What do you like best about the product?
I like the convenience it gives the user, watching the clients do something as quickly as the tool does, specific for each one.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit complex to write the logic of the Cognos language.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have experience in projects and this greatly assists our clients; they are able to have more autonomy when the model is designed with the client's specific type of business in mind.

Creation of reports and interactive dashboards with great ease, thanks to the intuitive interface and control of access, auditing, and data governance.

Interface a little less modern and performance is a problem with large volumes of data.

Help ensure data consistency, traceability, and security, with access control, versioning, and audit trails.

I really appreciate how easy it is to create queries and the ability to use SQL within IBM Cognos Analytics.

I don't enjoy creating reports, especially when they are complex and time-consuming.

It helps me extract important data for use in other tools with which I am more familiar. To do this, in IBM Cognos, I create automated routines that send the results directly to an email, so they can be processed later.

It is full stack. I an create fully detailed reports and super fancy dashboards. And over the past five years the number of improvements are tremendous.

It is difficult to use for novices, especially the reporting module.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are testing IBM Cognos Analytics for inventory management forecasting and for prediction of opportunities lost (due to unavailability of raw materials/parts) for some of our manufacturing plants. Although we have a data science team, Cognos Analytics allowed me to create a quick proof of concept. I have connected our SQL databases, and I was able to identify atleast 3 divisons, where the current suply was less than predicted demand

IBM Cognos is a robust governed platform with significant security features and provides excellent graphics and reporting. One of our customers can get a full company update on a Monday morning from all of this data via Cognos Analytics.
