Easy to use, powerful tool with some base knowledge
What do you like best about the product?
Visualization tools to create dashboards
What do you dislike about the product?
Some steps/actions are not intuitive like "going back" to close a report or visualization back to the next step, i end up closing out my session.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data discovery, single version of the truth, problem solving through reporting
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Build your data to be tool agnostic and have CA in your arsenal for reporting and data discovery

What do you like best about the product?
Apart from a few hiccups, everything looks good. I like the few features: dashboard, stories, data modules, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing. I like all new features and the we have everything we had in previous version

Executive reporting for high management within my company. Quick availability of critical reports to our management and executives
Very robust product for content develpment, but end users find it difficult to author content

Framework Manager for applying controls to the data sources to ensure users get correct data in their reporting and analyses.
What do you dislike about the product?
User adoption has been slow as users tend toward self-service tools like Tableau.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are providing the one source of the truth for our enterprise Hybrid Budget Model reporting. Long time finance personnel did not believe that a solution was possible for this highly complex budgeting, revenue and expense allocation.

What do you like best about the product?
Version 11 is intuitive which allows for a very quick training session to get users using the tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cryptic error messages, and the inability to find solutions from the error messages (think about how StackOverflow works)

This tool requires a perfectly modeled data mart. You will be most successful if you put time to the data mart early on, before using CA.

The ability to create reports and dashboards, schedule delivery and create alerts.

the new platform in version 11 is very different than version 10 making it difficult for the users to transition or move to 11.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customer visibility of their product location, access complete sales portfolio for a sales representative with 1 click, on time delivery of statement of accounts (even customized) to the customers and much more

watch the videos and even ask for a trial, they have it on cloud so you can see what you can do with Cognos

What do you like best about the product?
The product is really very advanced with loads of options, very intuitive and very customizable. The frontend portal is very well secured.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it becomes slow in issuing the large data. Except that it is perfect. I believe developers would fix this issue in upcoming update.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Well I was not able to focus on another task just because I have to take care of my data and its analysis which is now been done very often even without wasting my time to gather data and analyse it. Because now its been done just one click.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compare vendors thoroughly and make sure that which software meets your requirement.And I believe that this might fulfill your requirements because it has all features which a Cloud Architect requires and also it is cost effective for long term.
Cognos Facelift so Nice!
What do you like best about the product?
The look and feel is much more modern and in line with new portal designs. Very easy to get from one report to another especially with often used ones. Inbox much more integrated and dashboarding is coming along nicely.
What do you dislike about the product?
Steep learning curve for those that are very ingrained with the older versions. Also the phase out period for older versions is extremely fast with little notice. Very hard for large scale businesses to migrate to this as quickly as needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability for power users to easily answer their own questions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan ahead for your environment to be able to scale for future users. Get a business sponsor for analytical roll-out and a plan for training and support. Be slow when rolling out power user features as too many and it can be overwhelming to handling on a support side.

Trying to perform state of the art analytics for the bank
Its good but can use more innovation

Cognos was an excellent analytics suite but hasnt made a lot of enhancements to their product in recent times. but is a very strong solution for standard reporting and adhoc analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
They do not innovate it very often, I really believe that this software can get to be amazing with a little bit of help.

We are available to easily review data

Analytics definitely gets the job done by letting us know best practices for our sales roles. Have not had any issues with crashing and bugs like with other programs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like all programs you just have to use it to understand how it works.
