    Computer Software

CodeSignal was pretty good to use.

  • December 04, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
There was some pretty good feedback about things like coding speed etc. In addition, the option to choose to have non proctored if not required is pretty good respect for privacy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some statistics does not seem very easy to measure/tangible, such as the code quality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used CodeSignal's general coding assessment for interviews.

Professional experience

What do you like best about the product?
I can use the score from the same assessment for different companies removing the need to write a separate evaluation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The score calculation is weird. I feel using the number of test cases executed per question is a better metric for scoring.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Codesignal helps me complete coding assessments when applying for companies.

Excellent Coding Platform

  • November 24, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user interface makes the platform easy to use and give out coding examinations. Python auto-complete works accurately, making it comparatively better than its competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing which can be improved upon is the speed of test case processing, if this is taken care of there is no other improvement needed to made. It has great potential!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CodeSignal has been the go to platform for solving coding interview questions favored by large established companies as well as developing startups to recruit budding talent.

The questions are a little wordy and long.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
First round screening for technical interviews.

CodeSignal is great for practicing algorithmic problems, but assessments are unnecessarily difficult

What do you like best about the product?
The coding environment is excellent, especially for someone who uses Vim keybindings. I enjoy the other aspects of CodeSignal, like the industry problems from various tech startups. Writing test cases is also very seamless.
What do you dislike about the product?
The assessments are structured in a way that hurts candidates - 4 problems in 70 minutes is quite ambitious, and I believe in order for candidates to do well they have to practice on the CodeSignal platform. I also disagree with the scoring process - while speed is always important, candidates shouldn't be penalized for answering a question in 10 minutes versus 20 minutes - there could be an edge case that isn't handled well in one programming language versus another. Rarely have there been instances in my previous jobs where being able to code a function in a shorter amount of time has benefited me - in fact, all cultures encourage taking an adequate amount of time in order to avoid mistakes and account for all use cases. These scores will hurt a candidate from moving forward in the process and permits recruiters to not have a holistic view of the performance in the assessment. Proctoring isn't indicative of real world scenarios either - most software engineers will look for inspiration on Stack Overflow, Google searches, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There aren't novel problems I am solving through the platform. I've realized that it is biased towards short-syntax languages - Python is more advantageous to use over Java.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take practice tests ahead of time and utilize easy-to-type, short-syntax coding language

Test didn't start

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Short tests are good to do without blocking much time
What do you dislike about the product?
Long questions are impossible to complete in given time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hiring challenges. Questions are good

    Staffing and Recruiting

CodeSignal has been very good to our company's hiring ability.

What do you like best about the product?
The Coding Score - it allows a non-technical person to understand elements of a developer's solution that a non-technical person would never be able to otherwise.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform has not improved in the two years that I've used it. Many questions are valued arbitrarily, not allowing a non-technical person to know how complex or easy the problem is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CodeSignal allows a new recruiter to assess a Java Developers skillset to an extent. That is something that I hadn't perceived as possible in the last 5 years of my recruiting career.

Good Experience

What do you like best about the product?
I like the UI/UX of the platform the most. It was easy to use and provided clear instructions and insights regarding the tasks needed for the contest. It simply stood out from the competition.
What do you dislike about the product?
There was nothing that I disliked from the platform. CodeSignal has got everything that we expect from a coding test platform. I would love to see the archives if it is possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems I got solved from CodeSignal were regarding tests for the companies. It has helped immensely in that. I hope to see it growing in further time so that more candidates can have benefits.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would love to recommend CodeSignal to others.

wouldn't go out of my way to recommend

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the platform allows you to switch between different programming languages. You can run your code, and the platform will tell you the output and errors.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it easier to code solutions with a split-screen feature so that the problem and my code are side by side. That way, I don't have to scroll up to see the problem, which is how my interviewer gave me the problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've only used CodeSignal as a platform during a technical interview for a software engineering internship. I haven't used it enough to realize any benefits to using it.

What do you like best about the product?
The IDE is user-friendly and intuitive. I liked having the video interview along with the coding assessment live on the same platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
There should be more feedback after completing an assessment or interview.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For technical screening and interview
