What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy teaching users on the features and benefits of IT in general and Cognos specifically.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't enjoy leadership where they are set in their ways.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am presenting business with reports and dashboard to gain insight into their business.

Cognos Analytics allows leadership to request, review and utilize enterpise data to define strategy. Scalability, ability to integrate multiple data sources in today's ever changing digital world, Cognos Analytics is an ally all organization can benefit from.

Implementation cycle were longer than we originally anticipated - not product issue,, just we underestimated size of undertaking

Ease of use. Versatile customizable interface.

Ease of use, BI developers seem to like using it
What do you dislike about the product?
The costs are prohibitive, we use it primarliy for one lending system at the moment

The syndicated loan group uses it for reporting on large commercial loans

What do you like best about the product?
Started using Cognos reporting solution when it was report studio, lots of improvements around visualizations. Dashboards are a huge improvement for our sales folks, and helps display data in a meaningful way.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new user interface for report authoring seems clunky and disjointed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we are able to do all reporting and meet all visualization needs anywhere from manufacturing to sales to finance.

Gouvernance, security and report distribution mecanism

Complicated for non eperienced end users. Lack features and easiness for self-service

Cognos allows our users to quickly and efficiently access curated and critical data in a self service method.

Challenges around training of users and building curriculum

Improved time for financial closings have been realized by various self service methods
Cognos Dashboards are a great product
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease and speed of being able to put a visualization together and can get in the hands of the consumer quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that commands can't be used across different packages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are putting HR data into the hands of decision makers faster and more accurately than ever before.
Cognos for a School District
What do you like best about the product?
Cognos has a strong "engine" that is able to manage our student and school data for a school District that is over 100 000 students. We have used Cognos as a reporting tool to support our focus on continuous improvement using data-drivenm decision-making.
What do you dislike about the product?
I bvelieve Cognos has the engine of a BMW. However, for report writers and users of the product, it needs to be more user-friendly and have more flexibility to support a more 21st century look and feel to it.

Supporting our end-users (school principals and central leaders) in accessing data to inform decisions specific to programming, school planning and interventions
