Microstrategy: Too much that provides too little.

  • February 06, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Microstrategy does few things extremely well but the things it does get right really resonate with its user-base. I'm a fan of the "curated" experience you can provide through Microstrategy, specifically: the wide range of integrations with other products, the ability to curate an "experience" for an end-user, and finally the newly added transparency into the product through APIs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Microstrategy is a product that attempts to cast a very wide net in terms of its customers. The unfortunate side-effect of this is the large degree of sprawl that happens within a product. Have you ever heard the phrase: "Jack of all trades but master of none."? This is such a fitting description for Microstrategy that I have trouble putting it into other words. The enterprise offering for Microstrategy is clunky, visually outdated, hard to administer, full of bloat (read:over-configuration), and presents itself as an absolute relic in terms of SLDC.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Microstrategy provides a curated data "experience" for our end users.
