Self-Hosting Empowerment with Room for Interface Improvement

  • September 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I found n8n to be excellent for automation, as it has become my top choice over others like Zapier and Make, mainly due to its self-hosting capability, allowing me to run thousands of automations efficiently each week. Setting it up was really straightforward, especially with a few tutorials to master the interface. The platform excels in building AI agents compared to others, as it makes the process incredibly intuitive and straightforward. I also appreciate its direct API connectivity, which was challenging with other platforms. These features make n8n incredibly valuable for connecting diverse systems and creating a fluid workflow. I’m a fan of the system and would willingly pay for it if the pricing plans were more accessible. Huge community and growing exponentially.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the payment plans for n8n to be quite strange and costly, particularly for startups, with prices reaching over $6,000+ a year as a first step. I believe this is a heavy payment burden. Another issue is the user interface and labeling, which could be improved to be more friendly and visually appealing, similar to platforms like GumLoop. Additionally, some features, such as global variables, are hidden or not easily accessible. Those cloud solutions is not for me, as I need private installation but also full-scale features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use n8n to connect different platforms and systems, especially those without native integrations, by directly connecting to APIs, which was difficult with Zapier and Make. This flexibility and self-hosting options allow me to run many automations cost-effectively.

Everything automated

What do you like best about the product?
I like how flexible n8n is—it lets me connect almost anything and automate workflows without much hassle, while still giving me the freedom to customize if I want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, its takes me time to build out stuff actually useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
n8n solves the hassle of repetitive manual tasks by letting users automate everything from data syncing to report generation, benefiting by saving time, reducing errors, and giving more control over complex workflows. For example, instead of manually entering leads into our Zoho CRM or keeping tabs on multiple services, n8n automatically connects different apps(Calendar, Slack and many more) so information flows smoothly and nothing falls through the cracks.

Hard to use, Limited features, AI Assistant is useless, Feedback hard to give

  • September 16, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
I ama beginner. Seems powerful. It does work well when it does. It has some helpful features.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not as easy to use as Make. It is harder to add content from other nodes. It is too reliant on JSON and other code when it is not necessary.
The Nodes have limited features. It does have a nice feature to give feedback at the node level To request features, which I recommend throughout the system.
The AI assistant is always useless, it seems to not even know what the current interface is like, so it's giving me all these instructions that don't line up with the interface with the titles and the boxes, which is my greatest difficulty, Even though I would think it would have access to the very nodes that I have on my screen and know what version I'm using, but it doesn't.
I came to this particular site to give feedback, and it was hard to get to. I had to go into my trash and find an old email from you that asks for feedback . There seems to be no way to access this site through the menus on this user interface. Then I met with rather discouraging words, that you have to have some sort of standard before what I say is published. I don't care about publishing it. Throw it in trash for all I care. I just want to give feedback let you know what I want what I'm doing and let the artificial intelligence that you have figure out what needs to be done with what I say. I don't want to have to go through all these old-fashioned feedback setups. n8n is about automation, so get your feedback more automated. The impression I get is that you don't even want feedback, which makes me not want to continue with this product because I feel like you're not going to succeed because you're not going to have the feedback, and Boy, do you need feedback!!!!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlining the production process across multiple social media sites.

A brighter future

What do you like best about the product?
n8n is a powerful tool that gives me the freedom to connect countless software platforms while running everything locally. The ability to self-host means I’m not tied to third-party restrictions, and the flexibility it provides feels almost limitless. At 52, I’m enthusiastic about learning and exploring this technology—it proves that innovation has no age limit. n8n truly delivers virtual freedom and endless possibilities for automation.
What do you dislike about the product?
While n8n is a strong automation tool, there are areas that could be improved. Some features available in the cloud version are not accessible when running locally, which can be frustrating for self-hosted users. Setting up Gmail connections through a tunnel can also be challenging, requiring extra effort. Additionally, error messages are often vague and could benefit from clearer descriptions to make troubleshooting more straightforward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use N8n to create an agent. helping me in my smarthome, my workshedule, appointments, etc

n8n is the Backbone of My Workflow

  • September 12, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
n8n has quietly become one of those tools I can’t imagine not having in my stack. It’s open-source, flexible, and doesn’t box me into the kind of limitations I’ve hit with Zapier or Make. The visual workflow builder makes it easy to map ideas into reality, and the huge library of nodes covers most of what I use daily. The biggest win for me is the sense of ownership—being able to extend, tweak, or even build my own nodes without waiting for a vendor to decide if my use case is worth supporting.

That said, n8n isn’t a frictionless “plug and play” experience. There’s definitely a learning curve, especially once you start building more complex logic or hit authentication quirks. The documentation is improving but can still feel patchy when you’re troubleshooting edge cases.

For the right person, though, this is a powerhouse. If you like tinkering, value flexibility, and want to own your automations instead of renting them, n8n is incredible. It really is the Linux of automation—open, powerful, and customizable. Not everyone will want to deal with the upkeep, but if you’re after long-term scalability and freedom, it’s hard to beat.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main struggle with n8n is the learning curve. While the drag-and-drop builder is intuitive at a glance, things get tricky once you dive into advanced logic or work with less common integrations. Sometimes you need to understand concepts like expressions, error handling, or node dependencies to really get the outcome you want, and that can feel overwhelming if you’re coming from simpler tools. Once you get over that hump, though, the flexibility pays off.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The real problem n8n solves for me is fragmentation. Before, I had different tools duct-taped together, each with its own limits and rising costs. n8n gives me a single hub where I can connect apps, data, and custom logic in one place. Instead of being boxed into whatever integrations another platform decides to support, I can actually design workflows around my needs. That means I spend less time fighting with workarounds and more time building systems that actually run the way I want. The benefit is freedom—freedom from vendor lock-in, freedom to experiment, and freedom to scale my automations without worrying about cost spirals.
