A fantastic product
What do you like best about the product?
The API to index data and the granularity on which we can allow users to search on.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of our clients want infinite scroll plus GeoSearch (click here for an example). The issue we have is that the map will render the result set differently depending on the position of the infinite scroll, ultimately not showing all the results available. For example: If I search and get 100 results and the hits per page is set to 50, the user will see the first 50 results on the map. Once the scroll position has loaded results 51-100, the map will only show results 51-100 and not show results 1-50. This confuses users.
Some users find it confusing when the filtered item automatically goes to the top of the list when it is refined/filtered.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solve complex search requirements for the complex commercial real estate industry. Users find the right properties using detailed search requirements.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For web search and a very well documented API there is no competition.
Algolia is awesome plateform for implementing the intelligent search
What do you like best about the product?
Algolia search is awesome. We use this on our customer support website and its awesome. It helped our customers in numerous ways. The search is very powerful and quick.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think there is any improvement we need in algolia search.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving our customer support issues with the help of algolia
Nothing short of perfect for startups
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of the service means you can basically throw any data at it and it'll handle everything for you.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel it gets expensive quite quickly (especially for smaller startups on a tight budget), but other than that the service is great
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a reliable and accurate search solution but none of us have experience building search platforms. algolia was an easy drop-in solution
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a go, they have a free plan you can use for testing so you have nothing to lose!
Very good experience. It's really fast in searching results. Really liked it
What do you like best about the product?
I like the speed of algolia search the most
What do you dislike about the product?
it's a little bit expensive. Re-indexing the records is also an expensive operation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I had issue with the search functionality at my website. Algolia is keeping good care of my website's search. Benefit of using algolia is that the users on my website can enjoy the fast search.
Great Search, tricky details
What do you like best about the product?
I love the fact that,at its premise, it's simply fast search over small JSON payloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting some of the finer details to work can be really tricky. The size limitations is a big sticking point, and breaking up larger objects into a single entity feels like something that should be managed within the SDK itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Algolia to build several geolocating websites, as well as a product support site for a database platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great product - make sure you pay close attention to the details of your implementation. The documentation could do a better job in some details but overall it's your friend, as is the support forums if you get stuck.
Better .than elastic search
What do you like best about the product?
Is very easy compared with competitors, and the library support for JS
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation is better now but it could be better
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many autocompletes inputs and Algolia helps us with that. I don't have to worry about search anymore
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Better documentation will help
Great product, great support.
What do you like best about the product?
Product perfectly designed and awesome support team - very reactive and so efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
Product is still quite technical to implement, but is very well made.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wanted a search engine for the documentation of my open source software. I was perfect to manage search on different version of the documentation.
Easy tool to build search engines
What do you like best about the product?
With Algolia, I could build an optimized search engine to look for real estates with many filters involved.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is steep... it was difficult to learn the internals of InstantSearch
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We provide an Algolia search engine to our clients, so they can look for the best home for them

Incredibly fast search with great enterprise options
What do you like best about the product?
Incredibly fast search; fantastic developer support and documentation; some really great out of the box options as well
What do you dislike about the product?
Non tech users may have trouble customizing themselves without dev help beyond basic settings if they use a plug and play app (of which there are many for Algolia -- they work great and are well documented, but someone wanting to do a lot of customizations themselves without technical know how may require a developer).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have universal search experiences for our clients that pull in from multiple platforms like Zendesk, Shopify, WordPress, and more and work on both web and native mobile apps. Algolia delivers results insanely fast and makes developing all of these elements out easy and reliable.
Best search system out there
What do you like best about the product?
It's hosted, flexible, and scales very well. It's what ElasticSearch should have been. You can throw pretty much whatever data you'd want to at it, and figure out the indexing later. Facets make searching very slick, and the fact that it's hosted means I simply don't need to worry about Indexing.

What do you dislike about the product?
It can get expensive, but still not as expensive as running OS software on AWS. The only *feature* issues we've had is that it doesn't let you perform cross-index searches. In our specific use-case, we have to duplicate data into multiple indexes because we want customer-specific data (restricted to specific customers of ours) along with our specified data in the same search.
It also requires a separate index for each sort order. That means no ad-hoc sorting (you can't specify to return results in a specific order at search time).

I've used this now for 3 separate production projects across 2 completely different companies. It gives us blazingly fast search and faceting across millions of records. We use this to generate statistics, as well as provide our customers with results based on their specific searches. We have an entire CRM platform build on top of Algolia.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan things out before you start indexing data, it can be expensive and time-consuming to make a lot of indexing changes after you have millions of records in a single Index. Also consider search patterns and usage examples, don't index data that's completely unnecessary. Keep your items as small as possible to keep searching fast.
Remember each index can only have one sort order.
Also remember that you don't want to include API keys in a front-end client directly, instead use the generateSecuredAPIKey function to create expiring tokens from a backend.
