What do you dislike about the product?
i). The learning curve:
IBM Planning Analytics has a steep learning curve, especially for new users or people unfamiliar with similar software. However, the complexity of certain features and functions may require additional training or support to utilize the software fully.
ii). Support for mobile devices is limited:
Some other planning and analytics tools have more mobile support than IBM Planning Analytics. Although mobile devices can access it through web browsers, the experience and functionality may be limited, making it less convenient for users who rely heavily on mobility.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Planning Analytics offers significant benefits to businesses, solving several joint planning and analysis problems. Here are some of the problems it solves and the benefits it brings:
i). Integration of complex data:
Data from different sources is often fragmented and inconsistent because businesses struggle to consolidate it. With IBM Planning Analytics, organizations can get a unified view of their operations by seamlessly integrating diverse data sets. This helps users plan, forecast, and make decisions with accurate and comprehensive data.
ii). Inefficient processes:
The manual planning process can be time-consuming, error-prone, and inflexible. With IBM Planning Analytics, you can automate tasks, eliminate manual errors, and collaborate in real time. As a result, users can focus on strategic analysis and decision-making, which improves efficiency and reduces cycle times.
iii). Analysis and insights are limited:
Traditionally, planning tools don't give you deep insights and analysis. This limitation is overcome by IBM Planning Analytics' powerful modeling and analytics. Making data-driven decisions and gaining actionable insights can be done using complex calculations, scenario analysis, and predictive modeling.

Excellent analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
IBM PA has a powerful engine that handles sparsity very well - other competing software solutions do not compete. It is flexible and completely customizable to fit your business and planning needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are challenges with the fact that PA is so customizable; there are times when something "can" be done in PA, but really should not and can cause issues down the line.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We utilize PA internally for revenue forecasting and resource planning.
Our most common implementations include: Demand and Supply Planning and Financial Planning
The benefits include: single source of truth for data, integrated platform to eliminate siloes in planning, self-service analytics - eliminates reliance on IT for data

Perks of IBM Planning Analytics with Watson
What do you like best about the product?
The Graphical User Interface of the workspace is amazing. Extremely easy to understand and work on. We can also use the Excel-like UI if we are habitual to that.
What do you dislike about the product?
The worst thing about it is the price. It costs 1,250$ which is extremely costly. And in the free tier, we can only have max of 5 users and also, we can not use the Excel-Like interface in the Trial Version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The three main things that have been made extremely easier are IT Project Planning. We don't have to enter all the data in excel sheet now, We can easy come around the budgets and everything with the help of IBM Planning Analytics with Watson.
Interactive planning and budgeting tool. A great addition...
What do you like best about the product?
The tool has helped making the planning and budgeting easier to deisng more interactive workflows
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing that we dislike as of now and tool is great
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The major use that we have is the automation of the other manual budgeting efforts that are regularly required in the projects taken ahead by the faculties

Using Planning Analytics to add efficiencies and flexibility to budgeting and planning
What do you like best about the product?
Planning Analytics' user-friendly interface, robust integration with Excel, and up-to-date web interface (Planning Analytics Workspace) have added many efficiencies to our budgeting and planning process.
It has allowed us to standardized and improve the budgeting process, and has provided enhanced analytic capabilities. It also provides strong Excel interface capabilities for ad hoc analysis.
A strength of Planning Analtyics is it's flexibility in allowing us to easily adapt our planning process to changing business conditions.

What do you dislike about the product?
No strong dislikes. It is a bit of a learning curve to learn "rules" development, but that is easily overcome by training and experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Planning Analytics has allowed us to provide a robust and flexible platform for budgeting, modeling, and planning.
It's allowed us to streamline and make more efficient previously more manual processes
It also allows us to make reports and input templates available in a more "self-service" manner via Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW). The PAW platform has been very well received by our user community and we look forward to continued enhancements to PAW.

Top of the Line Product for all your XP&A Needs
What do you like best about the product?
PA can be used for way more than just your basic financial budgeting....it really can help throughout your organization
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a bit more "technical" to learn than some other tools on the market, but it is more powerful and more scalable, so it is a fair trade-off.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping to forecast the number of units that we keep in inventory, that we need to ship (to stay in stock) and that we need to manufacture on a weekly basis. This was all previously done in Excel, and was very manual, it is now very automated in PA, and our confidence in our numbers is dramatically higher.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do a phased approach...don't try to boil the ocean
IBM Planning Analytics Insight
What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is the real time calculations. It makes Excel a super tool as you now can have very large amounts of data (compared to pivot function in Excel) - I like the cloud version of this product; makes global deployment extremely easy - The analytical part that this product offers should not be underestimated. Because it has such powerful Excel add-in; what we use Planning Analytics for is to bring data from different sources into cubes (e.g. sales volume data, service level data, logistics performance data, customer data and financial data) and the true value creation is when you combine these data from different sources in your analysis (e.g. link average lease periods from operations data to financial revenue data by customer to determine true ROIC). This tool gives us the possibility to put data together and then play with data, which is not possible at this level with Excel pivot function. Other tools like Tableau, PowerBI etc are able to analyse but only on data that is loaded into it. Add hoc load-ins from different data-sources are not really possible; you always need IT to get data connections.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that the chart functions for web-based reports are basic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for analyzing and displaying data and for also to collect ad-hoc data
Scalable, Sparcity, Flexible
What do you like best about the product?
I can do almost everything in PA. It's very optimized and scalable. It can handle TBs in-memory. And it does not
What do you dislike about the product?
The technical support is sometimes hard to communicate, sometimes they are rude.
Sometimes It's a pain to create Time dimension you need
The installation process (especially with Docker-based Workspace) is sometimes like "Find a mermaid's tear on dawn and so on"
No version control support. It's difficult to perform releases and to move development from one server to another
