A Powerful Foundation for Innovation with a Steep Learning Curve
What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about SAP BTP is its ability to "keep the core clean," enabling companies to innovate without putting their essential systems at risk. Rather than altering the main ERP code which can make future upgrades challenging and hazardous BTP serves as a unified "sidecar" environment. Here, you can develop custom extensions, integrate various applications, and utilize analytics, all without interfering with the core system. This strategy provides businesses with the flexibility to create modern, cloud-native solutions and seamlessly connect their entire IT landscape, all while keeping their critical operational core standardized, secure, and easy to maintain.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main downsides of SAP BTP are its high complexity and unpredictable pricing structure. Users often struggle to forecast costs accurately due to convoluted credit models, while developers face a steep learning curve exacerbated by fragmented documentation. Additionally, the platform can feel over-engineered, requiring excessive administrative setup for simple tasks that would be straightforward on other platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SAP BTP addresses the issue of a fragmented IT landscape by serving as a central hub that connects both SAP and non-SAP systems. One of its main advantages is supporting a "clean core" approach, which lets us develop custom extensions independently, without altering the core ERP. This approach keeps our essential systems stable and ready for upgrades, while also providing the flexibility to innovate rapidly without accumulating technical debt.
Seamless SAP Integration and Reliable Performance
What do you like best about the product?
I like that BTP lets me build and integrate stuff without breaking the core system. Everything’s in one place, it plays nicely with SAP, and it actually works without turning into a mess.
What do you dislike about the product?
The part that drives me nuts is how bloated and slow-to-navigate it can feel. BTP has great pieces, but the menus, services, and config steps sometimes feel like they were designed by a committee that never spoke to each other.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It cuts out a lot of the chaos. Instead of juggling random tools, custom hacks, and broken integrations, BTP gives me one place to build stuff, connect systems, and keep data consistent.
Seamless Integration and Flexibility for Rapid Application Development
What do you like best about the product?
I like SAP BTP for its seamless integration, ready-to-use services, and flexibility. It helps build, scale, and extend applications quickly while keeping everything connected.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that SAP BTP can get expensive as services scale, and some setups feel complex for beginners. Navigating multiple services and configurations can be time-consuming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SAP BTP solves integration and extensibility challenges by connecting systems and offering ready services. It helps me build apps faster, automate processes, and deliver cleaner, scalable solutions.
Seamless Integration and Automation for Effortless Testing
What do you like best about the product?
Everything is seamlessly connected, providing me with immediate access to real, up to date business data for testing. It allows me to automate workflows and deploy test apps without the hassle of complicated integrations or setup. Additionally, its robust security and centralized management give me peace of mind about data governance, which is especially reassuring when working in enterprise environments. Overall, it speeds up my test cycles, improves their accuracy, and makes the entire process much less stressful.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the platform is impressively flexible and powerful, I find that some of the advanced configuration options and analytics setups can be somewhat overwhelming and time consuming, especially for testers who want to get started quickly. Navigating the more technical features often requires additional documentation or assistance from an SAP administrator. When working with complex test cases, setting up sandboxed or isolated environments isn’t always as straightforward as I would prefer. I would really appreciate having simpler controls and more accessible deep-dive features for users who aren’t developers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a software tester, I primarily use SAP Business Technology Platform to efficiently set up and manage test environments, automate business process testing, access and validate real business data, and connect various SAP services to execute integrated test scenarios. It is also my preferred solution for ensuring secure data handling and taking advantage of the built in tools for workflow automation and application development, all within a single, unified platform.
All-in-One Platform for Fast, Data-Driven Innovation
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how SAP BTP unifies integration, low-code development, data/analytics, and automation in one secure platform — enabling fast innovation and smarter, data-driven decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike most about SAP BTP is its steep learning curve — the platform is very powerful, but figuring out all its services and navigating its complex tools takes time and effort.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SAP BTP solves data-silo and slow innovation challenges by unifying integration, analytics, dev, and automation — enabling real-time insights, faster app delivery, and smarter, more agile decisions.
SAP BTP journey
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that BTP reduces the maintenance effort required, particularly when it comes to infrastructure. It also makes it possible to quickly provision services, which is a significant advantage.
What do you dislike about the product?
BTP operates with Capacity Units (CUs), and each service determines its own calculation method. This makes it confusing to track consumption across different services and to manage cost utilization effectively. Additionally, onboarding a new product demands a thorough investigation and a clear understanding of the architecture, as well as the specific functionalities that will be required.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the problems it addresses is connected to the SAP Clean Core approach, where developers are able to use BTP services to build interfaces instead of developing custom programs directly within the S/4HANA system.

What do you dislike about the product?
Certain areas in SAP Business Technology Platform are not very intuitive, and some services need more clarifications for configuration the entire process.

Great operation platform, held back by weird decisions and slow loads
What do you like best about the product?
On BTP I can develop and run my apps easily. Things work reliably and many problems are solved for me or I have best practices at hand.
Beeing Bld to run docker containers is also amazing.
Beeing Bld to run docker containers is also amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The BTP cockpit loads very slowly. My focus is broken if I open it and reloads take forever. The new destination view is completely broken for me, that it does not load at all. Also pricing is in transparent and not suitable for smaller organizations.
I also am sometimes confused by similar offerings, for example having 3 eventing solutions does not make it clear what to use unless you dig deep. And some stuff is not available as a trial.
In general you have to go through so many hoops to get some Services, that really drags things out and is annoying.
