What do you like best about the product?
Great tool to access all the information from databases, files,... and get analytcis.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great to have better options for visualizations... modern ones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are getting dashboards in front of business users.

There is some limited functionality. There's no easy way to make it do what you can do in reports.

What do you like best about the product?
Cognos Analytics in Version 11 completetly changed against the old version 10. There are great enhancements in the user interface and the possibilities to build reports, dashboards, ...
What do you dislike about the product?
There are no good possibilities to migrate from an older version 10 data model package to a current Cognos Analytics data module.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Cognos Analytics to build reports against monitoring data. With this data the users are able to analyse which technologies produce most issues.

The embedded AI is a great new feature.

The natural language understanding feature is only available in English.

Our clients only need one tool to meet all their analytical needs. Now, with the improved features of Data Discovery, it is easier than ever to have self-service analytics.

Cognos Analytics Handles batch reporting exceptionally well . The new addition of RAVE Visualization is great

Cognos Analytics still should improve on self service. Business Users still find the product as IT driven.

Good product for in house analytics

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to build a custom model in Framework Manager to standardize the data model across teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of source control and versioning support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We replaced a third party reporting application that was owned by a competitor and wrote our own external facing reporting application to support our clients.

What do you like best about the product?
In 11.1 the ease of use with report design.
What do you dislike about the product?
It seems like more enhancements get rolled out before all bugs are fixed some times. Also, running Cognos on AIX was troublesome in early stages.

Making our data tell stories for our end users.

What do you like best about the product?
With the latest release of Cognos Analytics, Analysts, now more than ever, can uncover insights and correlations within data that would otherwise not be found. The addition of Watson Analytics capability has made it easier for users to better understand data visualizations and make faster decisions. In addition, the Watson Assist allows users to ask questions of their data and leveraging the software's internal AI, receive recommendations on data packages, objects, visualizations and more. I'm a huge fan of the latest version, 11.1.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need to incorporate an on prem mapping capability. I support the Federal space and many clients have a need for maps, but their environments make it difficult to use a web based mapping system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
So much easier for users, who may not be hard core analysts, obtain insight.
