Algolia is a highly scalable search solution that integrates seamlessly with other composable technologies. It allows for effective collaboration between product, marketing, and engineering teams, streamlining the process of managing search ranking strategies. I’ve found their OOTB tools for A/B testing, search ranking management, and front-end components to be incredibly valuable in reducing development time while improving search performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Understanding Algolia’s pricing and how costs scale can be a challenge at times. The cost structure isn’t always immediately clear, which makes it harder to forecast as projects grow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia excels at connecting users to content and products quickly through fast search functionality and personalized recommendations. This capability drives user engagement and, ultimately, growth for businesses.
Best Search Optimization Tool
What do you like best about the product?
1. Managing user search data easily and optimizing it to provide accurate results.
2. Recommend users with the exact similar products they are searching for.
3. User search analytics that gives in depth information about the products viewed and clicked for a specific time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as such but the implementation docs and examples need to be updated and should be easily understandable. Also pricing should be lower for first year of use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia provides ability to query search results in few secs as compared to earlier elastic search. The algolia dashboard makes it efficient to manage how the search results are displayed and ordered with respect to specific query rules. Also it gives detailed analytics about the users search query and provides accurate output.

The ease at which i can integrate Algolia with my services and the many ways i can use it in my daily workflow
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the process of browsing and transforming records programatically could use some better documentation. At least when i started out it felt at times like i was missing some examples of e.g loading all records into a program an iterating on them. After a while it made more sense at has gotten easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has made the process of integrating our frontend and backend more seamless as well as serving for an excellent look up tool on product data.
Easy to use and not hard to implement
What is our primary use case?
I use the solution in my company since we wanted a solution to be delivered for search purposes, and we got the tool named Algolia.
In my company, we didn't use the tool's intelligence because it was not in the business plan, but the solution is amazing and one of the best solutions.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features of the solution are the indexing servers and search servers, which are really fast. I don't remember the size of our database, but it was really big, and its ability to make decisions in a few minutes compared to Elasticsearch to deal with the indexing is good. The business layer is really incredible because business people should keep the organization off from the results of the search. Algolia is a good business solution. The intelligence of Algolia and how it works to deliver the information is good. We faced problems at the beginning of the project with the tool, especially with the user of the tool who was making the request because of the intermediate server. We take a long time to integrate, and we lose the tool's intelligence for personalizing the experience the solution can offer to its users. We should use a lot of Algolia's services, especially in terms of price and cost. Some of the servers had limitations.

The high cost of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Algolia for a year. I am a customer.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is a stable solution. The only problem my company faced with the product was because they didn't pay for the licensing.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution. While the scales are up, it costs too, especially because our data was increasing too much, and we had to do an evaluation of all our data to figure out what mattered to the users. It requires good planning of data usage. On the website, we had an active product, which doesn't matter in the search. When working with Elasticsearch, there were no problems, but when we went to Algolia, there were some problems.
Salability-wise, I rate the tool a ten out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
The solution's technical support at L1 was fast, but at L2, it was not so fast. I rate the technical support a nine out of ten.
How was the initial setup?
The tool is not hard to implement, but I believe the choice of implementation was not so good.
What was our ROI?
The product is not worth the money until you get to use all of its functionalities and have a good business plan in place.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
In terms of the cost of Algolia, the tool is really expensive for us in Brazil since it comes to about half a million dollars.
What other advice do I have?
There are two ways to work with the tool. You can use it directly from the front end to the operating endpoints or use an internet gateway server. We worked with the intermediate server, helping prevent problems with credentials. Also, doing work becomes better with the tool, but other tools do it better than this, so it is not the best choice.
Speaking about the challenges faced when integrating the product with other tools, I would say that the documentation of the solution is really good, and they have a good service and a good help desk. When we have specific problems, the communication or help from Algolia is a little bit low. There is no information on the internet about the problems my company has with Algolia or Elasticsearch. I don't remember a specific problem. The integration of the middle servers was the most difficult for us because there are certain ways to deal with IT, such as through user education or from the front end. Some solutions from Algolia are directly for usage and not for using the intermediate server. It was a little bit hard to explore the tools' services.
The tool is easy to use, but you need to know how it works.
For people working at a technical level or business layer, the tool can be easy, but to use the tool, you will have to understand how searches work.
I would recommend the tool to others but not to small companies.
I rate the tool a ten out of ten.
Very easy & robust searching solution

As a user of Algolia for our company's e-commerce website, there are several aspects I really appreciate. First and foremost, the quick and accurate search results significantly enhance the user experience for our customers. The speed at which search queries are processed and the precision of the results make it an invaluable tool for our business.
Additionally, the search endpoint provided by Algolia is straightforward and easy to implement. This simplicity has made it much easier for our development team to integrate and maintain the search functionality on our site without any major hurdles.
Furthermore, the reliability of Algolia has been outstanding. Since we started using it, we haven't experienced any significant issues or downtime, which is crucial for the consistent operation of our e-commerce platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
While my overall experience with Algolia has been very positive, I am anticipating one upcoming feature. Currently, syncing our products between our MySQL database and Algolia via the API can be quite time-consuming and complex. Algolia's "MySQL connector" feature, which is still in beta, looks promissing to simplify this process significantly. While it's not yet officially supported, I'm looking forward to its official release. The anticipation for this feature to become official is my only minor concern.

Algolia has been simplifying our search functionality. Instead of building a search algorithm from scratch, which can be quite complex, we use Algolia. It handles the job very well.
Easy to implement, maintain and integrate
What do you like best about the product?
The User Interface is very simple and intuitive, which makes the integration process very smooth. The concepts being used are also easy to understand, very quicly you can push data and start to play and implement integration with any kind of front end or backend technologies.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think one area of improvement could be the Search API Logs, the User interface for this screen is not really easy to use or to find things, maybe better search capabilities could be very helpful to debug issues and find things faster.

A fairly simple and lightweight integration with powerful AI features that we found easy to build into our customer e-commerce site

Configurations - there's a lot of features and have to learn how to get the best use out of all of them.

What do you like best about the product?
Algolia provides a simple yet comprehensive solution to content and product search. The adoption is fairly easy, and there are multiple ways to integrate a client's corporate or ecommerce website with Algolia. We have used Algolia on multiple client projects, each with slightly different use case, but found algolia's solution to be flexible and easy to implement in each case.

There is little to dislike about Algolia's solution - they tick all the boxes for use cases that we deal with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia offers a hosted SaaS search solution for both content and product search. These are the two primary use cases we encounter as an agency. It excels in both use cases.
On the content search side - it offers easy integration with website built using any CMS system. On the product search - it offers a UI toolkit for displaying Text Search, Facets, Filters, Sorting and Pagination capabilties. This toolkit is open source so our developers can extend it and make modifications as necessary. On the merchandising side, it offers business users with an ability to change the ranking of certain products manually, based on business situations like slow moving inventory, discontinuation of certain products, or driving higher sales through better positioning of best-seller products.
