Depends too much on luck

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the questions generally increase in difficult, so we get a warmup question.
What do you dislike about the product?
Your score is heavily dependent on which questions you get from the question pool and not a reliable indication of how you usually solve algorithm questions. For example, I took two tests within several weeks of each other and my score dropped 100 points from the first take. It's possible to get really difficult questions that aren't solvable in the time limit. I also believe the time score is not standardized, so you can solve the problems fairly quickly and for some reason get a lower score than someone who solved slower on similar difficult questions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Interviewing for a bunch of companies, kind of nice to have a standardized test but this isn't a good platform to do so with.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't use it unless you're okay with filtering out potentially really good candidates

CodeSignal is a great platform for both developers and companies to test one's coding abilities.

What do you like best about the product?
I love how much data is available and how it allows for competitions with friends and other users.

Users are able to take company challenges to stand out to specific companies that the user is interested in.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is that if you set the IDE to a dark theme, the instruction area is still a light gray color.

It'd also be cool to see verified badges on the tools/languages that we say we know to be able to stand out more. (similar to Linkedin's skill endorsement)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm mainly focused on interview questions but I used to like seeing how many arcade questions I could do in a day. The main benefit is I've been able to solidify my code challenge process and speed up that process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a developer looking to start with CodeSignal, definitely give their tournaments a try. It was probably the most addictive part of the experience.

Great for practicing coding and improving speed for problem solving!

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal has different levels of complexity, and you can learn and climb your way up to more complex problems. The IDE is intuitive and fast. The questions are nicely explained and represent real life problems.
The platform also has support for many programming languages, which is a plus. It has a variety of test cases and the results are instantaneous. The learning tracks are really helpful.
The UI is pretty intuitive. I think you should also work on marketing because not a lot of people have heard of this platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't like the fact that the criteria of the test judgment wasn't clearly stated. I finished all the questions before time, but I still didn't get selected in the round even though I had a 100% CodeSignal score. It would've been good to know beforehand that I was also being judged on speed.
Each question should have a separate clock if the speed is a criteria for evaluation. It will also be beneficial if you could add more test cases.
The test cases can be more comprehensive. And we should be allowed to test custom test cases as well before submitting the code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. I only solved first few levels, and it helped me solve open ended questions that are really what are asked in the interviews.
2. I also realised I need to improve my speed for problem solving.
3. Real life problems arranged in increasing order of complexity helps pace you.
4. I think it helps all levels of programmers practice what they need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try this once. You won't go back.

Great coding test system

What do you like best about the product?
I really liked that the coding environment was very polished and nice
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it is confusing to sign up for practice, there are a lot of points and other systems, but not sure whether they actually do anything
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it to practice for coding interviews, and it was interesting to see real coding challenges that other companies use.

Good platform for skipping first rounds

  • August 17, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it provides breakdowns of speed, performance, correctness etc instead of just "did you get the question right or not". Also like that you can reuse the same test for multiple users.
What do you dislike about the product?
When codesignal tracks they track it from the time you open the question. I like to view all the questions in advance so that I know what to tackle. But then the problem is that it acts as if i took 1.5 hours on each question instead of 1.5 hours total.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pretty typical data structures and algorithms problems. Its really similar to other platforms but does a better analysis of your performance.

There are absolutely no problems that I have faced so far. The benefit is having a great environment to give coding tests and smooth UI.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Codesignal is a very good platform for tech companies to conduct their coding tests.

Great for practice!

What do you like best about the product?
Solving problems with the given deadline is a great way to think on your feet and prepare for interviews. Code Signal does exactly that.
What do you dislike about the product?
Scoring system is not transparent. It would be helpful for a candidate to understand how the scoring system works.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Mainly company-specific problems. This helps me to get some clarity on the level of questions that anybody can expect.

Interview problems i get.

I haven't solved any problems outside of interviews
