Incredibly fast search with great enterprise options
What do you like best about the product?
Incredibly fast search; fantastic developer support and documentation; some really great out of the box options as well
What do you dislike about the product?
Non tech users may have trouble customizing themselves without dev help beyond basic settings if they use a plug and play app (of which there are many for Algolia -- they work great and are well documented, but someone wanting to do a lot of customizations themselves without technical know how may require a developer).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have universal search experiences for our clients that pull in from multiple platforms like Zendesk, Shopify, WordPress, and more and work on both web and native mobile apps. Algolia delivers results insanely fast and makes developing all of these elements out easy and reliable.

API's are flexible and easy to implement. Service is excellent!

It'd be nice to be able to setup multiple personalization strategies.

Decreasing no result searches and helping customers find products more easily.
Open source prject using Algolia, its decent but limited
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you guys support open source projects for free, very cool. was extrememly easy to integrate to docusaurus build, hence why we started using it. it works pretty good

I dislike that i can only see the top couple of results. We have hundreds of documents and references. Users sometimes need to search google to get what they need out of our website.

What do you like best about the product?
It's hosted, flexible, and scales very well. It's what ElasticSearch should have been. You can throw pretty much whatever data you'd want to at it, and figure out the indexing later. Facets make searching very slick, and the fact that it's hosted means I simply don't need to worry about Indexing.

What do you dislike about the product?
It can get expensive, but still not as expensive as running OS software on AWS. The only *feature* issues we've had is that it doesn't let you perform cross-index searches. In our specific use-case, we have to duplicate data into multiple indexes because we want customer-specific data (restricted to specific customers of ours) along with our specified data in the same search.
It also requires a separate index for each sort order. That means no ad-hoc sorting (you can't specify to return results in a specific order at search time).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used this now for 3 separate production projects across 2 completely different companies. It gives us blazingly fast search and faceting across millions of records. We use this to generate statistics, as well as provide our customers with results based on their specific searches. We have an entire CRM platform build on top of Algolia.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan things out before you start indexing data, it can be expensive and time-consuming to make a lot of indexing changes after you have millions of records in a single Index. Also consider search patterns and usage examples, don't index data that's completely unnecessary. Keep your items as small as possible to keep searching fast.
Remember each index can only have one sort order.
Also remember that you don't want to include API keys in a front-end client directly, instead use the generateSecuredAPIKey function to create expiring tokens from a backend.

What do you like best about the product?
Granular search results and filtering and the ability to search within a polygon is great for real estate.
What do you dislike about the product?
The most difficult part of getting my algolia workflow setup was creating batch writes for daily updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for real estate searches, where there are many data points to filter. I can take user input and get fast results/

What do you like best about the product?
The major advantage is that the way the services are organised. It lets anyone without a dab hand coding skills to start working with Algolia. Also the support services are quite awesome.
What do you dislike about the product?
I guess if you start to engage people on a much efficient manner, customer satisfaction will be quite huge.

Algolia has helped me a lot in terms of Indexing data as well as I love the NLP tools quite a lot. Huge fan always !
Algolia is fast and it works!
What do you like best about the product?
Search results are incredibly fast. Setup was fairly straight forward and didn't take very long. The re-indexing speed is also very good. Pricing is fair, overall its a pretty damn impressive service and I'm looking forward to implementing it on other projects in the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with anything new there's terminology which can be a little bit confusing at first. The documentation took a few reads until the information and processes stuck with me. Other than that there's nothing to complain about.

Algolia is the end-all be-all for search

Algolia gives me a far better search product than one I could engineer myself, and I had it up and running in a day.

The terminology they use in the dashboard can be confusing at first. Luckily, I spend very little time in the dashboard, so it isn't a major issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Algolia for product and user searches on our app and website, as well as for several internal tools. It's great for pretty much any search use-case that I've encountered so far.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're considering building your own custom in-house search solution, don't even bother unless you're enterprise scale. Even then, you should weigh the pros and cons of having an internal team build and maintain a project. Algolia is so easy, I will be hard-pressed to ever walk away from it, even if it starts costing a lot of money.
Needed a search fro static Jekyll site
What do you like best about the product?
Algolia is easy to set up and customize for your individual needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I was a little disappointed that they are no longer supporting the Jekyll plugin.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was able to build a search that displays results from our marketing site, blog, and documentation site.

Bring back the Jekyll plugin!
There are endless possibilities of integrations, there are no limits with Algolia for integration.
What do you like best about the product?
Java, JavaScript, Ktlin and Zendesk are just some of the solutions with which I have an excellent integration with Algolia, there are many more integration options that I am currently working with and I can continue adding many more integrations without problems, I just need to send a message to the support of Algolia and they kindly provide me with the tools to integrate them. By requesting support help I can complete the most complex tasks in just a few minutes or depending on the complexity of the integration in a few hours.

They must add many more customization features and they must modernize their platform, sometimes I dislike their outdated look.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The positive since we started using Algolia in the company are summarized in two things, the search patterns and the customer experience. It is very simple when the client is satisfied, all the members of my team are also satisfied, Algolia allows us to improve and automate our search engine in a few days.

The configurations of integrations can be a bit complex if you do not have the necessary experience, for this reason I recommend you to configure the integrations with the help of Algolia support so that you can achieve the work in a relatively short time, I have to repeat it, not make your own, ask for help. Algolia allows you to improve and having algolia is what I love most.
