Great site to get into coding

  • June 01, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal offers a large selection of programming languages in their online editor, which is great.
The programming challenges on the site come in different levels of difficulty, and you can even use "credits" (that you earn by completing challenges online) to check solutions if you get stuck.
Each programming challenge also has a comment section where you can consult with the community - which is very helpful in my experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
The site doesn't have any support for mobile layout \ a mobile app (yet?)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using the site to get back into the habit of solving programming challenges and getting into the problem-solving "mindset" that is needed in programming job interviews.

Refreshing and full of practical questions without any language barrier.

  • June 01, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. The kind of questions present on Code Signal is so much relevant with respect to improving the programming experience.
2. With each question comes an opportunity to learn a new concept or practice the old ones.
3. No barrier of a language to code in. Although, I prefer Python3, yet sometimes, it feels good to code in Java or C on CodeSignal.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe there is hardly much to dislike about CodeSignal.
Although, in my, opinion there might be one thing which could be improved or introduced to the platform.
If we could have a measure in place to check our code performance, that is how much our code took time and space (memory), then we can modify or optimize our code.
Furthermore, if we can see other's code performance too, then maybe, we can learn from them, improve and try to write much better and optimized code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been solving all the problems starting from scratch, whatever CodeSignal program offers to freshers.
From the beginning, the questions are in increasing level of difficulty. Apart from merely solving them by brute-force, new problems present an opportunity to code differently. In essence, the key concept gets thoroughly revised through multiple problem instances.
The other benefit I have realized is that I get to see other user's concise code and thus improve my own code. I have not been practising core data structures since quite some time and CodeSignal proves to be a savior for me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely give it a try. It is certainly helpful to boost core data structures and programming concept. I would highly recommend it to all those who like coding.

A fun way to learn new languages and algorithms

  • May 31, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the diversity of problems available and the many formats. The arcade is fun to do in your free time and I am currently enjoying getting better at SQL with it. I also enjoy the coding challenges and seeing the many crazy solutions that are thought up as well as thinking of my own. Finally, they have an excellent interview preparation section that I will definitely be taking advantage of for any future interviews I have.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is the omission of time as a heuristic in the coding challenges. I like the character count to, but I would also enjoy seeing meaningful solutions that are fast. I would also like it if coins could be used for something other than unlocking solutions. I feel as if it would provide even more incentive for others to use your site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Right now, I am just using it for fun and to keep my Python and C++ sharp. I plan to use it in the future to learn more programming languages as I evolve as a Software Engineer and I realize that it is the perfect site for this through my current learning of SQL through them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I suggest you use this if you want to learn a new programming language.

What do you like best about the product?
Lots of exercises and different ways to improve your skills across a very broad range of programming languages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the problems are worded in a confusing manner and the timeout requirement does not seem baselined differently for different languages
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improving my programming skills and finding a way to demonstrate programming skills to potential employment

Great platform for learning and practice!

  • May 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Codesignal has been a great resource for learning, you have a lot of programming languages at your disposal to improve your skills. There are a lot of fun problems to solve, from easy to hard. Some problems do not accept the straight forward solution so you need to approach them differently and in that learning curve you will acquire knowledge about time and space complexity.
The UI is intuitive and the build-in Editor for solving programming tasks has great features such as code completion, coloring themes and editor modes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I´ve been a user for several years, and one of the things a like the most is the Challenge section, but i think this section has been a little bit forgotten by the company, there used to be theme challenges, these were problems related with certain programming topics and they were really great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Practice makes perfect. I use CodeSignal as a practice platform which has improved my algorithmic skills.
I have discovered new programming concepts and this has given me a broader image of how to tackle certain problems.

A nice place to test and develop your programming skills

  • May 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal is a really nice platform that allows you to asses your coding skills. It has multiple difficulty levels and modes ready to explore. Within every task to solve there is a ranking that allows you to compare yourself with others. Whenever you finish a task you can check solutions that others have created, thus learn new things.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is only one thing, which is the difficulty level of daily challenges. Some of them are super easy, that you can solve with your eyes closed and then there are some that have unclear descriptions or that not obey their own rules. In these circumstances, the comments section is very helpful though :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work as a software developer, so I code every day. Even though I like to go to CodeSignal to check the latest challenges and compete with my coworkers. This is an opportunity to test and develop my skills.

Great site for improving your coding skills

What do you like best about the product?
Although it depends on which members are actively writing them, there have been excellent problems to solve in the challenges section.
What do you dislike about the product?
The challenge solutions are ranked be character count. This has forced me to learn some new features of the languages I code in, but I think that time complexity would be a better measure for the quality of solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have taught myself new languages that were required for various projects. I have also learned new ways to solve problems by comparing my solutions to other members'.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with the arcade and make sure to look at other people's solutions after you complete a problem

The best developer site

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to compete with other developers and learn from them, in other places where there are competitions, it's too tedious, but in CS it's too simple and fun, I also like the interface, it's very nice for the user.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe the difficulty of classifying the problems, there are some with a medium difficulty that are very simple, and on the contrary there are problems with simple difficulty that require a higher level, even though it is not a big problem
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently I enter tournaments and help me analyze the problems with greater speed and precision

A nice break from the bigger problems

  • May 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Switching between different programming languages in order to accomplish a task (altough Python3 seems to be my favorite)
- Small challenges that keep you occupied for a few minutes to half an hour so that I can just get a little break when I'm actually working on something else
- Daily challenges. It's so nice to see solutions of other participants and learn from their approaches. I even got some upvotes, which boost my ego ;)
What do you dislike about the product?
The editor. Code completition has been a nightmare, so I turned it of. Sometimes it tried to complete something I just didn't want.

Apart from that there's not really much to complain about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm basically trying to solve all the problems that the platform provides. The tasks that need efficient solutions are the most challenging ones for me, as I sometimes don't pass the hidden tests due to an unefficient approach. So I'm forced to be more efficient; a huge benefit for me.

A Place to hone your 'Problem Solving Skills'

  • May 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most (up until now) about code signal challenges is that it improves my ability to take a given problem description and write an original program to solve it. It's a great source to practice solving programming problems. It's challenging and fun!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing in particular. The overall experience is quite good!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently I am practicing my coding skills while unlocking the arcade map. Doing so I learned to organize my thoughts to discover solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a beginner make sure to complete a course on data structure and algorithms first or you can easily get distracted.
