Effective and easy Mainframe data editing
What do you like best about the product?
Allows data inteligent editing for your products. You may stablish filters and set conditions on an excel data and make changes easily. You also save your project edits and return to your project later.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes you may see a lot of variables on your programming and could be confusing for no experts on the field.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is the best way to debug mainframe programmes. There is a step over feature that allows you to reuse saved configurations.

What do you like best about the product?
BMC Compuware is easy to use; all file-handling options are available, and options such as compare files are in addition provide great value.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing about BMC Compuware File-AID to dislike it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
File AID helps to manage different types of files in mainframes such as PS files, tapes, VSAMs, GDGs. It helps to map the files to their record structure to understand the data.

- Level of support could be better.
- Available documentation and community could be better.
- Integration is still a bit behind compared to other similar tools.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are really benefitting from the fact that it makes the devops tasks easier with a lot of automation and therefore a lot less manual task. This gives the team to concentrate on more important tasks.

It's a really handy tool, I really suggest anyone giving it a try and see if it solves the problem of their team.

What do you like best about the product?
I quite like the fact that I can do everything in one place for devops, including development, testing, automation and even regression tests. The performance and speed of the tool is great and the design as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Really steep learning curve, not intuitive many times and can be confusing to use the tool. Reporting functionality could also be better as we'd like to see better kpis
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A lot of security related matters as well as issues related to our mainframe infrastructure (testing and automation mostly), and team productivity because the tool helped a lot in this area

What do you like best about the product?
In BMC Compuware Hiperstation how it include testing, development, automation, and performance management at one place along with complete DevOps toolchain that accelerates innovation and resiliency for the mainframe.
What do you dislike about the product?
The large number of Mainframe developer function seems confusing at start but as you get hands-on you realized it a benefit to explore the tool. So far not as such any partcular dislike for this.

Test changes to the operating system, language environment or subsystems along with Conducting pre-production performance testing for applications and systems software.

What do you like best about the product?
It is beneficial for debugging the Mainframe Batch Online Programs to identify the issues. Using this, we can quickly identify at which statement or logic causes the problems in the test or production environment

It will take some time to set up initially when you start using the first time

To fix the SOC7 and other data issues occurring in the test environment for the batch jobs. It provides the good options to trace the program logic one by one statement or using break point to skipped the unwanted code execution.

It provides automated load, performance and regression testing capabilities that help DevOps teams perform more testing in less time and on a more consistent basis while ensuring applications meet production performance and reliability criteria.

There is no Test Script Customization in Load Testing. No Debugging/Benchmarking and Historical Reporting in Perf Testing

Non functional testing like Performance and Autmated Load testing are now faster since it is reducing test cycles and time to deliver in the market is less.

The tool is quite good and provides the needed information and with some graphical capabilities. So nothing to dislike here.

I have monitored the system performance and was able to get the places consuming high CPU. Based on the data we could do performance improvement in the system.

Compilation and Bind with ease for COBOL, CICS and DB2
What do you like best about the product?
It does our CICS NEWCOPYs, COBOL code compilation and our Db2 binds for us before it was a manual process. It takes a lot of the workload off from developers to execute multiple JCLs for this.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't experienced any issues while working on ISPW.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a developer, we use it for change management and source control.

My advice is if you are looking for less time consuming and more productive environment then choose BMC Compuware ISPW.
