A nice place to test and develop your programming skills
What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal is a really nice platform that allows you to asses your coding skills. It has multiple difficulty levels and modes ready to explore. Within every task to solve there is a ranking that allows you to compare yourself with others. Whenever you finish a task you can check solutions that others have created, thus learn new things.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is only one thing, which is the difficulty level of daily challenges. Some of them are super easy, that you can solve with your eyes closed and then there are some that have unclear descriptions or that not obey their own rules. In these circumstances, the comments section is very helpful though :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work as a software developer, so I code every day. Even though I like to go to CodeSignal to check the latest challenges and compete with my coworkers. This is an opportunity to test and develop my skills.
Great site for improving your coding skills
What do you like best about the product?
Although it depends on which members are actively writing them, there have been excellent problems to solve in the challenges section.
What do you dislike about the product?
The challenge solutions are ranked be character count. This has forced me to learn some new features of the languages I code in, but I think that time complexity would be a better measure for the quality of solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have taught myself new languages that were required for various projects. I have also learned new ways to solve problems by comparing my solutions to other members'.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with the arcade and make sure to look at other people's solutions after you complete a problem
The best developer site
What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to compete with other developers and learn from them, in other places where there are competitions, it's too tedious, but in CS it's too simple and fun, I also like the interface, it's very nice for the user.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe the difficulty of classifying the problems, there are some with a medium difficulty that are very simple, and on the contrary there are problems with simple difficulty that require a higher level, even though it is not a big problem
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently I enter tournaments and help me analyze the problems with greater speed and precision
A nice break from the bigger problems
What do you like best about the product?
- Switching between different programming languages in order to accomplish a task (altough Python3 seems to be my favorite)
- Small challenges that keep you occupied for a few minutes to half an hour so that I can just get a little break when I'm actually working on something else
- Daily challenges. It's so nice to see solutions of other participants and learn from their approaches. I even got some upvotes, which boost my ego ;)

What do you dislike about the product?
The editor. Code completition has been a nightmare, so I turned it of. Sometimes it tried to complete something I just didn't want.
Apart from that there's not really much to complain about.
Apart from that there's not really much to complain about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm basically trying to solve all the problems that the platform provides. The tasks that need efficient solutions are the most challenging ones for me, as I sometimes don't pass the hidden tests due to an unefficient approach. So I'm forced to be more efficient; a huge benefit for me.
A Place to hone your 'Problem Solving Skills'
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most (up until now) about code signal challenges is that it improves my ability to take a given problem description and write an original program to solve it. It's a great source to practice solving programming problems. It's challenging and fun!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing in particular. The overall experience is quite good!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently I am practicing my coding skills while unlocking the arcade map. Doing so I learned to organize my thoughts to discover solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a beginner make sure to complete a course on data structure and algorithms first or you can easily get distracted.
Hone your problem solving and development skills. Learn something new.
What do you like best about the product?
I have been writing software professionally for just over 20 years. Although I still write code every day, some problems in enterprise software development can be repetitive. CodeSignal is a great way to challenge yourself with problems you may not experience in your day-to-day career work. Further to this point, you can quickly become proficient in a new language. There are many popular, and some obscure, languages from which to choose. I like to attempt to solve a single competitive challenge before heading off to sleep. Since I am never #1 in these challenges, I can return to them when they close to see how the winners approach the same problem. Fantastic opportunity to learn from the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
There used to be a tangible reward for scoring points, the essence of competition. It was just a simple T-Shirt, but that was enough of a cookie to keep me trying. Sadly, but understandably, they discontinued this promotion before I collected my prize. Now, it's a badge system, which is fine. Other than this, there really isn't much you can criticize.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am mostly focusing on algorithmic and SQL challenges. For standard software, I have devoted most of my learning in JavaScript as I prefer to grow in this language the most. I find that code-golf challenges have made me rethink-and rewrite- some very verbose and inefficient solutions in my career work
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Personal growth
Great tool for practising your coding and problem solving skills
What do you like best about the product?
Lately I've been using CodeSignal to learn a new language, it's especially useful to be able to compare solutions in different programming languages and by different users. I also think the gamification aspect is highly motivating.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like if there was less focus on minimizing number of characters and more focus on code craftmanship in the exercises. I also think you should be able to select difficulty more easily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I learn concise ways of solving well defined problems, which is useful later at work when solving more complex problems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make use of the community
Deliberate practice
What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal provides a great opportunity for practicing your programming skills in a gamified and competitive way. The difficulty range of these challenges goes from absolutely beginner friendly up to the top of expert level. Being able to interact with other users, seeing their solutions, their choice of programming language for a given challenge and reading their discussion comments is super valuable for learning. Among these users there are plenty of role models to follow, so it is easy to find motivation on the site as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there are mismatches between the challenge descriptions and the test cases, or there are different possible interpretations of a description, but I think that can be considered as preparation for real life scenarios in the software industry, where this happens all the time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Expert level performance can only be achieved by lots of practice. So I started practicing because I wanted to be able to solve more problems in a given time, be more productive when it comes to coding. In the mean time I learned a lot by looking at other users solutions. Also whenever I have to get familiar with a new programming language quickly I check the challenges on CodeSignal and I start practicing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Practice as much as you can.
Best site for practice!
What do you like best about the product?
There are plenty of problems to solve, in a wide variety of topics, different modalities if you get bored of an specific topic you can always try company challengues, arcade or daily challebgues.
What do you dislike about the product?
They should have some kind of filter for the tasks and challengues submmited, some are easier and some other require a specific knowledge, I've seen same problems being used in arcade and daily challengues, I would like to the a filter in the solutions in arcade by chars submitted
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are plenty of good programmers, which means there are plenty of smart solutions, you can see what other users did and learn from that!
Excellent source of programming challenges.
What do you like best about the product?
Variety of coding problems for students of all levels and abilities. Code golfing can illuminate language features. Problems involving graph algorithms and advanced data structures like tries.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the daily challenges are recycled, and sometimes they are pitched so low as to be useless (e.g., write a function that takes two integers and returns the sum).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I solve the Arcade problems and the daily challenges, and I recommend all of my students to use CodeSignal consistently in order to sharpen their coding skills and to build recognized credentials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are challenges for programmers of all levels of skill and experience, so jump in and participate on a daily basis.
