The power of Nagios without the complexity
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to monitor anything you want. If you can script a monitor, it can be integrated (if something doesn't already exist in the large community exchange).
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting and dashboards could be a little better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CheckMk gives us incredible insight into our infrastructure from availability to performance. Before CheckMk, we had a third party monitoring our infrastructure and they provided a fraction of the detail that CheckMk provides.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
CheckMk is a solid solution for technical people looking for a powerful, flexible, well-maintained product. Upper management may not think the UI is flashy enough, but it has definitely improved in recent years.

Excellent and efficient monitoring tool
What do you like best about the product?
Low cost and extremely well performing monitoring tool with good support from both the developers and the community as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Feature requests can be slow to be implemented sometimes because there are not a huge amount of devs. Luckily most of these issues can be solved by scripting or community help

Autodiscovery of services, special agents like MSSQL allowing you to monitor databases without being a SQL expert.

Often problems with the updater which cannot find its own Python libs and is no longer manageable.

Quick notifications for critical errors. Many plugins that cover most applications for us.
