  • August 07, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
schedule to run scripts & you know a bunch of tools for almost everything. mostly I run a headless browser for web scraping and automation &...
What do you dislike about the product?
I see there is a bug with MongoDB at the time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now I can run a headless browser to run my js scripts page which needs a browser to execute its js code and now via Deepnote, the whole process is automated.

Pleasant notebook experience that facilitates collaboration & integration to existing data stack

  • August 05, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Real-time collaboration between team members which speeds up analysis workflow
Integration to existing data stacks (Redshift, MySQL, Github)
SQL on Pandas DataFrame
What do you dislike about the product?
Cannot run Deepnote notebooks on local computer or other cloud notebook services due to proprietary features (integration to databases & SQL on Pandas DataFrame)
Future move to use their own proprietary version control rather than Github
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborative data analysis where team members can freely share their work and get feedback from other team members, as well as reuse code from other team members. This made the analysis workflow much faster.

Great product for sharing code and generally for teaching coding in python.

  • August 05, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy and convenient sharing and reviewing code od the students, the comments and changes in code are well integrated and if you need to share the notebook with students during lecture, it is also possible and works well. All of the libraries, I am using, were integrated and there was no problem with using them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sharing of the notepad works well, but it is not intuitive to set the rights for the other persons when you share it by link. Also, the copy of the notebook could be given the appendix with the name of the author to rename it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main use case for me are the homeworks of the students, the Deepnote allow me to correct them anywhere without the need for setup. Also during teaching, I can share the code with them and let them write the code together.

A product with a great potential but missing some key functions that competitors have

  • August 03, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Clean interface
- Ability to integrate with many tools
- workspace structure (organization of folders, files, etc)
- Nice way of organizing dependencies (requirements.txt file)
- A nice community
What do you dislike about the product?
- Very narrow screen that does not respond to bigger screens. You can only use 30% of the screen and nothing fits in it.
- Slow UX. Loading projects, starting cluster,s etc. is slow
- Very limited data visualization capabilities
- No understanding of dependency between cells
- No no-code way to slice and dice the data
- I think deepnote is suitable for education purposes but not the best product to use in a company. They have a lot of nice features to make text cells better for presentation but missing features to make life easier for actual users
- Organizing tiles in dashboard mode is not intuitive
- Support is not very responsive or helpful. Some of their suggestions were at a level of "have you tried turning on and off" as if their audience is not tech-savvy
- Notebooks crashed multiple times and in 1-2 of them I lost my code and it was not saved in history
- No database explorer
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- collaborative data science
- ability to combine sql and python seamlessly
- ability to share your work with anyone inside or outside of your org

Google Docs for Data Science -- Excellent for collaborating on data science projects

  • August 02, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The biggest upside of Deepnote is the ability to work with others in real-time. Personally, I use Deepnote for college Data Science courses, but I'd imagine Deepnote would be useful for professional Data Scientists, too.

The second biggest advantage of Deepnote is that there is less setup required than alternatives. Simply create an account, and you can open a new notebook from your browser.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside (compared to Jupyter Notebooks, for example) is that you have to wait a little for DeepNote to start up your hardware if you let it idle for a while before coming back to your code. This doesn't take too long, though.

Also, specifically with web-scraping, I've had some complex scripts take hours to run. I'm not sure if Jupyter would be any faster, though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deepnote saves students and companies time since less time is spent sharing and messaging back-and-forth about coding notebooks. Ultimately, code gets completed sooner.

Extremely comfortable notebook

  • August 02, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate to work using deepnote in browser without need to set up environment. Sharing capabilities are also good - for data related careers, DeepNote is perfect tool to share portfolio.
What do you dislike about the product?
Long time of code execution in a browser is a little disadvantage - if I run notebook for the first time it takes a while to get ready. But any further executions work better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For experienced individuals - in remote work era it's fantastic tool to cooperate. For people seeking their first data career - it's the best tool to share their portfolio. For me it's great place for side, self-development projects.

Using Deepnote for team teaching interdisciplinary data science at a university

  • August 02, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The collaboration and publishing features are absolutely the most innovative features Deepnote offers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing yet! I'm very happy with navigating and sharing workspaces and projects in Deepnote.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been teaching Python to university students of varying backgrounds for a long time. I always incorporate some form of teamwork or collaboration into my courses. I've been on the hunt for real-time collaboration in Jupyter notebooks for years and Deepnote is the first platform I've found that offers this feature that works AND can be easily implemented in a classroom setting.

Deepnote made creating a data science portfolio so easy.

  • August 02, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to publish all my notebooks in a single place.
What do you dislike about the product?
My current understanding is that you can only sync a single GitHub repository at a time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It encourages reproducible coding by providing a quick and easy way to share code.

Already a good product, still huge potential

  • August 02, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Most helpful Is the collarobation features. Deepnote is simply the only current company that provides seemless collaboration with multiple users. The experience is how it should be.
What do you dislike about the product?
A downside is the (sometimes) laggy interface, especially when dealing with large notebooks. Also switching between notebooks can be soow. I believe and trust in the team that they can improve this significantly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Main problem Deepnote is solving is collaborating on notebooks. Sending notebooks around is a truly terrible workflow yet still very common. Deepnote solves this problem.
