Particularly convincing is the intuitive interface and the efficient traceability function, which greatly simplifies linking and tracking requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
The admin functions are not very intuitive and often require some time to get used to.

What do you like best about the product?
Jama is easy to access from anywhere, it does not need any additional software to be installed.
has very powerful features for documentation and traceability, great visualization and tons of existing template types to suit the specific project needs.
multiple users can work simultaneously; this is great for large organizations.
What do you dislike about the product?
exporting to word using a specific template a bit of a hassle, need some expertise in velocity to do this.
otherwise, the word template is the best bet. however, some additional documentation should fix this issue, I think.
for test runs feature, it might be a good option to enable relationships to test cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
end to end traceability with great analysis tool along with rest api interface for test automation, this is a game changer for automation.

Great for review

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature in JAMA is the requirement review.
Modern and easy to user UI
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing Behavior Is Problematic
The most critical issue with JAMA is how it handles floating licenses. When a Creator license is unavailable, the user is automatically downgraded to a Reviewer role. Unfortunately, a Reviewer can only access requirements that are actively included in a review—meaning they are effectively locked out of the full set of requirements. This restriction is highly problematic, especially when we're attempting to align our workflow and documentation practices around JAMA. We expected that a Creator without an available license would be downgraded to a read-only role, rather than losing access to essential content.

Difficulties Managing Multiple Products
JAMA works reasonably well when focusing on a single product. However, managing multiple products simultaneously becomes overly complex. The system does not provide an intuitive or visual way to differentiate or compare between products. For example, there is no visual overview of differences or changes across product versions, making it hard to track progress or ensure consistency.

Limited Visibility into Requirement/Test Status
Another major pain point is the difficulty in retrieving the status of only a subset of requirements or tests. JAMA lacks flexible filtering or dashboard views that would make it easier to focus on a specific area or segment of the project. This limits our ability to efficiently monitor progress or identify issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ensuring that our company covers all requirements with test before releasing.
JAMA also needs to support us in ensuring that we tests on different levels and not only tests on system level.
Finally JAMA has to helps us provide products requirements.

Evolving Requirements Management into a Structured Tool that Facilitates Daily Operations

  • July 31, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
jama is a versatile tool designed to support the creation, maintenance, and review of requirements in day-to-day operations. It streamlines the process of connecting requirements and enables effective traceability. Additionally, jama can be customised by adding specific attributes to meet your unique needs.
The tool is user-friendly and straightforward to operate. Most individuals quickly gain confidence in its use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The traceability dashboard could be enhanced by incorporating clear coverage metrics, both in percentages and absolute numbers, based on the defined relationships between item types. Established tools such as ReqTracer and Reqtify offer visual dashboards that display the status of traceability. Implementing a similar solution would be beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jama enables management of multiple projects and connects them to extend traceability between projects. Requirements can be inherited, making it easier to manage product variants. Additionally, all projects in Jama can follow the same process, supporting collaboration across teams and projects.

Even perfect have issues

What do you like best about the product?
Jama Connect offers a user friendly and intuitive interface, making it comfortable to use even for new usersv( cheers to the front-end team for delivering a clean and user friendly experience).

One of the features I appreciate most is the "Review" option , which streamlines the review and approval process. It significantly reduces the need for frequent meetings by enabling asynchronous collaboration, which in turn improves overall efficiency and keeps the project momentum going.

In addition, the customer support is excellent. Response times are quick, and communication is clear and efficient, which makes resolving any issues straightforward and less time consuming. The overall communication flow with the support team contributes positively to the user experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Incorporating automation and AI assistance would greatly enhance the user experience and reduce manual effort.

Additionally, I have encountered issues with data import functionality (In this case from Jira to Jama with JCI). In some cases, imported items were present in the system but did not appear in the filters as expected. These kinds of inconsistencies can impact trust in the tool's reliability, especially when working with critical project data. Ensuring robust and transparent data handling is the key.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jama Connect provides a comprehensive, end-to-end view of all components and projects, which is especially valuable in a large organization like ours. It enables us to clearly track the flow of requirements from stakeholder input through to verification and validation, ensuring traceability and alignment throughout the development lifecycle. This level of visibility is essential for maintaining direction, improving collaboration across teams, and ultimately helping us deliver solutions that meet defined requirements efficiently and accurately.

What do you like best about the product?
Jama Connect provides a powerful and user-friendly platform to manage complex requirements across teams. The traceability and real-time collaboration features help us align stakeholders and ensure compliance with industry standards like ISO 13485 and ISO 26262. The document version control and review workflows are very helpful for audit preparation.
What do you dislike about the product?
A more intuitive dashboard would improve the user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a consulting company, we also see the benefit of using Jama Connect to standardize requirement workflows for our clients and improve overall project traceability.

What do you like best about the product?
Once you get to know Jama, the configuration work is relatively easy and there are multiple good solutions to do things. The traceability is important for us and that seem to work really well in Jama. All the time we have had very good support from Jama consultants and the implementation has been smooth with them.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are at the phase where we are creating export documents and that seems to be a bit complicated area.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We get good traceability between requirements, risks and tests. Also we get rid of many excel sheets or some tools, and also can uniform ways of work in our company.

I’m from Agile Robots SE, and we use Jama as our primary management tool.

What do you like best about the product?
Jama Connect offers a wide range of powerful features that make requirements management much easier and more efficient. We have migrated all our projects from different tools to Jama, and we are very satisfied with both the tool itself and the excellent communication and support from the Jama team—especially Mr. Preston Mitchell, who has played a key role in helping us migrate projects by importing ReqIF and even Excel files seamlessly.

What we appreciate most is the freedom to customize our own workflows and reflect them in statuses that we can easily update. The locking feature and detailed activity tracking for each item are extremely helpful. The review feature is also very robust, making collaboration and feedback much more efficient. Additionally, exporting and importing data is straightforward and highly customizable. One of the most valuable features for us is the filtering functionality, which makes navigating and managing requirements effortless.

On top of that, the tool is fast, fluid, and intuitive to use, making it an overall great experience for requirements management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like any management tool, Jama Connect has some downsides, but honestly, I’ve noticed very few—maybe two or three areas that could be improved:

Relationships/Links Between Items
Currently, the relationships between items are limited to only two cases: upstream and downstream. It would be helpful to have additional relationship types or naming options for items on the same level (for example, linking test cases to other test cases without forcing one to be upstream or downstream).

Review Process – Status Update After Closing
In the review process, once reviewers approve or reject items, the moderator has to close the review. Unfortunately, after closing, the status of all items defaults to “approved,” regardless of whether they were actually approved or declined. It would be much better if, after the moderator closes the review, the item statuses could automatically update based on the majority decision or the final outcome from the reviewers’ feedback.

Review Process – Handling of Approved Items in New Revisions
When a new revision is published, the previously approved items are still shown in the review, and reviewers must go through and approve them again, which can be a bit annoying. It would be great if already approved/accepted items were either hidden in subsequent revisions or kept with their approved status so reviewers don’t have to reapprove them unnecessarily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jama Connect has really helped us streamline our requirements management process in many ways. One of the biggest benefits for us is that, after migrating all our projects, we now have everything centralized in one place. This makes it much easier to manage and navigate our entire project database and specifications.

It also provides great flexibility and fluidity in handling different sets of requirements—whether software, hardware, architecture, test cases, FMEA, or other types of specifications. Jama Connect supports the entire V-model cycle, from requirements to test cases on the right side of the V-cycle, making it a truly comprehensive solution for managing all aspects of our projects.

As I already mentioned in the first review, the built-in review features are a huge advantage. You can manage reviews, approvals, and even test runs directly within the platform, which makes collaboration and project tracking much easier and more efficient.

I love using Jama

  • July 24, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is great. You can very easily find requirements and the traceability feature is very powerful and easy to understand.

Jama is highly customizable. I love how you can create unique item types and within each item type you can specify which fields you want to include.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jama Reviews are a little clunky and buggy, and lack a lot of features I would like to see.

There is certainly a learning curve to Jama and it took some time to come up to speed.

I think the search feature leaves a lot to be desired. For example, text within a comment on an item does not show up in search results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are designing a highly complex electromechanical system. Many teams and stakeholders are involved. Jama acts as the single source of truth for all of our requirements. In addition, it facilitates a clear approval process for those requirements.
