Good learning experience

  • July 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Udacity course provides very well designed lecture videos, and challenging homework. Well, not all topics are covered, but I would say it covers more than what I was expected.
The documents and quiz that prepared by tutors were in great quality, I have learned a lot from them.

NOTE: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
Whenever I need support (eg, payment, deadline, etc), sometimes it is just some very simple question, but pretty hard to get response, in fact, almost no response at all, with both Slack messages and emails.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have learned a lot of best practices on using Jupyter notebook, which is quite useful in my current job.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
React to questions quickly.

Great Projects, Good Content

What do you like best about the product?
“I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review."
The best part of Udacity is it's projects and coursework. Working through the projects you get a good idea of what skills and processes might be required in the workplace. The professional feedback on projects has also been top notch and super useful for ironing out rough edges on submissions. The focus on projects gave me a much better understanding of the tools I was using than when I was studying on my own.
What do you dislike about the product?
Udacity is a bit pricey and the accompanied student discussion forums can be somewhat hard to navigate with multiple terms for a course starting in waves. They also discontinued their mobile app which made reviewing some concepts during breaks from my computer tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have to actually put in the work to 'Pass' the courses. This plus the required revisions to projects gives me a much better understanding of the tools than if I was just experimenting on my own. After one Data Analysis nanodegree I was able to help my data science intern friends navigate a suite of analytics tools without needing much reference materials. (Jupyter, R, GGplot, etc)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for guided coursework, particularly in the data space, Udacity is great. But it isn't going to get you all the way there on it's own. I highly recommend trying to integrate what you learn into your work/school as you go along. The cross pollination of the real world and theory is where real benefits show.

Comprehensive exposure to new tools and skills with good supplementary material

  • July 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the quality of video and project preparations the most. The projects are challenging and have exposed me a lot of new tools, which is often the most helpful for me since I am already employed in the field and am always on the lookout for improvements to existing workflows.

NOTE: I received a discount on my next purchase of a Nanodegree program for writing this review.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that the setup for the projects could be more transparent to students, and that Udacity would further explain to us how they set up the projects for us, particularly when they are using things like project_helper.py files to abstract some of the implementation and testing away from us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been using Udacity primarily as a way to supplement my learnings at work. I have been employed in data and analytics roles, and each role, I have used Udacity as a way to further my skills.

Digital Marketing Nanodegree

What do you like best about the product?
Covered all topics of DM as a whole. Real projects that present what you have accomplished. Easy to follow instructions to complete required material. Very helpful mentor that you are able to schedule phone calls with to help though difficult tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much that I didn't like. Might have wished we dove a little bit deeper in google analytics and had a project creating reports from relevant information.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gave me a much better understanding of DM as a whole and provided me with information on what aspect I would like to dive deeper into.

What do you like best about the product?
Courses are well organized, perfect learning increments, challenging assignments. Learn by doing approach.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wanted to complete several nanodegrees before updating my linkedin page but at the time this wasn't allowed. I had to give up the right to use career services. Would have preferred this be a completely optional component even if it had a post completion time limit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learned to use Tableau, Alteryx for data analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Change to career center which seems to be underway.

Udacity Predictive Analytics for Business Review

  • July 01, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The course was structured in a way that it is easy to follow. Video -> Mini Quiz -> Solution Video -> Repeat -> Recap & project at the end of each section. This course relies heavily on the data analytics software Alteryx, which is fun to use. You get to complete 5 full length project during this Nanodegree. The mentor’s response time is quick and they provide succinct explanation to the problems you maybe facing. Also, the feedback received for projects is quite detailed (most of the time), even if you pass the project, they’ll provide detailed recommendations and analysis on each part of the project and how you can improve your overall project. You’ll learn a lot during this Nanodegree program, particularly if you come in with no knowledge in predictive/business/data analytics. This course also provides career service (linkedin, resume, github, cover letter review), which is a nice little bonus if you need to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The course content can be quite broad and limited, and you'll need to do alot of external readings related to the topics at the same time as you are going through the course to really make the most of your Nanodegree. I would suggest you play around with Alteryx or Tableau at the same time and create mini projects of your own outside of the course, as they don't really teach you anything with the tools other than what you need to use it for for the course. The price is quite steep if you are not sponsored.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning predictive modelling. I have never used the tool Alteryx before coming into the course, so that was a new learning experience for me.

Disclaimer: I received a future discount on Udacity for this review.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The price is steep, and you can get majority of the course for free on Udacity itself, if you want access to projects and mentorship and feel you can complete within a month, then this is worth checking out if you want to get into data/business analytics.

    Computer Software

Udacity Android Developer Nanodegree

  • July 01, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Getting reviews on your code the very same day you upload it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only bad thing I could say is the price. Not everyone can afford it but if you have the money to spare I would definitely enroll.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Udacity to stay up to date with new technologies and advance my career
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you take the time to give each project your best effort. They are tailor made for you to get the most of it.
