Great tool for linux (milti-vendor) patching
What do you like best about the product?
One console to patch them all, multi linux patching tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes you need to have separate instances of SUMA/MLM to patch old linux because they are not compatible (Suse 11.4, 12.5, 15.x, etc). Newer versions of SUMA/MLM are not compatible with old ones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One console/tool for patching any linux.

What do you like best about the product?
SUSE Manager is a great tool for administration of many Linux servers, not only from SUSE family. It's helpful in daily administration work. Possibility to manage repositories, patches, lifecycle management, deployment, and automatization of all is very nice option. Preparing as container provide easy installation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe it's not the easiest tool at beginning, but time spent on learning, returns very fast. It's a pity, that the tool extending is not possible by lack of add-on support. In some cases is not so easy to fully understand documentation and sometimes, vendor manuals have a bug. The container-based installation model made any customization harder to support.

What do you like best about the product?
SUSE Multi-Linux Manager makes it easy for us manage patching for hundreds of systems running more than a dozen flavors and versions of Linux. We can easily see the status of our systems, apply updates, and schedule reboots.
What do you dislike about the product?
Major version upgrades of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager are disruptive to those trying to install or update packages on managed systems. Unlike minor updates, these upgrades require a lot of planning and preparation, and deep understanding of the MLM product, or you'll have more disruption than necessary.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SUSE Multi-Linux Manager helps us ensure that our Linux systems are patched, to protect against known vulnerabilities, which helps us keep our customer's data, and our own data, more secure. We can quickly see which systems need attention the most, so we can focus on the most critical systems first.
Simplified centralized management for all Linux distributions
What do you like best about the product?
I use SUSE Manager to manage our fleet of Linux servers and workstations. It’s a very easy to install and a fast way to deploy updates and monitor the overall health of the systems, as well as to use it for inventory purposes.
One of its strengths is the native integration with Ansible and other tools that help ensure security compliance, such as OpenSCAP.

What do you dislike about the product?
Once it’s installed, it’s very easy to use, but the learning curve and the initial deployment on servers aren’t easy. However, this can be made simpler with the help of Ansible playbooks.

The learning curve is steep, especially for those not familiar with Linux software management. The platform focuses exclusively on Linux, which may limit its usefulness.

It solves the challenge of managing multiple Linux distributions, patching them securely and consistently, and easy auditing across the entire environment. This is critical for our operations where we handle a mix of Linux types and need guaranteed compliance and stability, enabling our IT team to operate more efficiently and with fewer surprises.

Its support and centralise manage all flavour of Linux which is used in organisation at multiple cloud providers.

SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is reliable, easy to use, and saves a lot of time with its automation features. The implementation was straightforward, making it easy to get started, and I use it frequently in day-to-day administration. Integration with other tools is smooth, and the support and documentation are very helpful. Highly recommended!

While SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is very reliable and easy to use, the initial setup can take some time to fully configure, and a few advanced features could benefit from more detailed examples or documentation. These are minor issues compared to the overall ease of implementation, frequent use, and smooth integration with other tools.

It automates routine tasks, ensures consistency across systems, and simplifies patching and updates. This saves a lot of time, reduces the risk of errors, and makes day-to-day system administration much more efficient and reliable.

SUSE Manager – SUMA is a powerful tool for patching, software management, and overall management, on a variety of Linux distributions. It gives a very good overview of the systems in terms of compliance, but also a granular level of software access on the individual systems. It is relatively easy to form an overview of high priority vulnerabilities.

The implementation was a bit comprehensive.
