Comprehensive, Scalable, and Backed by a Vibrant Community
What do you like best about the product?
As the cloud-native vector database platform, Zilliz has a large and active community, offers various solutions ranging from lightweight personal projects to million-concurrent production environments, and provides comprehensive open-source documentation where you can quickly look up details about development, deployment, and precautions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Due to the large community, there are many types and complex demands, which inevitably affect the development roadmap pace. Hope the team keeps up the good work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zilliz solves the semantic limitations of traditional recall methods like BM25 (inverted index) in vector retrieval. Its early open-source version helped me quickly build a small-scale content vector retrieval service, enabling more accurate semantic understanding. Later, its distributed solution facilitated our smooth transition to larger-scale, high-concurrency application scenarios, ensuring efficient performance even as data volume and user requests grew.

What do you like best about the product?
Fast speed and the ability to integrate model calls into index construction make it convenient for script writing and maintenance.
What do you dislike about the product?
The resources required for cluster deployment are quite numerous.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The maintenance of the vector database ensures that I receive stable and efficient enterprise-level services for both semantic and keyword searches.

This software is great! It's easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Two key limitations are the lack of support for sorting on scalar fields and the unavailability of highlighting in full-text searches.

Zilliz's vector database is a cornerstone of our AI-powered customer service, enabling the business to ground responses in a vast knowledge base. Its powerful hybrid search and efficient vector retrieval capabilities allow us to process customer inquiries with remarkable speed and accuracy, which is fundamental to the effectiveness of our Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
An Excellent Vector Database for Developers
What do you like best about the product?
1. Pay-as-you-go model: This is extremely important for individual developers like me — it greatly reduces financial pressure.
2. Affordable pricing: Even with the pay-as-you-go model, Zilliz offers a very competitive and reasonable price.
3. Easy data import: I can directly convert millions of vector records into large JSON files and upload them to the database easily — with zero additional cost during the upload process.
4. User-friendly experience: The official documentation is comprehensive, and the AI assistant efficiently helps solve any issues I encounter.
5. Excellent performance: Querying millions of vectors is lightning-fast — typically within 100 milliseconds.

What do you dislike about the product?
when uploading data, since the files are quite large, I need to manually upload multiple chunks. However, the upload management interface does not display the file names of each chunk on the main screen, which makes it difficult to tell which part of the data I’m currently importing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I didn’t have a suitable server to host a vector database myself, but Zilliz’s free credits and quick deployment capability helped me get my product online in no time.
Blazing Fast and User-Friendly, But Full-Text Search Needs Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
The product stands out by combining exceptional ease of use with remarkable speed and full compatibility of the Milvus interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
The full-text search function is still not fully developed

Automatic scalability and capacity adjustment
Active Community & Updates, but Lite/Standalone Versions Could Be Unified
What do you like best about the product?
Very active community support and continuous update with enhanced features,both infra-wise and algorithms wise

having lite, standalone, distributed version may be too much, would be great if lite and standalone merged and provide dynamic adaptation within version
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it wrapped the data engineering work alot internally, that using milvus is more like a declarative experience. It accelerates our RAG and Agent development by releasing our focus from storage and storage-interaction side, that we could focus more on the business logic on the agent optimization.
Powerful and Easy-to-Use Vector Database
What do you like best about the product?
It’s very easy to use and delivers powerful performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue is that the standalone deployment has a few too many dependencies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zilliz makes vector data management much easier. It’s simple to use, delivers strong performance, and reduces our workload when building AI search features. The only challenge is that standalone deployment has quite a few dependencies.
Easy to Use and Best Performance for Beginners
What do you like best about the product?
The advantage of zillizCloud lies in its ease of use. You can easily get started by signing up for an account on the page and using the available SDK, making it suitable for beginners. ZillizCloud also offers excellent performance; compared to other databases I have used, its performance is currently the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that might be less satisfying for me is the price, but they offer a suitable free quota. Not bad.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This provides crucial support for similar email functionality in our current business, solving our issues with RT (Real-Time Response), and enabling Zilliz to handle backup, maintenance, and related capacity scaling. This realizes serverless functionality.
Too overpriced for claude-context usage
What do you like best about the product?
They delivered great lib claude-context as promo product to use their db.
What do you dislike about the product?
But it monthly cost for small project more then to buy mini-pc and host vector database there. Much cheaper (like 100x) to host on hetzner if needed.

Hosting Vector DB for the claude-conext
I like Zilliz because of it is open-source
