What do you like best about the product?
The platform provides lots of examples for practice.
What do you dislike about the product?
Running line by line was a hustle and made it a bit too much work
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Online platform for testing coding skills

Well-written prompts and attractive metrics report to measure performance.

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy looking at the reports and receiving feedback with good visuals and numbers that are easy to understand.
What do you dislike about the product?
I disagree with the randomization. I think the combination of difficulty between problems in an assessment could be balanced better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CodeSignal helps programmers understand which concepts they need more practice in and also highlight their thought process.

A little difficult to reach the best scores. However, the coding exam seems fair.

What do you like best about the product?
Diversity of problems. I find that the different problems provided by code signal are helpful in assessing overall coding expertise.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some problems can be extremely difficult. This makes it more difficult to truly understand how a testee performed. It would be nice to have assessment feedback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Codesignal has been used by several companies that I have interviewed with. One of the best things I noted about Code signal was that the general assessment could be used for several companies. In that way, Code signal is definitely streamlining the interviewing process for new graduates who apply to several companies.

Great coding practice and interview prep

  • October 25, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal has a wealth of exercises to practice. They're organized into sensible categories, and are available in an Aracde format (if you just want to do a ton of practice) or into categories by subject matter or even little mini-courses for interview prep. The problems are well-explained. I also really like the ability to see other answers and so that I can see how other people solve the problems I did. The IDE is easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
CodeSignal is pretty much dedicated to pure programming, so the problems are kind of generic. It would be interesting to get some language-specific content. For example, Python is hugely important for data scientists and data analysts, so some exercises built around Python-only packages (e.g. Pandas) would be a huge benefit. I understand that this is not as attractive to CodeSignal (because you can't really make them available in all languages, so it's less bang-for-the-buck in that sense), but I think it would be totally worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I approach CodeSignal as a candidate, so for me it's solving the problem of getting a daily dose of language practice. I'm a little more senior in my career, and it helps to have exercises I can work on to stay sharp. It's also beneficial because CodeSignal is used by recruiters, so practicing the exercises and getting familiar with the system makes me better-prepared when possible employers use CodeSignal to screen / vet candidates.

Overall good as an interviewer

  • October 25, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I liked the ide. It was very similar to vscode. Offered intelligence and allowed me to focus on Schwab code instead of worrying about syntax and the name of functions.
What do you dislike about the product?
As an interviewer. I found the platform to be extremely confusing. I was trying to set up an interview for a candidate and struggled. Questions and templates are confusing and it should be simplified
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is solving how to interview people using code and to get an accurate assessment of what they do. I am not as interested in running code but I like seeing their code stored

Codesignal is a great optimization for candidate review.

  • October 25, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to filter candidates out by ability to code, and screen those without the necessary ability to even get to the interview process. It is a much more standardized approach compared to competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nicer to get more insight as to candidate ability - I feel that the question bank varies a lot and some candidates that are suitable to a position could be screened out while others make it in
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps entirely with the screening of candidates - cutting down on interviews that waste our time. I think it is a huge time save for interviewing and adding to a holistic review of candidates.

Overall great platform

  • October 25, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Overall a great platform and you get results back very quickly with a detailed analysis about how you did. The platform is really easy to use and has auto fill, test cases, etc. in order to help out with your code. There are also practice tests to help study for exams
What do you dislike about the product?
The questions vary greatly in their difficulty, and if you just so happen to have seen a question before you'll be at a great advantage which makes the process a little bit unfair.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making the interview process easier by allowing users to send test results to multiple companies. CodeSignal is also removing unfair bias by allowing users to only be able to take a test once every two weeks.

Increased efficiency and productivity in the hiring process

  • August 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
End-to-end platform for hiring IT talent
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface can improve a tad bit
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CodeSignal has reduced the involvement of our existing workforce to evaluate new candidates. We recently hired python developers and Codesignal helped us in increased productivity and the whole hiring process was swift and efficient.

Falls short of "Minimum Viable Product"

  • August 15, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Not a ton, honestly. It's hard to think of nice things to say. I guess it supports a lot of languages.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a shared change history between all participants, meaning undo and redo can undo or redo others' changes. This is definitely an MVP feature. The UI is confusing. Several languages fail to compile. Several languages are missing key libraries. Several languages use "out of the box" integrations with bizarre hacks to simulate "files", but don't adjust linters accordingly, meaning compiler errors become puzzles for interviewers and candidates to solve together. I apologize to candidates about CodeSignal's shortcomings 2-3 times per interview.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's trying to compete with CoderPad, but it's an overengineered solution that offers nothing extra at the expense of confusion and bugs. It doesn't really benefit me, because everything it does other companies do better.
