Codesignal: Responsive, Fun, Challenging. A Great Learning Environment

  • May 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The upsides of Codesignal are really how easy it is to make an account and jump into the Arcade or start a fun tournament with some friends or new people that you might meet online. The difficulty of the questions are a bit on the easy side, but the speed component of the tournaments is really fun and gets your heart racing. For me, being a high school student, it's nice to just check in on the site a few times a day and win 3 or so tournaments at a time. After a while of doing well, people have started to friend me on the site and I've met some cool folks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one downside I see of Codesignal was the antics with the whole t-shirt situation. A while ago, the site used to offer a blue t-shirt to members who amassed 500,000 or more coins through competition in tournaments or completing challenges in the Arcade. However, the shirt was eventually taken off the site's store, and coins became pretty much meaningless. Nevertheless, I emailed the marketing staff to see if there was any way that I could still get a t-shirt, but they never replied. Looking at the forums I found a nice post regarding the situation and was able to purchase a shirt through a group order form, however this was nowhere near as fulfilling and I still have the nearly 500,000 coins sitting in my account for no reason.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems on CodeSignal are really geared towards getting ready for job interviews in the world of computer programming and software development. I've picked up some skill, but mostly the problems are just for fun for me since a lot of it is stuff that I've already learned through other more difficult sites and contests in person. I've really gained speed though, as the tournaments only give you 10 minutes to code 5 problems, which is quite a lot of time in reality, with my record being somewhere near the 2 minute mark.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it. It's great for fun and for learning, and really improves your speed.

What do you like best about the product?
The variety of exercises, the community support and the solutions sharing. You can learn a lot by evaluating multiple solutions for the same problem.
What do you dislike about the product?
Considering the interview practice area, I think the problems should be updated more frequently based on what the companies are currently asking during the interviews. This can be collected from several sources.

I'm following the path at the Interview Practice to get ready for future interviews.

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing is that the problems are generally good and allow me to see questions I have not encountered before. The UI is also good and intuitive. Additionally, the variety of languages allows practice in a wide range for people who want to be generalists.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tests are very expensive to check out. Additionally, some descriptions on could be cleaned to be clearer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to practice languages I'm not using during work or for personal projects to make sure I don't get as rusty.

Best Code Practicing Platform

  • May 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal has a very intuitive UI which can help beginners to practice and advance easily. It has arcade mode, that's like a story mode which opens up each level once the previous questions are completed. This unlocking feature helps user to do more practice. Not only this but small 10 minute tourney s helps user to perform better as user feels competitive and keeps on practicing more. CodeSignal also have short program for Company Interviews and question s ranging from easy to medium to hard. In a nutshell, CodeSignal has done a wonderful job in making code practicing interesting, intuitive and fun to learn and practice. The questions target to develop users skill one by one and one can always use those skills sharpened to solve larger problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Everything is close to perfect. Even the friends feature is very interesting
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I do everything as I am preparing for company interviews, I use arcade, tourney, company tests, everyday question.

Great resource for algorithm practice

  • May 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using CodeSignal for a few months now and I've really enjoyed my time with it. It's UI is much better than Leetcode, Hackerrank, and other competitors. I like how it starts out fairly easy, but gets progressively hard. I also like to switch between the Arcade section for general questions and the Interview Prep section which gives real world interview questions from many tech companies. And after solving a question, I love to peruse the highest rated community answers to learn from much better coders than me.
What do you dislike about the product?
The weekly challenges are filled with many copy/paste questions, and most can be easily solved in seconds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being a self taught developer, my algorithm and data structure skills were very weak, but by using CodeSignal I definitely see an improvement. For the price of free, CodeSignal has without a doubt been my favorite resource for casually improving my algorithm and data structure skills.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to answer most questions in at least 2 different ways. After answering questions, take a look at the community answers to learn tips and tricks from other users. The top few community answers aren't my favorite as they sacrifice readability for conciseness, but there is still a lot you can learn from others. Also, I highly recommend having someone else to compete with. Try to push each other to solve more and more problems and that will really keep you motivated.

What do you like best about the product?
- For a quick break at work or while waiting for something/someone, I can try out a programming question and refresh my programming skills.
- The possibility to try out various problems at different skill levels and in different languages, which are seamlessly integrated in the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
- For larger problems, debugging with print statements becomes tedious quickly.
- Having syntax errors underlined would reduce the amount of times needed to recompile
- Hot and new topics such as machine learning are not included
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Refreshing skills on languages, data structures
- keeping up with new languages (Coffee Script is something I learned about in code signal)
- Code signal gave me ideas for evaluating potential interns.

Keep Your Brain Working Out

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal is a very nice platform and fully of advantageous for any developer. I like the concept of the Arcade mode, in which you can progressively improve your skills by unlocking one by one the levels. No matter if you are a beginner on an advanced developer, there's always some levels in which you have to make some researches on new technical approaches for handling the task. Playing tournaments and challenges gives you much more fun. Apart from learning from your personal researches, you also learn from other participants in the community.
What do you dislike about the product?
I miss the Head 2 Head challenge and the T-Shirt store (I didn't get the red one), but I hope that some new goods will be available in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to solve algorithmic and devops problems, sometimes database challenges.
Apart from keeping my skills up to date, I have the benefits of being visible to other companies for new career opportunities.
