Weight Lifted Off My Shoulders
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to upload a file, review a file, make corrections, submit a file and get everything mailed out seamlessly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compared to our old process it's really hard to dislike anything about Sovos!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have solved our information reporting procedures that used to be such a manual task!
Managed Services - highly recommend
What do you like best about the product?
Using Managed Services to create and submit our files has been well worth the investment. Prior to using this service, our Information Technology team was responsible for much of the file creation, and they dreaded it. Now, the field maps are updated correctly each new tax season, and Sovos helps us work through any data validation issues. Our files are always transmitted on time - we never miss a deadline.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the past, some of our processes were not well documented so there was some re-education of Sovos staff. However, in the past few years Sovos has greatly improved their documentation of our process, and this has made all the difference. Managed Services continued to update their documentation as we identify and solve issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reduced FTE costs for Information Technology department, accurate and useful validation reports, email notification reports for eStatements, eStatement access through our Online Banking vendor submitting web calls to Sovos. The process is now very streamlined, well documented, and efficient. We allow the experts to assist with updating the data maps and loading our data - much less hassle for us.
Intuitive System & Excellent Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
We currently use the product Taxport for a variety of year-end tasks. The system is easy to navigate and the instructions are all pretty straight forward. If I have any questions, I log into the client user portal and either submit a case or I call Sovos Support and they are very helpful!
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly have yet to find anything that I dislike. The product we use is very sufficient and the customer service through Sovos is very good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sovos Intelligent Compliance Cloud has just overall made our processes more efficient and have saved a lot of time with the knowledge documents that are available.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The customer portal is very intuitive and provides a wide variety of information. The customer service is excellent. I would highly recommend!
Constantly improving in visual appeal and ease of use
What do you like best about the product?
All inclusive, there is a significant amount of information available on the cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it a little hard to create a specific enough search to locate very nuanced processes. The search results aren't always logical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlined processes, decreased processing times of using software, allowed ease in creating cases. I've been able to find additional information about using the software that wouldn't have become apparent without the cloud access.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep working on improving the search, it's gotten better since I first used it, but still can be a bit of a drag
The system is easy to use and their compliance updates make it a worry free tool.
What do you like best about the product?
The system is easy to use and an indispensable tool in our year end reporting process. With this software we know our files are in compliance and we are able to satisfy our federal and state reporting requirements. Their support staff is readily available to answer questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The billing invoices are not as detailed as we would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it to meet our state and federal tax information reporting requirements. Sovos regular compliance updates ensure we are in compliance without having to spend hours doing tax research.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sovos offers several services that may be worth considering such as B-notice solicitations and e-statements.

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate all the content available as well as how responsive Matt is when asked questions. Although we don't use Sovos extensively, they are very reliable when we need their assistance.
What do you dislike about the product?
How fragmented it currently appears. However, this may be self-imposed as we have very limited services.

1099 processing, B notice solution.

What do you like best about the product?
The Sovos customer support team is always courteous and effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some lack of data integration due to separate databases. Not being able to capture snapshot of events that have occurred, as databases are always 'real time'. Inability to create one AFP file of 1099-MISC forms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Electronic IRS and state transmittal filings. Emailing of 1099 PDFs.

Very friendly and responsive sales person and customer services representative

My company agreed on the service at the last moment. It was stressful to meet the filing deadline.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Filing 1099 with IRS. The benefit is the filing is quick and smooth.
Sovos Customer Support was excellent
What do you like best about the product?
I worked with several members from the Sovos Customer Support Team and my inquiries/questions were logged within minutes of submission and someone always contacted in a very timely manner.
What do you dislike about the product?
During the most recent tax season i did not encounter any issues that I would say I "disliked"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to import our payment/financial/tax data from our financial system to a cloud-based system that produces the most up-to-date IRS forms. Sovos allows us to import our data, generate our tax forms and file produces the electronic file to submit to the IRS
An sluggish solution with so-so support compared to Avalara
What do you like best about the product?
The system has at least the following features that I can think of:
a. Updated rules, rates, exemptions about tax
b. Up-to_date Data for all jurisdictions
c. Custom Transaction-Level Reporting
d. Data Aggregation and able to sync with Salesforce and NetSuite

What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of anything that I dislike about this company or solution. We went through an ERP migration from GP to NetSuite, and we need to implement a tax solution within a short period. It was an amazing experience with the account management and support team.
However, two years later, we end up switching to Avalara. Avalara is more intuitive and easier to use.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The system eliminates the burden associated with tax filing and compliance work. Without a system like Sovos, I can not imagine how any company can keep up with the ever-changing tax landscape. In the US alone, there are thousands of jurisdictions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
After using Sovos for two years, we switched to Avalara as Avalara is easier to use and more robust in functionality. If you use Netsuite, this is a great combo.
