reliable system for backups for a small law firm without a bunch of overhead of additional software, tape or disks, and all the headache that can go with those.
