Browserstack is a life saver for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer

  • February 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a quality assurance engineer who works remotely and coordinates in different regions of the world, Browserstack helps me reproduce customer issues as well as perform device coverage related to User Interface, multiple screen resolutions, different Operating System versions along with testing on multiple devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes browserstack gets slow to use (sessions get stuck). You can only manage one session with one email address, at times the same account is needed to be used on multiple devices to collaborate and debug with developers. It would be great to have firebase integrations so that builds are uploaded automatically for both Android and iOS rather than manually uploading them. My request would be to improve the integration of test flight, during my use a lot of times devices were stuck with trying to download builds from test flight.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sometimes it is not possible to buy so many devices and make them available for a large Quality Assurance Team worldwide. As a quality assurance engineer who works remotely and coordinates in different regions of the world, Browserstack helps me reproduce customer issues as well as perform device coverage related to User Interface, multiple screen resolutions, different Operating System versions along with testing on multiple devices.

Great interface, great features, although sometimes unstable

  • February 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One notable advantage of this platform is its provision of real device testing, a feature not commonly found on other platforms. This capability allows developers to test their applications on actual devices rather than relying solely on emulators or simulated environments. Such real-world testing provides more accurate insights into how applications perform across various devices, operating systems, and network conditions, ultimately enhancing the overall quality and user experience.

While the platform's interface is commendable, offering a user-friendly environment for developers, there are occasional drawbacks related to device reliability. Some users have reported instances where the devices themselves exhibit instability, leading to crashes or erratic behavior during testing sessions. Despite the platform's robust interface, these sporadic issues with device performance can introduce uncertainties and hinder seamless development processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite configuring my Mac appropriately, I encountered difficulty in viewing and checking HTTPS localhost. This issue persisted despite troubleshooting efforts, leading to frustration and delays in my development workflow. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the problem, the HTTPS localhost remained inaccessible, posing a significant obstacle to testing and debugging processes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
BrowserStack is addressing a crucial need in the development process by providing a platform that allows users to test their applications on various browsers and operating systems. One of the primary challenges developers face is ensuring compatibility across different environments, especially when targeting specific versions of browsers or operating systems. In my case, I encountered the need to test my application on lower iOS versions and Safari versions, which can be particularly challenging to do on physical devices due to limitations in hardware availability and software compatibility. BrowserStack offers a solution to this problem by providing a wide range of virtual environments, including older iOS versions and Safari browsers, allowing me to simulate and test my application's performance across these configurations.

By leveraging BrowserStack, I was able to replicate the exact conditions that my application would encounter on different devices and browsers, enabling thorough testing and debugging. This not only saved me valuable time and resources that would have been spent setting up physical testing environments but also provided a level of flexibility and scalability that is essential in today's fast-paced development landscape. Additionally, BrowserStack's platform offers advanced features such as real device testing and debugging tools, further enhancing the testing capabilities and ensuring the quality and reliability of my application across diverse environments. Overall, BrowserStack's solution proved invaluable in addressing the specific challenges I faced in testing my application on lower iOS versions and Safari browsers, ultimately benefiting me by streamlining the testing process and improving the overall quality of my product.
