Best Managing Software for Fortinet Products
What do you like best about the product?
Ideal for managing Fortinet products from a single panel. It even allows you to make detailed settings. It is very easy to integrate with Fortinet products.
What do you dislike about the product?
you need to do some detail configs on the device
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows you to manage many fortigate firewalls with a single click by creating templates from a single interface. It removes device complexity. It especially makes sd-wan management easier.

Performance could have been better for Data Plane
The Command line is a little different and needs more time to get adapted to it and some features/control is available only in command line

What do you like best about the product?
Easy installation, this solution could be installed as a virtual machine. It could be helpful when managing many FortiGate on remote sites with the same configuration.
What do you dislike about the product?
The menus are not as simple to manage as it's for the fortigate and sometimes the push to managed firewalls fails

large scale deployment on remote firewalls

only use if you have more than 5 remote sites and prepare to manage configuration templates

Ability to configure the device even when managed via FortiManager allows to overwritten config. This could be avoided by bringing a local override feature if needed

Ability to manage same object group in multiple device policy set and can be pushed to all managed devices at the same time.

The Presales team was very knowledgeable, even on products that were not Fortinet which helped immensely on implementing the pilot with our current products and services.The team was also on hand for further advice during the implementation after it had been handed over to the vendor assisting with procurement

Bugs can sometimes occur in the interface, but not a big problem.

Sometimes the SSO functions fail to react in a timely manner

FortiManager
What do you like best about the product?
The most popular feature is centralized configuration monitoring for firewall policies while configuring a FortiGate device without Fortimanager takes hours. With remote deployment with Fortimanager, you can set up a FortiGate and configure it within 30 minutes on average.
What do you dislike about the product?
Fortimanager does not allow to do every feature configured through Fortigate GUIsixxx with the same ease. For example, when the current Line type (DSL, VDSL) changes, it may not get its values when you configure it via fortimanager.
For this, there were cases that we solved by configuring over fortigate.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can configure our FortiGate devices remotely, we can make bulk configurations. We can use the time more efficiently by making upgrades via Fortimanager without connecting to devices for software upgrades.

What do you like best about the product?
FortiManager consolidates all the Fortigate Firewall into a single pane of management, creating templates like policy, profile, firmware upgrade and VPN to be deployed to the particular firewall.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are certain times the like to access the firewall directly. Since you set the Fortigate to be centrally managed by the FortiManager, you cannot change and forced to edit something lead to loss of management link between Fortigate and FortiManager. It would be better if you could change from Fortigate and at the same time you can also synchronize with FortiManager without breaking the management protocol.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most of the cases are when our customers access the Fortigate and do the local configuration of the Fortigate without noticing or ignoring that it is centrally managed.
