Great Introduction to programming for data science

  • August 01, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I found the material and its presentation to be very accessible. The course makes use of numerous videos which walk you through the material while providing examples. I found that the course instructors made an effort to explain nuances and relate the material to simple real world parallels.

I also really appreciated the assignment schedule. Some other programs I've tried (at other content providers) want you to submit work every week which can be very difficult if you have a personal life/commitments. The Udacity schedule set long-term deadlines and tried to tailor the material to completing the assignments without burdening you with weekly assignments.

I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review. Regardless, I am happy to share my experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more detailed examples that students could review. The videos are great but there were moments where I wanted to see a slight (very logical) variation on what was taught. I eventually figured it out (which has its own advantages) but it would have saved me time if someone had extended the prepared material.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The program provided me with a framework for tackling the type of problems I deal with at work (where I write script in a different language). I have also made use of the Git material for managing scripts at work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider your own learning style and how that balances with the amount of time you have to invest. Under the new pricing structure, the more time you take, the more it will cost you.

What do you like best about the product?
Practical projects to work on with quick and detail reviews. Dynamic and active community
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of mentoring (I heard that they had just launched the 1-1 mentoring program)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Understand the basic essential concepts of data
- How the theory is applied in real-life project
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have enough time and efforts for self-study

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy the project part, and the feedback was really quick and informative. Everytime I complete the mini-project and passed the review session, it feels like I have accomplish a 'mini-graduation'. As a mum with a 5-years old daughter to take care of, I only get time to learn and work on the project at night, I was so inspired and attracted that not realized it was 2am of late night...kind of hard to stop learning. Thanks Udacity and my reviewers, and also my mentor who recommened Udacityto me, it was a pleasent learning journey.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are small free courses and nano-degree courese in Udacity, but they are not present to student in an very orgnized way, for example, recommend some mathmatic courses together with Machine learning or Data Scientist, so student can be well prepared, which will also help Udacity to improve the metric--graduation rate ^-^.
The price of Udacity is higher than other website, and It's struggled to make the decision for the first time.I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an analyst who daily deal with data for years but has little experience of programming, I challenged myself to enroll data analyst advanced nano degree without taking the basic part, it turned out to be good. I get Python & R hands-on experience in the course, it's a beginning and open the door for continuous learning and improvement.
Now, I am so confident about myself in programming aspect.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are lots of choice in Udacity, you can always find the area you interest there. Just think about your goal and set up the path to it clearly, keep move on.

What do you like best about the product?
The content and tools you use in the courses are really up to date and based on what the best companies in the industry are using. Besides, the lecturers make complex topics into fun but challenging lectures. Last, but not least, you can get support at any time and very useful feedback on your progress. Disclaimer: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new monthly payment model is great for people who want to learn fast but you would be reminded quite often to pay (even when you are planning to finish without extending). I also think this model doesn't benefit people who want to take the course easy, as they would pay more than in the past
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
After graduating in Business Analytics nanodegree, I am able now to define business problems, work with data to define those problems, making decisions based on that data or predict business data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are considering the nanodegree of Business analytics and Predictive analysis for business, go for them, you'll gain very valuable knowledge and skills to start or scale up your career in that direction

What do you like best about the product?
There are multiple level of course from beginner to expert. I've never experienced programming when I met with Udacity. But I could learn by myself. Udacity is one of a good starting point of programming. At that time I took Android developer course.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very expensive. In the last one or two years the cost drastically raised...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I changed my career from sales to programmer.

Learned a lot through a challenging program

  • July 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The support community and the course mentors really help you out if you ever get stuck or have any questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Udacity relies heavily on video instruction, which is not always the ideal way to learn. An accompanying textbook would have made the class far easier to learn and review.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The course I took at Udacity is helping me develop a new skillset to enable me to change careers. Although it is a very good introduction, you have to do a lot more work after graduation to achieve a career change. Thankfully, Udacity provides a lot of guidance and advice to help you through the process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take full advantage of the Career Center and the mentors.

Great platform for your career

What do you like best about the product?
I really liked the projects and the feedback from project reviewers, they are real life projects and very useful for your career. I also liked the videos, which were short and straight to the point and that helped me to understand most concepts quickly and accurately.
Udacity offers a lot of different programs, but before you choose your Nanodegree I suggest to cover as mush is possibile with the free course before enrolling, that will help you during the Nanodegree.

"I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review."
What do you dislike about the product?
The courses are great, but I think the prices are a little bit higher compared with other platforms and they increased since my Front-End Nanodegree. Also I wish that were provided more practical exercises.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The course has given me a solid skills in web programming that will be useful in the future to learn more.

    Program Development

Concise teaching, real-world projects, engaging community

  • July 22, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My nanodegree program (Full Stack Web Developer) covered all the basics of the field and went on into advanced topics with guided help.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the time I was enrolled, the path to nanodegree completion wasn't easily understood. I did not expect to be taking a course on OAuth during the program, but, that small course added value to the program anyway and I did benefit from it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The program supported my advancement in my role at work. Within a few months, I was better able to handle backend security aspects of my company's digital infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I received a discount on my Nanodegree program for writing this review.

Best decision to learn really relevant skills

  • July 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I was interested in artificial intelligence for a long time. Unfortunately I had no real opportunity in my previous job to get in touch with techniques in this field. By chance I heard about Udacity through a colleague. I participated in the Deep Learning Nanodegree and was fascinated how Udacity communicates complicated content in an understandable way. For me it was the best decision to invest the time parallel to the job to learn really relevant skills.

(Full disclosure: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.)
What do you dislike about the product?
For me there wasn't really a thing that I disliked. Sometimes it was hard to find the time to learn in the evening but it was worth the effort.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I analize generated data of different devices. Udacity helped me to interprete unsorted data and gave me the right tools to implement learning algorithms.
